I hate being right. It's really hard to get excited for a title match when the title gets hotshotted every few weeks.
But booking issues aside (UT goes over Punk clean as a sheet?), this was a really entertaining PPV. The three HiaC matches all delivered, the tag title match was excellent, and Morrison/Ziggler was pretty decent. An easy thumbs up!
Looking back at the prediction thread it amazes me so many people actually thought Punk had a chance against the Undertaker. Even when he has to roll down to the ring in a wheelchair he will still go over any young guy who isn't over 280 pounds.
Undertaker and Punk opening the show let the air out of my balloon right away. Taker wins clean with the Tombstone is telling us something we already know. Any other finish besides the obvious would have been more satisfactory.
Mickie drilled Alicia on top of her head with that jumping DDT. Ugly.
The announcing during Orton vs. Cena was horrendous. Nearly everything Cole and Lawler said was some sort of rhetorical question. "Did he do it?!" "What happened?!" etc. Were they even watching the match or was Lawler too busy updating his Memphis Mayoral campaign Twitter? I realized that years ago the great announce teams used to provide perspective and analysis; explain, enlighten and entertain. Today, Cole and Lawler merely reflect the audience's confusion.
I thought the best match for pure entertainment was the Unified Tag Title match.
Cody and Ted came off like morons. Absolute morons. Obviously, they had to stall until Triple H finally emerged with bolt cutters to turn the tables, but that meant they had nearly ten minutes alone in the Cell with Michaels and they never put him away. They looked like total goofs having such an advantage and completely blowing it.

I looked at it as them wanting to completely destroy Michaels and DX rather than simply win. They wanted to ruin DX and make names for themselves and royally kicking DX's ass would do that. But they waited a tick too long to finish him. Give'em credit for outsmarting DX by locking HHH outside the cage, at least.
Boo on Punk losing the belt. Dave Meltzer seems to intimate that there's a story behind that, at least one bigger than "Undertaker always wins". Anyone got the skinny?
Looking forward to DX Vs. JeriShow at some point in the near future. Who'd have thought Show and Batista would actively contribute to the match of the night?
Except for a situation where he might be working again later in the night, and I doubt it even then, has Taker ever had the opening match on a PPV? And to win a World Title on top of that? Perhaps he wanted to go on 1st so that they didn't have an extra few hours to change their minds in the back.
I am sure as the day goes on, we will get more details. It is a bit ironic that the WWE gave the push to Punk due to his straight edge lifestyle then he goes and has an incident. I am curious to see what kind of incident it is ie a making an ass out of himself or more political. As for the PPV, I still don't understand how you can have three Hell in a Cell matches with no blood in any of them. It would be ok if one of them had no blood, but all three seems very lame. The new PG format blows. I understand there are reasons for it ie keeping Cena strong, Linda and King's political runs and getting more advertisers' dollars. Yet, I wonder it is going to last since UFC crushed Raw this week and TNA seems to be going into a more hardcore edge of late. WWE will still be dominate even in this format, but probably not as big as they want to be though.

Apparently this is part of the reason why WWE decided to open the Hell In A Cell PPV with CM Punk dropping the World title to The Undertaker."
Taken from a NEWZ site, I am in class and don't have any time to really delve further into things.
The story I've read is that it was a dress code thing, and he said Cena doesn't have to follow dress code, and therefore the WWE assumed he was implying he was as big a star as Cena. If that story is true, I'm glad they continually shit on the paying customers to bury talent. They couldn't have done that on Smackdown instead?
EDIT - There have been Hell in a Cells without blood. Actually, besides Brock/Taker and HHH/Batista, I don't remember how many exactly even had blood.

I remain impressed that the size difference was never mentioned in the packaging of the angle. Punk wasn't given the small codewords of "scrappy" or "tenacious," like Rey gets. It's possible they were trying to whistle around the elephant in the room.
But Punk did get Umaga in the GTS at least twice. He's definitely not puny.

The first Hell in a Cell, HHH/Foley, Foley/Taker, Austin/Taker, Six pack hell in a cell and others. It wasn't until recently that there was no blood like the Edge/Taker. I do think that without blood the match is just a giant cage match and not the be all end all match it was supposed to be.
If the CM punk story is true, then WWE has lost its dam mind. Punk is one of their break out stars and if they bury him then its not going to lead to anything good. This pecking order crap has got to stop to. Its not the old good days anymore and if someone asks a reasonable question about a policy they shouldn't be punished. Punk is at least doing his job with people booing unlike Cena. Cena's star has faded of late and he is not going to be the breakout transcendent star like Rock, Austin or Hogan. At this point, Cena is there to the PG Superman champ for the kiddies.

That's close to what Meltzer says on his audio show. His story - and he does mention that he didn't know the exact conversation - was that Undertaker went to Punk and suggested that Punk should dress better since he is the champion and representing the company and whatnot. Punk said "what about Cena?" since Cena doesn't have to follow the dress code. The story got back to the office, who took it as Punk saying he was as big a star as Cena, and we see what happened. Meltzer goes on to say that they're moving in the direction of Undertaker vs. Batista (hey folks who like Smackdown, sorry about your luck), and Punk is the odd man out.

Great. Punk misbehaves, and WWE decides to punish the fans for it. Ugh.

I think you're confusing the people that post on boards such as this one with the fans. The fans love The Undertaker and consider him taking the title from Punk to be a good thing.
I always thought guys looked funny giving a promo in the ring wearing a t-shirt and briefs, so I can see why they might want him to dress differently. Not that he should wear a suit, but even a guy named Punk can throw on a pair of jeans every once in a while.
That being said, if this story is true, this may be the dumbest reason for a title change I can remember. There are plenty of reasons to think they were just going to put the belt on Taker regardless, but Punk's "actions" may have been the reason it happened the way it did (a glorified squash).

If the dress code story is the true reason for this, I'm hopeful that as a new babyface champion that the Undertaker, in his role as a locker room leader, breaks out the Ric Flair style suits so that he sets a good example in public for the company.
