Jeff Garcia has been signed by Philly to backup McNair Click Here (sports.espn.go.com)

It's surprising to me, because I just figured they would bring back ole reliable AJ Feeley.

I'm guessing McNabb is more hurt than they are letting on.

It takes the pressure off of Vick who isn't ready, and sooner or later we will probably see them come to grips with the fact that Kolb wasn't a very good pick.

Feeley is actually signing with Carolina to back of Delhomme.

I agree your thinking on Kolb. I think this also shows that their plans for Vick are purely Wildcat, rather than to be McNabb's backup with the occasional trick play.

Boo. I was hoping Carr would get another shot.

He's Eli's backup in New York. Weinke's probably available, though. :)

Speaking of Giants backup QB's, Jared Lorenzen isn't that busy, is he? (crosses fingers)

I'm pleased by this signing, as its basically 2006 all over again. I wonder if any other team has a platoon of quarterbacks with anything even remotely comparable to the combined resumes of McNabb, Garcia, and Vick. My only concern is that this indicates that McNabb's injury absence could be a lengthy one. He won't just be missing one or two games with this signing. I suppose that's for the best, but that's still disconcerting.

I like the signing, and I don't think it really says anything about their intentions for Vick or Kolb, or how bad McNabb's injury is.

There's one QB on the roster with all his ribs intact available for next week. If McNabb can't go we have Desean Jackson as backup QB. In short, we needed to sign SOMEONE as insurance, so why not get a former Pro-Bowler who knows the system?

Curious to see who gets released to make room for him. I'm hoping Reggie Brown! (Rumour has it they're trying to trade Mr Kendra Wilkinson instead though, so boo to that).

I guess we should have started a pool, so I could have said "who had two weeks in the pool?"

I was just thinking that maybe Miami would contact Philly for his services with Pennington done for the year (at least), but I see where they traded with the Chiefs for Tyler Thigpen instead. http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d812feff9&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true

Yeah. That would have been a glimmer of hope in an otherwise demoralizing season - only solace is that they are not a *bad* 0-3 team. But it's still 0-3 and not looking good

Not that I have any interest in seeing him start, but I wouldn't mind seeing the Bears give Garcia a call to back up Cutler, as right now we are one freak injury away from Caleb Hanie as our starter.

The Bengals pulled the same stunt in '05 when the Packers came to town to limit the green-and-gold in the stands. Still ended up with plenty of cheeseheads in the stands.
