* The King of Fighters XII

* G-Force, this week for sure.

G-Force is also due out in Europe for the PSP. Nothing else in Europe, nothing at all in the US.

I haven't picked up KoF yet since I'm moving this coming weekend and won't get a chance to play it until after then, but from everything I've read, go with BlazBlue. KoF's sort of a reboot of the series, going to a new graphics and gameplay engine, so this is sort of a bare-bones edition - lower character roster than usual, no special endings, no bosses, almost like a beta. BlazBlue's from the guys that made Guilty Gear, and while it only has 12 characters itself, I've been pretty much playing exclusively that for the last 2 weeks - very deep gameplay, excellent character design, and a branching story mode and some other extras that provide a lot of value. If you can still find the Limited Edition, it's for the same price, and comes with three additional discs - a two disc soundtrack (which is pretty great), and a DVD with all sorts of extra videos, videos of moves, videos of strategies, a tutorial for the game, all sorts of excellent stuff. KoF had been anticipated by 2D fighting fans for a while, but BlazBlue completely stole its thunder.

Hey Cubs, remember when there was that hoax about the new Fire Pro games coming out? There was supposed to be a downloadable one for PS3, so you posted a link to a YouTube video showing how to set up a Japanese PlayStation store account. Just did it, and now I am 14 minutes away from playing the demo for Katamari Forever (or Katamari Damacy Tribute as it's called in Japan). Hooray!

I was completely burnt out after GGXX Sharp Reload Accent Core or whatever the hell and I was ready to pass it over for KOFXII but yeah, I'm frankly enjoying the hell out of Blazblue. It's deep, but simultaneously easy to pick up and play, the characters are fun (and, occasionally, hilarious) the music rocks and oh yeah . . .that's some lovely 2D animation in HD there, yes.

Still looking forward to KOFXII but I'm fully aware this is more the beginning of them rebuilding the cast for future HD KOFs (I mean, they built up a hell of a lot of reused sprites up to now) I'm expecting it to be good, but Blazblue or SF4 have really raised the bar for fighters this year.

I'd say I have to agree with all of this. There really aren't any out there that play like an MMA fight. The latest Firepro game is the closest approximation as far as I can tell.
