Wow, no takers? (My excuse is that I've been out of town!)

I'm thinking I'll probably keep watching this, at least for a while more, but not with anything approaching the rabid obsession that I give Lost. Occasionally it's very, very cool -- like the opening scene in this episode, where we saw a view of the GBO in a park. That was gorgeous, & incredibly well done. Tossing in the quirky characters like Ned Ned & Didi adds some nice light moments. But then we get the heavy-handed writing, & the soap opera acting (from actors that we know are better than that ... I'm looking at the director here!), conclusions lept & plot holes abandoned.

And there aren't any of the main characters that I really care much about. I just hope that they've written Simon well enough to generate some interest for me.

I liked Ned in this episode, & we're definitely going to have to keep track of him to see how he ends up with all those hot women ogling him in his FF. In spite of his unfortunate splotchy skin pigmentation problem. Which he has in spite of the fact that he's been diagnosed, & will be on meds ... so he doesn't die. Uh, yah.

Good chase scene through the trailer park. Which seems to have totally distracted them from why they were there in the first place.

Alda (?) has been in custody in LA county jail for the last 2 weeks. So how does she know that Noh thinks he's going to die? "He posted it on the internet." Uh, they let suspected terrorists use the internet in LA county jail?
Lloyd could still be interesting, & I have high hopes for "Simon".

Much too uneven for me to really get into.

I had man-flu! There is no better excuse.

I've really liked the last couple of weeks. Still some minor quibbles, but overall it's much better paced and offering a lot more intrigue than the first couple of episodes which were just way too......cluttered?

The opening scene was awesome. Very cool stuff indeed. I wouldn't mind seeing more flashbacks to the 'blackout' from around the world as the season goes on. I like the fact they're hinting at there being a "why" as well as a "how" that's at least going to be half way rational/explainable. Really though, it's taken THIS LONG for someone to ask what the motive was? And the person who finally asks the question is the terrorist??! The world is definitely doomed.

The reveal at the end was nice. I'm still thinking the dude in the hospital (Jack Davenport, I forget the character's name) isn't 100% evil. Either his wife isn't dead and the bad guys are using her to make him to naughty, or the son isn't actually autistic but is in fact a much bigger (though unwilling/unwitting) part of the "how" of the blackout than we yet know.

Olivia's starting to annoy me more than she's probably meant to. She's leaving him anyways, so Mark should get shot and start working on the hot babysitter already.

The chief continues to be one of my favourite 'authority figures' on TV. Kudos to them for not going to one of the usual cliches there and allowing the guy to give a bit of comic relief AND come off as smarter than his underlings once in a while.

"Alda (?) has been in custody in LA county jail for the last 2 weeks. So how does she know that Noh thinks he's going to die?"

Mark confirmed it before she said it, no? Although she did kind of hint that she knew something. If she's involved in the blackout though, that might explain how she knows what he saw.

Which he has in spite of the fact that he's been diagnosed, & will be on meds ... so he doesn't die. Uh, yah.

Wasn't it a "treat but can't cure" deal? I found that weird as well but I might've missed something.

Good chase scene through the trailer park. Which seems to have totally distracted them from why they were there in the first place.

Yeah. Many things confused me about this.

1a. What sort of FBI agent thinks a terrorist will carry his uranium in a box labelled "Yellow Cake"?
1b. What sort of agent OPENS a box he believes to carry uranium without getting the boys in the beekeeper suits round first?
2. What sort of drug dealer keeps his stash in that box? The sort that doesn't dump his stash even though he was out of sight of the agents numerous times during the chase I guess.
3. The dude just got caught with about 30 bags of weed and could easy get pulled up for resisting arrest, but he's out on the town in his pimp mobile in 6 months?
4. Where the hell did the dealer go? Did they even cuff him or was he just left to wander off?

Anyway, overall pretty good aside from some relatively minor quibbles. I think it's improved each week so I'll definitely stick with it.

I think 4 resolves 3.

I was debating starting a thread myself but the waning interest in prior weeks had me thinking I was probably the only person left watching.

