"Expecting the world to treat you fairly because you are good is like expecting the bull not to charge because you are a vegetarian." - Dennis Wholey (1937-)
Amen to you, and Amen to the Rock. I don't care what any smark might say, the man is Money, and in a different way than Flair was, He is now, more than ever, regardless of how many movies he makes, THE MAN.
Well I say... THANK GOD! For the past few weeks, I was thinking that the WWE was suffering from a serious lack of main-eventers, and now this whole "Stone Cold walks out" thing may have been the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. I was hoping to God that The Rock was going to come back. Gosh knows I'm not the biggest Rock fan in the world, but if he can save the WWE from main-event crisis, I'll bow down to him, by all means.
Rock is a quick, temporary fix for the company losing their top star. He can holler and rant about how the company is "home" and if they don't like it get out...but I bet you one of The Rock's 500 dollar shirts that he'll be off TV again and back to Hollywood before you know it.
I can't believe no one else found it strange that the wrestler who is most likely to leave the company for greener pastures at the earliest possible chance is suddenly taking up the torch of Mr. Company Man.

I'm kind of riding the line on it. It's like on the one hand, I was thinking the exact same thing. Rock's almost certainly the first one there who's going to "get the 'F' out" or the company. And one can hardly blame him: It's better money for less dangerous work. But I was just kind of riding that razor's edge of belief, and I still am. Kind of a self-imposed naivete. And who knows, maybe he will be able to juggle two careers for a while at least.
Yes, that WAS a hell of a pop for Rocky. I was there live (back of section C) and my throat's still raw. In a good way. ;-)
Damn, that promo ruled. I'm not usually a Rock mark, though he is a talented guy, but he had me eating out of the palm of his hand. Even my husband got a little choked up! Great show to be at--they treated the Austin situation just right, IMO.

But that was exactly the point. The Rock comes back early (as it was said he would return at SummerSlam) and addresses the crowd that no matter where he is, no matter what happens he will always be there for the WWE. He might not be on tv all the time, but he will never walk out on them.. That's why he was there and that's what he was supposed to get across.
"...And I use that to fuck them some place fairly uncomfortable." "What, like the back of a volkswagen ?" -Mallrats
I really don't know what to think of the whole interview. The Rock can talk about guys 'getting the F out', but he's a part time employee at best now. Having him do a main event interview to end the show, was nice for a go home happy type of feel, but it would have been nice to see the WWF leave building a new *major* storyline.
Also The Rock buried Austin. Austin is a man who had quite a bit to do with The Rock's success. Without Austin there probably would be no Rock.
I really felt the WWF was trying to hard to *spin* the situation, and I ended up with a bad taste in my mouth.
The Rock will never leave WWE, since he must realize that the wrestling audience is a big chunk of the people that buy tickets to his movies. Maybe it'll be something like the WWE equivalent of Jennifer Aniston; he'll work at his "day job" for six months, and then make a movie during his summmer break.
I was born in a manger, like that other guy. You know, he wore a hat?

I've heard it's some kind of Action-Comedy, and it costars Shawn William Scott, the guy who played "Stifler" in the American Pie movies.
That doesn't really say what it's about. Judging by the name alone, I expect something like a fluffier "From Dusk till Dawn", which could be good but could be awful and probably won't make loads of money either way unless Rocky turns out to have a load of box office pull. I like Rock's newest pet project better: he plays some Hawaiian historical figure. I know nothing about him but his name is Kamehameha. *Giggle* *Snort*
Ok, Debaser, you want more information, you've got it! :-) From http://www.countingdown.com/movies/helldorado/movieinfo/ :
The movie will feature The Rock as "a bounty hunter who attempts to square a debt by heading to the Amazon jungle to capture someone. The bounty hunter discovers that his quarry isn't the bad guy he'd been warned about, and the two team up in pursuit of riches stored in a mine in the Amazon." That explains the title. A combination of "Hell" and "El Dorado", the legendary city of gold.
Oh, and Kamehameha was the name of a Hawaiian King (well several of them, actually, but I assume that they are talking about Kamehameha I). Some of the legends associated with him can be found at http://www.ksbe.edu/endowment/hawaiian/history/kk1.html . I imagaine the Scorpion King moved to Hawaii, but with all the requisite fight scenes.

Thanks. Punching "Helldorado" into a search engine just gave me the website of some band and a bunch of "Rock will be starring in..." news briefs. That plot actually sounds like it could be a palatable action flick.
And whoever else he is, Kamehameha will always be what the DBZ guys shout before they fire energy blasts at eachother. I doubt I'll be able to see that movie in a theatre without giggling uncontrollably.
Helldorado is expected to start filming in September. So, judging from the fact that the Rock said he return on the July 12th edition of Smackdown and compete at Summerslam, suggests that the Rock will be here for about 3 months.
My second favorite stupid tidbit: The reason the siren in BPP's entrance music sounds kind of off is because it's in 7/4 time. I can't think of any other wrestler's entrance music that isn't in 4/4.
