TONIGHT: “No Commercials....No Mercy!” OK, maybe just the no commercials part, but there will be none as part of this historic Raw, the first in Donald Trump’s charge. He’ll be in Green Bay for the event....will he name a general manager? Fans will also get a refund for their Raw ticket, according to the press conference earlier tonight. As we learned last week, Randy Orton will face Triple H in yet another Last Man Standing match. Plus, Vince McMahon’s Farewell Address is on the docket. Oh, and apparently there’s a PPV on Sunday.

-WWE Open.

-Clips aired of Randy Orton winning the WWE Title last week, as well as Mr. McMahon selling the Raw brand to Donald Trump and the show-ending Battle Royal.

-Raw Open, with Donald Trump spliced into the beginning. Apparently, it’s Trump Raw according to the opening and the image on the Titan Tron.

-Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler intro’d the show and plugged the Last Man Standing Match for the WWE Championship.

-Lilian Garcia brought out Donald Trump, whose name got quite a few cheers from the crowd. Kelly Kelly came out on his arm, then left with Trump on the stage. A live promo from Trump could be bad news here. He welcomed fans to Monday Night Raw and reminded them that it’s their show, not his. He said tonight’s show, for viewers at home, would be commercial-free. He told fans in the arena that in addition to World Championship matches, better than Vince would’ve given them, he said that after the show is over, he was giving fans a full refund of whatever they paid. Fans loved this. He told them only Trump would do that, and told him to enjoy the show. Well, he did OK there and he got more cheers from more fans than he probably ever has.

-After Trump left the stage, John Cena came out in Green Bay green and yellow instead of his blue and orange shirt and hat. Cena thanked Trump for making tonight’s festivities possible. Apparently, Trump put Cena in a match with Big Show as well. NOOOOO!!!!! He said Trump is making a statement, like so many others try to do. Then he showed a compilation of Miz making fun of him in the past. Fans seemed behind Cena. He said he wanted to find out what Miz had to say this week, so he called the Chick Magnet out. Miz came out to the ramp with a mic.

Miz said he has said everything and anything to him and Cena has done nothing because he’s a coward. Even the mics say Trump Raw. Cena insinuated that Miz is the coward tonight, because he’s in the ring and Miz is on the ramp. Miz then walked to the ring to meet Cena. “You suck” chants for Mizanin. He got right in Cena’s face and called him a coward. Cena told Miz, because he came down, he’d give Miz what he wants. Cena said Miz wants to be awesome, so he’s got his chance. The good news is, The Miz will main event The Bash against Cena. Cool. The bad news......The Miz has a main event PPV match against Cena. Oh, I get it. He got serious near the end of that one and got right in Miz’s face. He said he put his life on the line at Hammerstein Ballroom, got booed out of the Hall-of-Fame and had 85,000 people tell him that he can’t wrestle at the Grandest Stage of them All, and he never got rattled through any of it. Small pocket of “you can’t wrestle” chants. He said in six days, Miz would find out that his “real world” has been cancelled. He talked about what he’d do to Miz and said he’d find out he wasn’t a reality-show has-been....he’s a WWE never-was. Cena told him this is the part of the show that Miz weasels back to the locker room and prays he makes it out of the PPV in one piece.

Miz seemed dejected and slowly turned, but then threw the mic in Cena’s face and punched him in the face, then ran out of the ring and backstage. Cena celebrated in the ring, to the fans’ adulation.

-They showed what happened earlier today, when Mr. McMahon’s limo got stuck on a road with something wrong with it. The driver was checking the engine and Vince was raging on the phone. He said Trump had his limo and he got the back-up. The limo driver suggested a stop at a gas station and Vince angrily said he’s never been to a gas station in his life. The driver, for plan B, suggested they walk to the arena. It wasn’t that far off, but Vince said it was a long ways away and that he doesn’t walk to arenas. McMahon puffed out his chest and got in the guy’s face and told him they will walk. Well, the driver will walk. Vince got on the guy’s back and demanded he walk with him on his back to the arena. After a few steps, the guy collapsed and Vince kicked him in the butt. He told the driver to call his boss and get a new limo because he’s not walking to the arena.

-Ringside, Todd Grisham and JR were at the table with a bucket of KFC Grilled Chicken that looked pretty good. They plugged Vince’s Farewell Address later tonight (and Grisham mistakenly said Trump sold Raw last week).

