Boise State are some happy fuckers tonight.

Anyone still think USC is better and more deserving than Cincinnati?

Duke is 3-1 in the ACC and controls their own destiny. I'd love to see a Duke vs Maryland rematch in the ACC title game.. and it IS the ACC and all.

Iowa played like ass and won 42-24.

Texas destroyed a pretty solid Okie State team and seems to be heating up at the right time. They better hope K State doesn't make the Big 12 Title game, although I am assuming K State lost to OU so that helps Texas out.

My top 5:
1. Alabama
2. Florida
3. Texas
4. Cincinnati
5. Iowa

Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you...

My top ten:

1. Alabama
2. Florida
3. Texas
4. Cincinnati
5. Boise State
6. Oregon
7. TCU
8. Iowa
9. Georgia Tech
10. Penn State

It's always a joy to watch USC get exposed (so to answer your question, anyone who does is [bleeping] nuts) but I'm not celebrating yet. One would think that this loss ends all BCS hopes for them, but with the Big 12 so horrid this year (the only other Big 12 team in the last BCS standings was Oklahoma State, and well, they just got curb-stomped by Texas), it's inevitable that the Fiesta will take a team like USC as its replacement for losing Texas to the national title game provided that USC can run the rest of the table and finish 10-2. Their schedule: at Arizona State, then Stanford, UCLA and Arizona all at home. I really hope the Trojans lose another game, but I think it's going to take Texas dropping out of the title hunt for that to happen, and I don't think it will (K-State is no threat to them - yes, K-State got handled by Oklahoma - and there's no one of consequence left on the Longhorns schedule). I'm curious to see what the BCS actually says on Monday, though. They may surprise me and knock USC further down than I'm expecting.

Barring a loss by either team, I think Boise and TCU both go to the BCS this year. Eyes are watching, and if either (especially Boise, considering the early BCS returns) gets excluded for money reasons, that may be the straw that breaks the camel's back and finally prompts some action against the NCAA. But all in all, good day for them as they wax another conference foe and get a boost off their marquee win.

I love how you talk about Duke as if they have a good chance. Their wins have all come against the dregs of the conference and I don't see any way they knock off North Carolina on the road, Georgia Tech at home and Miami on the road, all in a row. (Especially Georgia Tech, which looks like the class of the conference.) It's more likely they'll miss out on a bowl than make the conference title game. The ACC is nuts, but it's not *that* nuts.

Iowa played like ass for the first half, then it played like the national title contender it's being viewed as in the second. I have my doubts about granting them *that* level of stature (as my rankings indicate), but the Northwestern and Minnesota home games are games they should win, meaning the trip to the Big House would be for the conference, provided the Buckeyes survive the Whiteout in Happy Valley next week. Still, right now the projected Rose Bowl matchup is Oregon v. Iowa, a tremendous breath of fresh air after years of USC and Ohio State unjustly hogging the spotlight.

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

Here's a list of teams that can get a BCS bid still I think: SEC title game loser, TCU, Boise, Penn State, hell maybe even Cincy if they look really good in every other game and lose to Pitt by 1. I'm not even convinced USC isn't going to lose again, Stanford and Arizona can knock them off and there's always UCLA. But you are right in the alarming lack of quality BCS teams this year. There's no real 2nd team from ACC, Big 12, Big East, or Pac 10 right now. How often does that happen? Big 10 actually has 3 teams that could make BCS games by winning out, of course only 2 actually could since they all play each other still (except IOWA/PSU)

I will also disagree that Kansas State got "handled" by Oklahoma. I think it was a single digit win for OU after they went up by 21. Kansas State owns Texas and is getting better. If K State and Texas meet in the Big 12 title, watch out.

I do agree that TCU and Boise will both make BCS games this year provided they both win out. For one thing, Boise beat a potential national title contender. Secondly, TCU would have played a decent schedule and gone undefeated in what some view as a BCS worthy conference. Third, as I said above, there's no strong BCS teams outside of the undefeated ones. So why the hell not, this would be the year and people want to watch them play the big boys. BCS = MONEY in this case works out for the smaller guys too.

Oregon vs Iowa would be an awesome Rose Bowl matchup and I look forward to it if so, but if Oregon and Iowa both lose a game before then that'd really open up a can of worms. I do think Iowa is in danger of losing to Northwestern (and no, Iowa was NOT impressive in the 2nd half.. their QB threw FOUR interceptions in the 3rd quarter, it was just the last 15 minutes they dominated. If it wasn't Indiana they were playing, they'd probably be 7-1 now) and Oregon might have trouble with Oregon State.

Finally, I'm not sure when I said Duke had a chance. I said I'd like to see it and I mentioned they have won 3 in a row. I think they are capable of knocking off GT just because GT looks like the best team in the ACC this week and I believe the best team in the ACC this week is 0-597 since the two divisions started and GT has no defense whatsoever. They win that game, they can certainly beat UNC and Wake as well. That'd be 6 wins for DUKE FOOTBALL in the ACC alone. Not very likely, but certainly possible. They even gave VT fits for a while.

