I thought it was hillarious and you could hear a pin drop and the air being sucked out of the room after she said it. To their benefit, she and Kristen Wiig kept going and finished the sketch. Slate was also seen hugging head writer Seth Meyer during the end of show wave, so I'm sure they were all trying to be supportive of her.
The rest of the show was good, but not great, and probably a little indicative of them having the extra half-hour to fill every week with other topical comedy that the regular show felt a little "lite."
Will be interesting to see what the fallout of this is (if anything). I also wonder if fellow live tv "F-Bomb" dropper Bono had any words of support for her . . .

I don't think there will be any major issue from this- happened after midnight, they dubbed it out of the West Coast airing, from what I've heard, and it was pretty clearly an accident, going by the "Oh, crap!" puffed-out face she pulled right after she said it. She'll probably get a talking-to from someone but that should be about it.
It's double-edged - if it hadn't been for that f-bomb, there wouldn't have been anything to talk about because as hard as it is to believe, a show where you had Megan Fox and U2... was just so BORING.
The flight attendant sketch was just excruciating and let all the air out.
I fell asleep midway through the show, so I figured I had missed it. Turns out, I had seen that sketch, and it was so boring that I didn't even notice.
Did they really think that putting a newbie in a sketch with "frickin'" repeated so many times would lead to anything but disaster?
SNL premieres are almost always brutal, especially in recent years. They go for a big name (Michael Phelps, Lebron James, Megan Fox) to create buzz for the episode, not at all someone who can actually act. Aside from the phone sex hotline spoof, this whole episode was totally forgettable.
Kirk, crackers are a family food. Happy families. Maybe single people eat crackers, we don't know. Frankly, we don't want to know. It's a market we can do without.
Has it gone viral ? Are people talking about it ? Was it a planned "Ernie Anastos moment ?
I hadn't heard about it at all until I clicked on this thread this morning. Whether it was planned or not, it's not going to hurt or help the show. I haven't thought SNL to be relevant (except for the Palin skewering) for quite some time.

Exactly. It aired in what is known as "safe harbor," although when I helped at the local radio station, we were supposed to air a disclaimer if any indecent or profane material was going to be aired.
At least it happened around 12:45 when most people are no longer watching. Thank goodness for DVR! I agree with Big Bad, a skit repeating "freaking" over and over is just asking for it.
I thought the show was pretty good, and was surprised Fox was did as well as she did. Maybe the show is not as "relevant" as it once was, but it's still quite funny at times to me, which is all I ask for.

Radar Online (radaronline.com) says she's safe. I don't remember Oteri catching flack for saying the s-word during her "Angry Old Woman on the Porch" skits. But that was before YouTube.

When sketches like "Your Mom Talks To Megan Fox While You Get Ready" actually make it to air, it's time to put this one out of its misery.
Have you caught the tail end of the 90 minute show before? There is not often a lot of quality control there.

Exactly. It's not like Chevy, Belushi, or Murray were putting on comedy classics after 12:30 either. It's always been cruise control at that point in anticipation of the after party. Regarding the skit in question, Kristen Wiig can make me laugh in almost anything, so I guess it's just a matter of taste/opinion.

I wonder who the first person to say this was. I bet it was back in 1976 with someone saying "the show just can't be funny now that Chevy isn't around."

Hahahaha yeah since somebody said the same thing about SNL over 30 years ago it still clearly deserves to be around.
Please forgive me for being skeptical that the show will be good again.

Nothing personal, it just seems like there is a rush every year to be the first person to say "How can SNL still be on the air?" and predictions of gloom ensue. (This same thing happens with the Simpsons every season.) It is like the changing of the seasons. Of course it was just last year that SNL was seemingly on top of the world with the election giving them renewed cultural relevance. But now after what sounds like a terrible show, it is time to shuffle it off to the graveyard.
Most likely this year will suck, as about 1/2 to 2/3 of SNL seasons tend to suck. Most likely in another year or two they'll have a good year and everyone will say "Wow, SNL is good again!" and be amazed as though this same cycle doesn't happen every couple of years.