(1) Jeff Hardy & The Great Khali & Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho & Dolph Ziggler & Edge

I’m wondering why they didn’t plug Smackdown on the show earlier, or address how Trump got these guys from Smackdown to wrestle on his show. Before the match started, CM Punk came out with his title belt on (soon taken off though) and camo shorts. Those look weird on him for some reason. He went to the commentator’s table. JR should’ve asked him to have some chicken, with Punk telling him he’s a vegetarian. JR asks him what he puts BBQ sauce on and Punk says he doesn’t eat that stuff. Then JR tells him to fuck off.

Khali cleaned house of all three heels, then Jeff somersaulted over the top and onto all of them. Rey climbed up on Khali’s shoulders and leapt off onto the heels. Khali went to the top (OMG), but Jericho attacked him from behind. Another countdown clock....23:00 til the LMS match. I would think they wouldn’t need to do that on a commercial-free show. Rey enziguiri’d Jericho, who took a few steps and fell into the ropes. Rey got stopped by Edge and Jericho attacked. Hardy got the hot tag and hit his pet moves on Ziggler. Edge speared Hardy but Khali got him up for the Punjabi Plunge. Jericho hit Khali with a Codebreaker (I think) and Edge speared him. 619 set up for Edge and Jericho, but only Jericho moved. Springboard moonsault onto Jericho at ringside. Ziggler tried his finisher on Hardy, but Hardy hit the Twist of Fate, then the Swanton for the win.

WINNERS: Hardy, Khali & Mysterio at 5:10.

Punk came into the ring and instead of handing him a piece of chicken in peace, Punk raised his hand. When Hardy realized who was doing it, he pulled his arm away and left the ring.

-Mr. McMahon was backstage and tried to get into Trump’s office. He called for security to unlock the door, but Santina walked up. She said she was glad to finally meet him. He slapped his hand away and he vented to Santina about getting stuck on the road and getting locked out of the office. Santina suggested they share an office.....Mr. McMahon and Donald, and call it McDonalds. He went back to knocking on the door, and finally Trump answered. McMahon said it’s his office and there must be some mistake. Trump said he bought Raw, so he got the office. He told Vince where his office was as Donald kept looking at the camera. Santina introduced herself to Donald. He said he’d do the same thing to Santina that he did to Miss California: Then he said “you’re fired.” She walked off camera, and from the other direction, Santino Marella walked up and called after his sister. He said there must be something he can do to help her. Then he decided that she had a good run and seemed content to leave it at that.

-They showed clips of the Packers H.O.F and told fans to stay tuned after Raw for a sneak pee of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

(2) Primo vs. Cody Rhodes

The Colons did some mic work prior to the match. They talked about Legacy and how Rhodes and DiBiase are pretty much go-fers for Orton. Just under 13 minutes to go until the Last Man Standing match. Cody worked the arm, then hit a bulldog on Primo. Cody slammed Primo’s head against the turnbuckle. Cody tossed Primo out of the ring, where Colon was going to skin the cat, but Rhodes ran into him causing him to lose his grip and fall to the floor. Back in the ring, a cover got two. Lawler acknowledged how these two have been in Orton’s shadow for quite some time. Primo came back with some high energy offense, but the crowd wasn’t behind him much. Jackknife cover got two on Cody. Primo put his head down and Cody got a loud kick in, followed by a Russian leg sweep. Cross-body by Primo, but Rhodes rolled through and picked up the victory.

Winner: Rhodes, at 3:53. So much for the time that was used for breaks going for longer matches.

-In the locker room, Vince was apparently searching for his office. He came upon Hornswoggle and Goldust, who reminded Vince that he thought Horny was his son for quite some time. He told Vince he’s thinking of giving his wig to Hornswoggle because it worked so well for Goldberg when he did it. He put the wig on Vince to see how it’d look, but Vince soon took it off and threw it down. Vince finally found his office.....a bathroom stall with his name on it. He mumbled something about a shred of dignity. The toilet flushed and Festus walked out of his “office” with the Wall Street Journal. He slapped it into Vince’s chest and walked away.

-Titletown Brewing Co. in Green Bay had “Welcome Mr. Trump” on their sign.

-Tonight, Orton faces Triple H in a Last Man Standing Match. They showed clips of their feud, dating back to Backlash two months ago.

