I'm going to be picking up MAG tomorrow (probably the first game I got on launch date since Madden 2005) and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a cheap headset that works with the PS3. I don't want to go all out for a bluetooth headset that I will literally use for one game.

Amazon has a list of popular headsets here.

I ended up buying a bluetooth headset myself, figuring I'd get enough use of it between the PS3 and my cell phone, since there all kinds of hands free laws going into effect around here. It's kinda worked out.

Thanks for the list, I will have to take a look. A secondary question: Are ALL bluetooth headsets compatible with the PS3?

EDIT: My PSN name is Ciderbarrel for those who don't know.

Here's my "I just played for 15 hours straight and I swear I still hear gunfire coming from my surround sound" reciew.

Considering that the beta was out about 2-3 weeks ago, it plays just like it, which isn't a bad thing.

Alot of the masks have been removed from the customization screen, but people speculate it will be unlockable later. Most of the good gear can only be worn by high(er) level people. In the beta, one could equip anything at anytime.

I joined Raven, like in the beta, and went the Rapid Assault track which is basically Assault rifle specialization. I was able to get to level 15 (the level where you can be a squad leader) and I got enough skill points to unlock the best rifle. The starter ones are highly inaccurate. After getting the scope, the accuracy doubled on the stat screen. From just under 50% to just under 100%. I was (and still am) very tired when I unlocked it so my aim was WAY off the mark for this time of day.

Initial thoughts. Most everyone joined SVER for some reason and Raven and Valor are virtual ghost towns. I was able to do a 128 vs 128 match about a dozen times and it was INTENSE. The only timed it slowed down was when there was a huge firefight going down with alot of people and you're in the middle of a smoke grenade. Otherwise, it was pretty smooth sailing.

I got invited to a clan right off the bat and once I get my headset, I think I'll have alot more fun. Especially when I'm laying there dying and I can actually tell my squad mates not to run backwards into that corner where I just got gunned down because two guys are camping there. Out of the probably 50 matches I played, I only ran into a-holes twice, both around 8am where people were team-killing, probably before school started.

I couldn't get into Killzone 2, nor Biohazard (I know, I'm tarded apparently), but I'm having way too much fun with this shooter and my girlfriend already is afraid she won't see much of me this week. It's just slightly addicting.

Raven
Valor
SVER

Anyone know which group is the best to join?

Or which group has the best weapons?

The best part of waking up is not Folgers in your cup, but knowing that Chuck Norris didn't kill you in your sleep.

Right now, everyone has coupon codes from Gamestop for better weapons/armor for SVER. In the beta, they had their weapons nerfed, but now they win a higher than average amount of matches. Yesterday I didn't have one win against SVER and went about 50/50 with Valor. I got invited to a clan on launch day and they all have mics and apparently they're all cops and have played shooters since SOCOM 1 and they can't believe how unbalanced SVER is. Our sniper had a 20:0 Kill-death ratio in an Assault match and he couldn't believe that it would take 2-3 shots to put down a SVER because of the armor boost they have. Head shots are instant kills though.

All I can say about Raven is that our guns are highly inaccurate until you add scopes/sights and the third tier assault rifle isn't worth the 5 points to unlock. I've respeced once, but I'm not going to do it again just in case they make changes soon. The bump from the 2nd to 3rd is minimal in terms of stability, accuracy, and RoF AND it has 5 less rounds in the mag and 20 less in reserve.

If you go the Rapid Assault tier in Raven, stick with the ATAC 2000
