My employer has somehow blocked the use of Firefox for browsing at work, so I am now subjected to using IE to browse from work. Can someone tell me how to access my favorites from Firefox so I can get them over to IE? I have been using Firefox for many years, so I don't have many of my favorites over here on IE. Mucho gracias.
In the past, I've had good luck with Xmarks (xmarks.com) across multiple computers. I've never tried the cross browser support so I can't promise anything there but I've generally been pleased with the program in every other respect.

Can you still open Firefox but not browse with it? If you can open, you can go to Bookmarks, click on "Organize Bookmarks", click "import & Backup", then "export html" to your desktop. Open IE, then File->import& Export->import favorites and point to your favorites.
Hope that helps. If you can't open Firefox at all you will need someone brighter then me.
Hopefully, you just have 1 profile, and 1 folder in the directory that pops up. Double click on it, and look for bookmarks.html . That's your bookmark folder, you can double click and open it to take a look.
You can always just right click and add the bookmarks one by one, but there is an Import options in IE. It's just different in each one. There's a list of instructions over here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/211089 - scroll down about half the page.
Here's what is in the profiles folder (just that 5osed4z4.default folder).
C:\Documents and Settings\gpizzo\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\5osed4z4.default\bookmarks.html
That bookmark file just gets me to an explorer page that links to mozilla itself and explains bookmarks. It also has the explorer icon on it and not the firefox icon.
It should be an Internet Explorer icon now - IE is probably now the default HTML program, and the file is an HTML file. When you open it up, it should have the same favorites as you had in Firefox - it just shows exactly what was last listed under Bookmarks.
If there's nothing in that file now
* could've someone else wiped out your Firefox profile? There'd be no getting them at this point.
* could you have been saving bookmarks differently? Did you have a Google Toolbar and used the blue star icon to save favorites? Google would have them then.
I don't think my profile was wiped, but who knows, big brother is clamping down hard here.
I did not have a google toolbar, either.
Here's the message from our IT staff (a week after they started the clampdown):
Consistent with our policies and procedures to improve overall security of our network/systems, IT has begun blocking software that was not installed by the IT department. Some examples of blocked software that create security risks are:
Web browsers – Firefox, Safari, Opera, Google Chrome
Email programs – Incredimail, Thunderbird
Internet Explorer toolbars – Yahoo, Google, Ask, ESPN
Running out the door for an oil change today I noticed a little box wedged in the doorway, brought via our friends at UPS. Addressed to me from "Young America Corporation," my first thought was, "Hmm, I haven't ordered anything in weeks.
