IT's a blanket with sleeves...very cool! THey showed it on THE BIG BANG THEORY once.

I don't watch The Big Bang Theory regularly, so I could be risking missing a joke in here, but surely you must have heard of the Snuggie beyond a mention on a single sitcom...

Actually, no. I'd never seen one advertised before. It wasn't actually called a Snuggie though.

Wow, that's interesting. I might consider myself lucky if I were you, though. Beyond the endless barrage of Snuggie commercials I've seen for the past several months, last spring it felt like Jay Leno and Jimmy Fallon mentioned Snuggies at least every other night on their respective shows, including Fallon doing an extended bit where every single audience member was given and wore a Snuggie. I feel like I've seen them mentioned on the Daily Show and Colbert Report too, but I could be mistaken. Maybe I just watch too many talk shows?
And I agree with Lise. The first thing that crossed my mind when I saw a Snuggie was that I could do the same thing by wearing my big bathrobe backwards. Actually, that was the second thing. The first thing I thought was, "If I get this thing as a present from somebody they're off my Christmas list!"
EDIT: Good call on the Canadian/American thing. That thought crossed my mind too.

Cable tv, most likely. I tried to retrace my steps to figure it out (I was helped by Wiki (en.wikipedia.org)), which reminded me of Jon Stewart wearing one early on. Real Time with Bill Maher has also been obsessed with the idea, especially in combination with the Sham-Wow (forming a Snug-Wow). But yeah, I've seen the ad on cable enough times to have already gotten the joke before people started overtly making the joke. (I'm not sure if I've seen Canadian ads for it.)
It is the policy of the documentary crew to remain true observers and not interfere with its subjects.

I haven't. Not sure I've ever seen an ad for one, actually, but I still knew what a Snuggie was because I've seen people making fun of them. I didn't realize the Slanket was a real product, though - like Frosty, I assumed it was a Snuggie by another name that was being made fun of on 30 Rock (what with Liz filling it with her farts while working on her night cheese).
For those of you who care--
In Promotion Wars, my WWA building has gone well, despite the fact that the WWF is now very close to pulling 7s in the ratings. Two weeks ago, WWA Monday Nitro set a program record with a 1.77 rating (compared with RAW's 6....
