Vincent D'Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe and Eric Bogosian will all be leaving the series after the ninth season. Jeff Goldblum will be the lead and Saffron Burrows might be replacing Julianne Nicholson who left already.
Wow. With all the cast changes, the one constant has been D'Onofrio and Erbe. I'm going to miss both for very different reasons (Nicholson too!).
I love D'Onofrio's character. He's almost like Columbo in a way. He acts clueless, and sometimes klutzy, to extract info out of the perp. I'll miss Erbe because she's the daughter Anna from "What About Bob?". One of my favorite movies that I never get sick of watching.

This is HORRIBLE news. My wife and I have watched every episode. We go out of our way to watch new ones. I dare say this is my favorite show on television, with Goren and Eames being two of my favorite characters on TV.
Detectives Goren and Eames are why we watch(ed) the show. Goren for the obvious reasons, but Eames due to her being a deadpan snarker and an excellent foil to Goren. Oh sure, we both enjoyed Detective Logan, but as the article states we've been watching Goren and Eames for nine seasons now. Chris Noth leaving the show was tolerable because we still had the solid duo remaining.
To quote my wife; "well we aren't watching that show anymore!". I'm inclined to agree with her. My hope is that if this is true, at least they get a great send off like Chris Noth did. But I'd rather they stay.
You never know I guess. They brought back McCoy, after all.
