The show started late due to the football game running over (I wonder if they'll shitcan the NFL over this) but it was worth it. One of my favorite skits is the MacGruber ones. So, it was great to see Charles Barkley show up in three new bits.
But, Alicia Keyes tore the house down, and also starred in a Digital Short with Samberg, which was surprisingly hilarious.
Charles Barkley is the only athlete they should ever let host. Their shows are usually death but he is just impossibly hilarious. There wasn't a single funny joke in his monologue and his delivery, from a technical standpoint, was horrible - but every single thing he said made me laugh.
These were definitely the best series of MacGruber skits they've ever had IMHO. I laughed a lot the whole episode, so no complaints at all from me. Did anybody else notice how the cameo from 30 Rock's Lutz during the monologue drew absolutely ZERO response? Poor guy.
John Lutz is actually a writer on the SNL staff, so it was more a random role-filling (most writers play the audience members in those 'host answers questions' monologues) than a real cameo. Besides, given Lutz's 30 Rock persona, the lack of a response is probably more fitting.
Very funny episode, btw. The MacGruber skits were tremendous. I loved how Barkley almost cracked up twice, yet for no reason in particular.
Kirk, crackers are a family food. Happy families. Maybe single people eat crackers, we don't know. Frankly, we don't want to know. It's a market we can do without.
