From everything I've read, the James kid was a slacker crybaby(that's from coaches and teammates). Basically the Tech admins had it out for Leach and used this as an excuse to get rid of him. Can't blame them, I think he's insane, but still. This incident was blown way out of proportion by a wussy kid and his famous parent.

They never wanted to give him the extension, so this is the easiest way out. Of course, Tech has always been consistent, as Robert Montgomery Knight had no player issues prior to his hiring at Tech.
Hope Tech realizes they weren't a dream job for many coaching candidates before, and after this most coaches are going to be very wary of going there.

It sounds like at least to Joe Schad (ESPN) who was just on Mike&Mike both sides agree that James was put in a secluded room. It is the type of room that the accusations happened.

Then there is this,

Considering we just had Congressional hearings about concussions in sports, was this a really good idea by Leach? I don't know if its fire worthy, but Leach's lawyer did him no favors with suing the school. I think James' family threatened to sue which it would more then likely win then they suspended Leach for the bowl game. I saw on the ESPN ticker that least one other Texas Tech isn't crying over Leach's firing. Here is the Leach's timelime and its not just this one incident.

I'm not sure how putting a kid in a somewhat dark room after he complaints about light affecting him is a bad thing for concussions. If he was throwing rocks at the kid's head, then maybe, but it doesn't sound like any physical harm at all was done.

Based on the Chancellor's quotes I just heard, they were tired of his act and wanted him gone. This was just the straw they could use to do it.

Texas Tech is not some Sister Mary Children for the Blind school. They have a multi-million dollar facility for cases like this. If he would have passed out, do you think a shed would be have the sufficient medical equipment would have helped him? I am sure people think the James' kid should man up, but that is macho crap. The kid had a concussion, no one is disputing that. He should have gone back to the medical facility to make sure he did not risk further damage. I am not saying he should have been fired for it, but suspended, yeah I am ok with it. Leach was the one who decided to sue the school then they fired his ass. I am sure he will get millions as a buy out, but I would never let my kid come ten feet near him if I had a kid and the kid was the complete opposite of me in the way of sports.
