So for the second1 time this year, Chris Jericho is going viral. This time, he got caught using the other f-bomb during a screening2 for the upcoming movie "Albino Farm." GLAAD3 is having no part of his near-immediate apology saying Jericho's apology was "hollow...and insincere." GLAAD is also quite upset after having a meeting with Vince McMahon about the power of words no less than three months ago. For his part, Jericho seems buckled in on his twitter4 account, but makes no offical apology there.
Now usually this is a story that can be pushed off the side and forgotten in a matter of hours. However, the timing of this situation is interesting. This week, in Kansas City, fans5 of the Chiefs have organized a petition to cut running back Larry Johnson about seventy-five yards short of the all-time Chiefs rushing title. Johnson, you may recall, is currently suspended by the team following a series of gay slurs6 a couple of weeks ago.
After the commotion against Johnson following his outburst, can we expect a similar situation with Jericho? It's kind of unfair, like comparing apples to tangerines since Jericho is somewhat of an actor. Watching the video, you can see most of it is just heel-ing away, but you can also say that he seems to drop the word fag like it's pretty casual. What are some of your thoughts? I was already pretty interested to see where this Larry Johnson thing was going to go, but now I have a wrestling version to watch too.
The timing also coincides with this flap via Infinity Ward (ncsu.edu).
Originally posted by the above articleOnly a few days later, Infinity Ward fell into another rut with its release of a viral video depicting Cole Hamels, the Philadelphia Phillies pitcher, giving a public service announcement about 'grenade spamming'. For those unfamiliar with gaming jargon, 'grenade spamming' either involves randomly throwing grenades or continuously throwing extensive amounts in one location - often considered cheap tactics. Infinity Ward managed to pull the video extremely early to minimize the backlash - not because of the video's profanity, but because of it's psuedo-service announcement: "Fight Against Grenade Spamming". The title intentionally spells out FAGS, which in most online gaming, is used devoid of its actual meaning; or in other words, it is often just another insult people shout behind faceless characters.
"All RAW is these days is a cheap version of Saturday Night Live, so if you wanna tune in to watch the amazing star power of Al Sharpton and Nancy O'Dell, go ahead! Who's gonna host next week, Big Bird? Wow, that's must-see TV!" - John Morrison (10/16/09 Smackdown!)
The man who Chris Jericho used racial and homophobic slurs against at the Sacramento Horror Film Festival told TMZ that Jericho was an "asshole" and that Jericho's apology was "crap."
Mr. Lobo, the host of the film festival, said he was deeply offended by the insensitive remarks, saying that Jericho's claim that "everyone on stage was having a blast" was false.
"I don't think [Chris] has the capacity to give an honest apology," he said. "I don't think it's in his character."
So.... between this and the whole punching someone thing (no matter how provoked) I'm kinda getting the feeling that Jericho might be a bit of a douchebag.
Kevin Kelly: "Mr. Austin, would you like to comment on Wade Keller's Take that endorsing the XFL hurts your anti-authority character?"
Steve Austin: "Oh shit, he actually said that? I thought the boys in the back were ribbing me!"
Kelly: "No, he really said that. Did they tell you the part about you sitting in the stands, looking all skeptical?"
Austin: "AHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah... oh man that was too much."

Two things... First, his 'character' would NOT apologize for ANYTHING. He's a HEEL! Second, Why apologize for something you are not sorry for? Last time I looked, homophobia is still pretty prevalent in this country and I know for a fact that he goes to church whenever possible near his home in St Petersburg Florida. Religious types like him are not sorry for their beliefs.
On a last note, Hadji is kinda funny and I think he was just in character.

Character in this case means his character, as in the type of guy he is -- not the character he plays on TV.
The thing that makes this whole thing even funnier is Ole "Meltzer?..Schmeltzer!" Anderson kept doing his infamous voice over through all the carnage, not seeing what had just happened. Here's an audio snippet, enjoy: http://www.