At the very least USC is out of the Rose Bowl. 2 back and the tie breaker the other way means Oregon really has to collapse for USC to do their traditional 17 point win against a Big Ten team in Pasadena.
Now, USC and Ohio State have dominated their 2 conference, but they haven't been meeting in the Rose Bowl during this run. And, I know USC is never behind large numbers, but, 7 minutes left down 24, why are you punting on 4th and 7?
There really is one team left that can restart the chaos theory. LSU. If they could ever run the table and thus knock off Florida and Alabama, then the real shit stirrer argument could start (especially if Cincy and Iowa have losses) over a 1 loss LSU, a 1 loss Oregon and an unbeaten Boise. If Oregon ever jumped a Boise team that beat them by double digits, then the beauty really begins.
As for hopes to knock off Texas, I'd have more faith in A@M pulling off the stunner than anyone from the North. And, I really have no faith in A@M doing that.
Would have been nice if the Wake defense could have held up for 1 more play. If a team ever went 4-4 and had the tie-breaker in the ACC but went 5-7 overall, would they be able to play in the conference title game?

LSU is not going to be in the national title unless Florida loses twice. They will not have a Florida/LSU rematch and why would they? Might as well do Boise/Oregon in the Rose while they're at it.

Yes. Why not? You need 6 wins to go to a bowl game and they'd have the 6th win. The fun thin g would be if they were 4-8! I believe conference champs automatically go regardless of record anyways.

If LSU knocks off Alabama and wins out in the regular season, they are West Division champions, and would play Florida in the Georgia Dome for the SEC Title. Florida loses that game, they would probably fall out of title game consideration, as the later you lose, the worse off you are.
If Iowa somehow plays in the BCS Title Game, why not Boise in the Rose, since Pasadena has the Title Game also.

If ND wins out with a 10-2 record they would be BCS eligible as well. You can better bet the controversy will start there when they get a spot while a TCU and Boise St is out in the cold. I still think the bowls are just exhibition games minus the title game and they are meaningless other then the giant cash payout. Even ESPN commented how there was barely anyone ther for the TCU game. You think those Bowls aren't going to weigh that against those teams. No sponsors wants an empty stadium and teams like Notre Dame will pack them in.

Boise St was the real winner of the Oregon/USC game. Now they can use that win over Oregon to climb to #4 and pray for a Texas loss as long as Alabama/Florida doesn't lose before the title game. I still say that we will be stuck with six undefeated teams and everything will be up in the air. Indiana will giving up in the last five minutes, got hometowned with the TD that got called back. If the officials are going to help the undefeated teams in the conference then, all those teams are going to go undefeated. LSU/Alabama is going to be the real telling point if the SEC officiating is on the up and up.

The other interesting question I have there is if I remember correctly a three way tie atop a division can be decided by BCS rankings. What if none of them are ranked?

Those are two separate questions. No, USC is not more deserving. However, if they played Cincinnati next week, I wouldn't be putting my money on the Bearcats.

I hate to say it, but Oregon is REALLY good.

    Three (or More) Team Tie
(Once tie has been reduced to two teams, the two-team tiebreaker format is used)

    1. Combined head-to-head record among the tied teams

    2. Records of the tied teams within the division.

    3. Head-to-head competition vs. the team within the division with the best overall (divisional or conference) record, and proceeding through the division. Multiple ties within the division will be broken first to last.

    4. Overall record for non-divisional teams.

    5. Combined record versus all common non-divisional teams.

    6. Record versus common non-divisional with the best overall Conference (divisional) and non-divisional record and proceeding through the other common non-divisional teams based on their order of finish within the division.

    7. The tied team with the highest ranking in the Bowl Championship Series Standings following the conclusion of regular season games shall be the divisional representative in the ACC Championship Game, unless the second of the tied teams is ranked within five-or-fewer places of the highest ranked tied team. In this case, the head-to-head results of the top two ranked tied teams shall determine the representative in the ACC Championship Game.

    8. The representative shall be chosen by a draw.

It's Vandy, who lost to Army, so I doubt the starters see the 2nd half anyway. Of course, if they really wanted to demonstrate how seriously they took his actions, they could have suspended him for the in-state war, the last chance for Florida to lose before the SEC Title Game. That's right, the battle with the Golden Panthers of Florida International.

I fully expect FSU to put up 30-40 points on the Gators.

And give up 50-60.

If Kiffin spent 1/100th of his time figuring out how to do clock management at the end of games that he does figuring out ways to tweak Urban Meyer, he might end up being a halfway decent coach.

I don't care if he improves his coaching or not since I don't like UT, but I love that he does this stuff. Meyer does it on a daily basis as well, Kiffin's comments just get national play.

That doesn't look like the right shade of red for the jersey; it looks more Cardinal/Falcon red than Seminole red. The all red with the half-feather down the leg is kinda cool, but it doesn't look like the right shade in those pictures. The red/black really looks Falcon-esque, though.