Thanks to the awesome opening I've had Bjork stuck in my head all week.

Yay! Char-- er, Simon has finally appeared! And we also got another former Lostie as Ned Ned played Claire's ex/Aaron's daddy.

Do we know what the terrorist chick saw in her flash? IF she wasn't bluffing, perhaps her flash tipped her off that Noh gets murdered.

The line about Mark being the Shakespeare of eggs or breakfast at the beginning felt forced... as if they couldn't wait to call him Shakespeare.

You KNEW that Ned wasn't going to die in the OR. Not that the visions have to come true, but its WAY too soon to start disproving them.

Overall, I agree with dMr. The last few episodes have this show moving in the right direction.

You believe me, don't you?
Please believe what I just said...

When she got pulled out of the truck, she was going on about "the horses being out of the stable". Or were they in the stable? Something about horses, anyway.

I like the show. I don't know how they're going to extend it beyond one season, though. We really should have all the answers by April 29, 2010, and then what?

"I blacked out. I was somewhere else. There was a storm. The horses were scared." For whatever that's worth... :-)

Immediately after the commercial, what I assumed to be the Indio police were stuffing him in a cop car & driving him away. This was as Mark & Noh were just starting their heartfelt little convo in the trailer park.

If we assume that "Customer Choice Restaurant Group" has some involvement with any/all of 1) the terrorists, 2) the GBO-causers, 3) a drug cartel, I'd say it's fair enough that they could/would get this guy out of the Indio jail. Particularly since *he* was just really wrong there:
1) What kind of big pimpin' mofo wears his bling while cooking fries? Doesn't your bling get all gunked up with the fat vapor?
1a) He also had on a couple of those big, klunky 2-finger rings. Doesn't that constitute a health code violation?
1b) Who wears their classic, mint condition Kool Moe Dee to cook at a fast food joint? White pants & pricey tennies.
2) Not to sound all politically incorrect, but, a middle eastern guy cooking fries in Indio? They went out of their way to make a point of Indio, which is so very heavily hispanic.

Nothing about him being there added up for me. I'm also not so sure about the manager-guy shouting about "Somebody get some burgers for these FBI guys please!" That sounded to me more like "anybody in the back who shouldn't be here should bail". The politically incorrect joke would have been when the FBI guys singled out the middle eastern guy to follow, rather than the flock of illegal dishwashers & fry cooks who were also bailing.

Now maybe, if the FBI guys had gone back to the restaurant, retrieved the voluminous list of employees of the one fast food restaurant which got flung in the chase, & followed up on that, maybe they could have figured out why their suspect Alda happened to pull that company name out of the air. Maybe if they'd followed up with the manager about who that guy was. No indication that any of that happened.

Also, we've assumed he was selling. I suppose he could have been buying for the terrorist enclave which has the yellow cake uranium. Just happened to put it in that box, just 'cause a little irradiation never hurt anybody.

Ah, I missed the Indio police thing, but that makes sense. To be honest I just wrote off the whole Indio thing as a red herring from Alda to distract them. I guess Mr Bling could have used the fact Noh punched him to get the charges dropped as well now that I think about it.

But yeah, I'd like some closure there, or at least an indication that they went back to the burger place to make sure there was no other dodginess going on.

Oh, any number of possibilities making varying degrees of sense!

1. This season ends (in storyline terms) on April 28 2010 or sooner.
2. They catch Suspect Zero at the end of this season but he turns out to be but a small pawn and next season they go after the REAL big evil cheeses who hold the answers to the big questions.
3. Next season is a flashback to the flashforward in Somalia.
4. They catch the bad guys but one remains free and this season ends with him causing another flashforward.

Depends how and why the blackout was caused really, but if I was a betting man I'd go with option 2 right now. Option 1 would piss me off royally and I don't see the Somalia thing being worthy of a full season. There's probably more possibilities that I'm not near smart enough to think of though.

I'm happy the show came back and would sign up for another 12 episodes next year. I haven't been paying enough attention to know if that's a possibility, though the ending made sure to be open enough for just that.
