Sometimes you're just in the mood for a great cheesy wimpy love song:
1. Heaven -- Bryan Adams 2. Against All Odds -- Phil Collins 3. Mandy -- Barry Manilow 4. The Warmth of the Sun -- Beach Boys 5. Hold on to the Night -- Richard Marx
Please ... no comments about how old and white this list is.
Let me put you in the picture, let me show you what I mean; The Messiah is my sister, ain't no king man, she's my queen.
Heaven I don't mind, but anything released by Bryan Adams starting with "Everything I Do" is just crap. He used to be able to rock, then he found a formula for selling more records. Just flip to your town's easy listening station-there he is!
A few more of these that you're ashamed to listen to except in the car by yourself:
"Here I Am" - Air Supply "Can't Fight This Feeling" - REO Speedwagon "I Swear" All-4-One "The Shape Of My Heart" - Backstreet Boys
edit: may I humbly suggest some brave soul start the companion thread "best heart-wrenching love songs ever"?
(edited by spf2119 on 18.6.02 1334) Anyone remember the joy of seeing him bash the Undertaker's motorcycle with his sledgemhammer and doing no damage and being all like, "Mjolnir will not break thine cycle? I say thee NAY!" and dumping it off the stage. - Enojado Viento says the funniest thing I've ever read on Wienerville.
Gotta add here some 80's classics like" "Making Love out of nothing at all" - Air Supply "Hard Habit to Break" - Chicago "Open Arms" - Journey
Most recent (90's-present) "Bended Knee" - Boys II Man "I Believe" - Blessed Union of Soul "More than words" - ack..forgot their names "Don't wanna miss a thing" - Aerosmith
Many more left...these were off the top of my head.

Extreme, man! Geez! It's Extreme!! Have you forgotten all your one-hit-album bands already??
With that said, allow me to add a few of my own: "Keep On Loving You" - REO Speedwagon "To Be With You" - Mr. Big "The Power Of Love" - Huey Lewis & The News "Stuck With You" - Huey Lewis & The News "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" - Celine Dion. I remember the first time I heard this song... I thought Meatloaf had made "I Would Do Anything For Love, Part II." And that reminds me... "I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)" - Meatloaf
"Thanks RageRockrr! You're the coolest!" - Excalibur05, March 10, 2002. "And the natives were chanting, ‘Hoya! Hoya! Me no sono’... which means, ‘Turn down! Turn down! Me want soda!’" "The neighbors complained. They moved. The new neighbors complained. It was almost like being on tour, George!" Captain Lou Albano, hitting 101 on the Unintentional Comedy Scale, right here.
WOKKA WOKKA WOKKA, PUNK!!
You are Fozzie! Wokka Wokka! You love to make lame jokes. Your sense of humor might be a bit off, but you're a great friend and can always be counted on..
Rage...thanks man..i think i need a couple of more smacks..how could i forget Extreme, i mean i knew it was from the Pornograffiti album and that Uno Betancourt played with them but i just couldn't come up with the name...damn this age...
In the meanwhile a few more i thought of: Az Yet - "Last night"...great strip club song btw Cheap Trick - "The flame" Forigner - "I've been waitingfor a girl like you" oh oh...Europe - "Carrie"...this gotta be one of the cheesiest ever.
I wish this also included Latin singers because they f'n rule the cheesy love ballad market.
Coming home from a Padres game last Friday night, we were walking through the far end of our complex when we passed a house with the stereo blasting like a 15 year old when Mom and Dad were out... and it was playing...
Can't fight this feeling...
...at about volume 9 out of 10. It was scary.
It was like the inhabitants there were marking their territory with sound and proclaiming "Old people sex taking place here!"
(edited by Guru Zim on 18.6.02 1321) I love it when a plan comes together
"Iris" by Goo Goo Dolls "As Long As You Love Me" by Backstreet Boys "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion
Sue me, I was 12 when Titanic came out...and I cried at the end. Poor guy...he went for a girl, and what did it get him? DEAD! DEAD! Stupid Kate Winslet... I'd hate her if she wasn't hot.
Bart: Hey, immigrants! Beat it! Country's full! Sailor: OK people, you heard the lady. Back into the hold. We'll try Canada. [the immigrants moan] -- "The City of New York Vs. Homer Simpson"
Ah yes - the "disembodied souls after a plane crash" video. I guess it was supposed to be romantic since he called his girlfriend as the plane was going down. I can't recall seeing that video much after September 11th, for some reason...
Might I also suggest "I Love You" by Climax Blues Band and "The Promise" by When In Rome? I remember those from a disc of "Classic Love Songs" and thought that they'd fit this category well.
Steph
I'm going twenty-four hours a day...I can't seem to stop - "Turn Up The Radio", Autograph
Ah yes, Climax Blues Band. When I was...a younger man (14 or so)...I hadn't a care...and this girl named Katie used to call me all the time, and that was ALWAYS the song playing in the background on her tape player. Talk about your subtle hints...
Years later as a bucking young DJ, a couple of people including Katie stop by the radio station and we're hanging out talking about songs, and I said "HERE'S Katie's song!" And I played it. She swelled up into tears and made me make her a tape.
Oh...I'll throw in Journey's "Faithfully", which was me and Rachel's song. And Survivor's "The Search Is Over", which was me and Shelly's song...Then I kinda ran out of girlfriends who even CARED about having "songs"...
The Earth, The Moon, The Sun (I'm not sure of the title)

Color Me Badd
That's Badd with two D's mister! Although honestly they looked like they should've been hanging with Jeff Hardy...not that there's anything wrong with that.
Jesus, I thought I was going to be too embarrassed to mention that I really like "Eternal Flame" by the Bangles and "Take My Breath Away" by Berlin, but you guys have way, way outdone me I do believe.
gonna build a giant drill and bore straight into hell releasing ancient demons from their sleep-forever spell so they can walk upon the earth and get recituated and run the diet pill pyramid that MC Pee Pants has created
Originally posted by zhixelI'm slightly surprised noone has mentioned Lovesong by The Cure.
While it is a love song and The Cure are undeniably wimpy, it just ain't cheesy.
To put "Lovesong" within 100 miles of this thread is sacrilege. "Lovesong" is neither cheesy nor wimpy, but is rather one of the best rock love songs EVER! I will accept no argument on this point!!! ;)

Might I suggest "Angel Eyes" by the Jeff Healy Band?
This would actually work for a friend/ex-indy wrestling booker of mine and his girl...but for some God-awful reason, their song is Uncle Kracker's "Follow Me." Dear God, the pain...
But of course, that's coming from a guy who sang Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young's "Southern Cross" to a chick on a Wisconsin beach. (Shoot...said the quiet part loud and the loud part quiet!)
Star wipe, and...we're out. Thrillin' ain't easy. . . THE THRILL ACW-TV...er, Home Video Technical Director...and A2NWO 4 Life!
