After posting this I felt awful a sick feeling in my stomach, I didn't want to believe it. Then I saw Kawshen's post right before I went to bed, and I huge reliefe came over me and went to sleep with a smile on my face. I was thinking. I'll get on tomorrow and rip Meltzer the a new one about being so irresponsible to actually post a false story this damaging. Got on Wienerville (first stop like always) and see almost 2 full more pages, about 40 more posts and I smiled thinking ahh my fellow Wieners are piling on him this should be fun. Only to see that the story is back up and others are confirming it.
One thing I've always defended the WWE were the people involved. Anyone who says everything WWE does is wrong, I always come back with. Atleast Rock isn't caught with half a dozen DUI's, or Jericho isn't sniffing Cocaine off a prositutes body, and atleast Stone Cold isn't beat his wife... I know some wrestlers have shacky morals but I always thought the guys on top of the WWE had to prove themselves to be responsible and good people. I don't think I could look at anyone in this industry the same.
What the hell is going on here, from flights from hell to supposite good guys acting like scum. What's next? How has everything seemed to change in the last half year
I'm sure the $hit hits the fan the media will pick up on this. They didn't pick up on firings because they don't know if it's a work or not, hell WE are debating it how would they know. But when one of two wrestling icons (sorry H) of the 90's is getting a police reportfor beating his Wrestling Wife, that story is just too juicy to pass up.

I hope Debra wisens up and divorces his ass, takes half his money and decides to press charges and then, after Austin spends a few months getting fucked up the ass daily by Mark Henry's evil twin, he spends the rest of his life on the Jake Roberts retirement tour...
Fucking hick.

there is definatly something seriously wrong with Steve Austin, and my question is why didn't that big ass pig JR pick up on any of this? he is the head of talent realtions right?
You guys are ready to hang austin for what he did to debra but you are the same people who have been watching the wwf for the past 5 years, you've all seen women treated like dogs on wwf/wwe tv and it's no big deal? it's all ok because it's sportz entertainment? But when it happens to a woman in her own home and it's nobody else's business except hers, his, and the law. we go nuts over it
Vince Mcmahon degrades women for years in front of millions of people and we call him a genious. Steve Williams makes 1 big mistake and we want him dead.
I've never been a Steve Austin fan, but I really feal bad for the guy now, what he did was wrong, he needs help.
Son of a freaking wench. Now I wish I hadn't deleted my post in the other thread or I would be looking like a genius now.
I hope someone cracks a chair over his head while he is out getting plastered tonight. Stupid idiot. Well, I really don't, but it makes me feel better saying it.
Like most folks, I have my theories, but I am not going to speculate on what is wrong with him, but he obviously has some big time issues. Let's just pray he does't turn into the 2000's version of Jake the Snake.
I am not a has bean! I AM THE BEST WIENER IN ALL THE LAND!
Stinger, I think it has something to do with, ya know, wrestling being fake. This shit ain't fake. Period. Don't even compare the two.
Story: Guy gets hit with a chair in a bar, gets hurt. We can't be mad about it because we watch wrestling. In the words of many famous people: "Please!"

GO STINGER!! Major points for telling it like it fucking IS.
[points taken away for being naive ... Cynic though I may be, if you think this is the first and only time Steve's hit a woman, you're kidding yourself. It's just the first time he got caught.]
I'm very interested to see what CRZ and Scott Keith, two guys who have defended Austin in his situation with management, have to say about this whole business. Will it change their tone? I don't see how either of them could continue to support that man.
On another tangent, did you hear JR talking about how therapy wasn't "manly" and that it was "bullshit"? You don't think they've known about Austin's mental instability and did nothing about it cause it would kill his gimmick or be "a cop out"? If so, then McMahon and JR are more heartless and ignorant than I first thought.

Does one REALLY have to do with the other?
Seriously.
I still support Austin on the walkout bit. Hell, I support Nash and X-Pac on their deal the night of the karaoke war. If nobody's running the ship, if you can make sure you don't sink, then dammit, don't sink.
But the Debra deal...*sigh*

I have always been freaked out by some of the segments over the years. Lawler is a pedophilic pervert to me and Vince's segments with the women just freak me out considering he has cheated on Linda in the past. Now Vince has always tried to straddle the line between his make believe world and reality in order to bring us a quality, well maybe not lately, product. It really seems as though Austin began to believe and live his ass-kicking redneck gimmick. So much so that it became reality.
Thank you to Fro in another thread for pulling out the Raven quote. I will never look at what he says the same again.

Honestly, I think they have *a lot* to do with each other. What he's just done to his own WIFE say volumes about his mental state going into the incident on Monday and immediately following. Don't you think it's eerie that JR would say "I think something is troubling Steve. He has demons to deal with" and then we find out he's beating his wife. We all know Austin's one passion is wrestling, so why would he walk out on his one passion? All we know is what we hear, but from what I hear, it seems like Steve Austin is a paranoid, violent, insecure man who sees his dream falling apart all around him. To separate his actions on Monday from his beating his wife is short-sighted. Every action we as human beings make speaks to our values and our emotional state. Steve Austin is a troubled man who needs someone's help, not a bunch of marks and "Yes men" telling him the things he does are good or productive.
What a bunch of bullshit. I can't believe you people are swallowing this tripe... and now have some free delicious tripe. YAY! {/bad Simpsons joke}
If this is actually happened the only possibility is that Debra made this up because she is jumping ship now that Austin can't get her on T.V. ala Lawler/Kat. She did it to Mongo and Jarrett so why not Austin? Plus if she can get a court to believe he hit her she can really make some bank on a divorce.
Bubbles? Oh come on Sharon! I’m Ozzy Osbourne the Prince of Fucking Darkness. Evil, evil, more fucking evil not a boatload of fucking bubbles man.

So to turn it around...
The reports say that this wasn't the first time. I wonder if this goes back years, or just this year?
If it's just this year, could job stress have helped him on his way to going mental?
If the abuse thing has happened for years, he certainly hasn't been walking out for years so it's a separate issue.
And if he is just that mental lately, maybe it's a DAMN good thing he's not in a wrestling ring right now anyway.

If the police report did really detail bruises on several places, that doesn't sound made up... I'm still REALLY hoping for some rational, Austin-vindicating revelation... but... I'm not too optimistic on that.
Really, there's no excuse for a man that size to whomp on a woman that size... I know what it's like to be physically beaten by a woman... but... Austin and Debra? Not exactly the same size like me and this girl were, heh...

It's a good point, but there's still a line there. But I have never been comfortable with angles that involve women getting struck. Even when Steph got the pedigree. Because you're just providing fodder for millions of wanna-be Stone Colds that are pounding back beers and are ready to slap the shit out of their women at the first sign of insolence. Domestic violence is very real and very scary and it's disturbing when 250 lb. men smack a woman and the crowd goes nuts. Austin deserves whatever he gets.

Don't Trust Anybody. I have a very worried feeling about all of this not being true. Metlzer has f-ed up in the past and until I see Austin driving a white ford bronco to his mom's house while being cashed by Texas's finest (scuff), I'll keep my options open.
I think it very much has to be something different to get people to invest an additional hour (or 45 minutes!) of their life in WWE programming, and it felt very much like just one more WWE show with slightly smaller guys.
