Tebow isn't one of the top 5 QBs in the country right now. If he played for Vabderbilt he'd be 4-8 and a nobody. Why are we having this discussion in a topic about Bobby Bowden?
FSU will not be going to the Gator Bowl. Clemson will be. Clemson was a 'lesser team' last year than FSU only in the mind of FSU fans. FSU hasn't deserved a good bowl bid since 2006.

The Gator Bowl reps are publically saying they want FSU.
If Clemson loses to GT, then by rule they can take FSU anyway and will. If Clemson wins, they have to get an exception from the ACC to take FSU, and Gator Bowl officials are positive they'll get it.
I agree they don't deserve it, but it's going to happen.
oh and last year FSU was 5-3 in the ACC and 8-4 regular season, Clemson was 4-4 conference and 7-5 regular season. FSU won head to head.
wmatistic, truth is, Florida has better athletes at every single position and maybe ONE Florida State starter would start for Florida. I saw the game, Florida could have easily won 63-0 if they wanted to.
Comparing QB stats is always faulty because if Tebow pressed for 4 quarters a game, he would have much higher stats. Meanwhile the Florida State quarterback was always in a position where he had to press due to close games or losses.
An example is the NFL, when a passer passes for 300 yards or more, they only win 53 percent of the time. But when a GREAT QUARTERBACK Passes for 300 yards, they win nearly all the time (Brady, Manning).
Tebow is a great quarterback and the FSU quarterback wouldn't even be his backup.
Uh, you do realize Meyer heavily recruited a lot of the FSU players, right? Do you think he agrees none could start for him? Cause even Gator fans will tell you he wanted Manual to rake over after Tebow. And Bradham, and Mcdaniel, and Reid, etc. I'm not saying they don't have more talent. Clearly they do. But the exageration of the gap is ridiculous.
Edit: VT just accepted the Chick Fil A invitation which I now hear was the only obstacle for the Gator taking FSU. They got an exception a few years ago that says regardless of the one loss difference rule they don't have to take the ACC title game loser, which means they are within the rules to take FSU now, as VT was the only other conference team with two fewer losses.

..... This logic makes zero sense.
Teams throw when they're behind and run when they're ahead. His stats are legit.
It is the policy of the documentary crew to remain true observers and not interfere with its subjects.
It's too soon to talk about the Riders... But Go Pack Go! (7-4, 2nd NFC North)
Florida has been in several close games this year. And the last two paragraphs made zero sense. Gee, Brady and Manning may be winning more games than other QBs because they're on better teams than other QBs. Vince Young has the best win percentage of active QBs anyways.

One more go at this. If you are leading a game, you run the ball more often to kill the clock. If you are behind, you pass the ball more often to stop the clock. If Florida is in a close game that they are winning, they will still be more inclined to run than pass, all things being equal.
And the winning % of passing QBs was an example of how stats can be distorted out of context, and helped explain why a QB on a winning team wouldn't necessarily have a ton of yards.
For a current example of the yardage phenonmenon, note how last year Drew Brees almost set the record for passing yardage. Nobody would argue that Drew Brees is playing any worse this year than last year, but this year on an undefeated team, he's only 5th in yardage.
Rushing yardage often goes the same way, too. If anyone tells you that Carolina should run more because they haven't won any games that Deangelo Williams has <100 yards, smack them for me.
EDIT: I have no opinion on Tim Tebow; I was just explaining the logic behind shawnpatrick's statements.

Your entire argument is that Tim Tebow plays on a great team. That is my argument too. We're just on different sides of the fence as to whether or not this makes him the best QB in the country.

A bit off-topic, I know, but how many times is VT going to come to Atlanta? I'm more than a little surprised as this is their THIRD time playing here this season alone. I just hope for their sake they don't lose again; their regional fanbase will not be pleased.

Well, they didn't have a choice the 2nd time XD but yeah, that's a little unusual. I think they'll match up well against.. well, who would they play? LSU? They can beat LSU.
