BOSTON -- Tedy Bruschi is retiring after a 13-year career marked by an inspiring return to the New England Patriots as a starting linebacker eight months after a stroke.
A person familiar with his decision told The Associated Press that the 36-year-old Bruschi will announce his retirement at a news conference at 10:45 a.m. ET on Monday morning at Gillette Stadium. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because no announcement had been made. The team declined to comment Sunday night.
Bruschi gets all the props in the world for managing to come back and play at a high level after that stroke. He gets all the respect in the world and while he may not necessarily be HOF-bound, he'll be a beloved Patriot forever.

I think Brett Favre has set the bar as to what a "stomach punch retirement" is. I'm glad Tedy saw the writing on the wall (Chris Cooley put it there as he blew by #54 Friday night) and decided to bow out, even though Belichick told him he was in no danger of being cut.

I wonder how long it will take before T.O. throws a bitch fit in Philly ... I am not a Ravens fan at all, but I long for the day Owens has to play in Baltimore ...