(3) Triple H vs. Randy Orton- Last Man Standing Match for the WWE Championship

The two traded right hands to start, as you’d expect. Orton got sent shoulder-first into the ringpost and collapsed to ringside. Spinebuster on Orton, but a Pedigree was reversed and Trips did that stupid-ass corner sell where he jumps over the top rope before he even gets to the turnbuckle. He favored his left leg on the outside but still managed to clothesline Orton. Trips suplexed Orton onto the barricade and Orton fell to the concrete on the other side. Referee began to count for the first time, but Trips went on the attack and they brawled through the crowd. Orton brought HHH back over the railing and Trips again held his leg. Orton dive-bombed it, Ric Flair-style. Orton took the stairs and walloped Triple H in the head with them. More work on the left leg by Randy, even back in the ring.

The Game got a brief bit of offense, but Orton slid out of the ring and rammed his leg against the post. Orton got that glazed-over look in his eyes and he grabbed a steel chair from ringside. He got it kicked in his face as Cole made reference to The Game rallying here. It’d be sweet if Ricky Ortiz came down to hand Triple H one of his Rally Towels. Triple H procured himself from between the ring post but got whacked in the head with a steel chair. Ref got up to eight before Trips made it to his feet. Orton de-monitored the announce table and put Triple H on it. Orton himself stood on the table as well and looked to RKO the challenger. But Trips low-blowed Orton and both men were to their knees on the table. Triple H set up for a Pedigree, but Orton came back with an RKO on the table, which didn’t break. Hunter made it up at nine. Back-body drop by Hunter and both men again got to their feet at eight.

Triple H socked Orton with the monitor from the announce table. Orton got to his feet quite quickly here. The fought up the ramp, using the guardrail as a weapon. It’s legal as a wrist-lock here, folks. After another segment where they were both down, Triple H set up for the Pedigree, but Orton back-dropped out of it. They were both moving at a snail’s pace by this point, about 13:00 into the match. Triple H got up at nine, only by sliding off the ramp and to his feet on the side. The men traded fists on their knees. Crowd chanted for Triple H but Orton set up the RKO. Trips pushed him away and over a barricade into the equipment area of WWE. Please, no special effects here. Trips retrieved a ladder, but Orton ducked and HHH wiped out a crew member with it. Referee (name withheld) called for a trainer. It looks like he got his hands up, but still looks like he took it in the face. The ladder, that is. Orton callously pushed the crew member out of the way to get the ladder back. Orton took out the leg of Trips with the ladder.

Orton closed the ladder on The Game’s leg and stomped on it near the 18:00 mark. Orton told the ref to stop the count, then set up the ladder on the top of the ramp. Orton climbed the ladder with Triple H in RKO position. He jumped but Trips held onto the ladder and countered by shoving the ladder into Orton’s face. An ugly-looking Pedigree on the ramp put Orton down. But The Game was down as well, holding the knee. Triple H desperately tried to use the ladder to help him answer the ten-count, but he ended up collapsing on it. Both men were down for ten.

Winner: Orton, at 20:05. Really solid match, and I liked the ending as long as it’s not done too often (which it hasn’t really been). The ending with HHH almost getting up was solid too.

Trainers and refs tended to Triple H and Orton after the match. The frustrated Game kicked Orton as he walked away.

-CM Punk vs. Jeff Hardy was previewed in video form.

-Maryse was backstage getting ready for a match it appeared when Miz came up to her. He said she was just playing hard to get, but it doesn’t work with him. She told him not to waste her time, unless she does something impressive to John Cena. Miz said he’d prove in six days that he owns Cena. He was going to do his “I’m Awesome” schtick but Maryse stopped him and told him to do something impressive.

-Cole talked about a “Rage in the Cage” steel cage match with Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio against Edge and Chris Jericho.

-The Donald came back out, with Maria and Eve on his arm. Before he got to the ring, they showed all the press at the GB airport earlier today for the press conference with Trump and McMahon. Trump asked if everyone was having a good time and they all cheered. Trump again talked about the fans getting their money back and reiterated the no commercial policy. Yeah, I know, I’m watching it. Let’s get to something new. Trump talked about the new general manager that Vince wanted to appoint, then said he’s not going to appoint one. Instead, he’s going to have a celebrity host every week. He said it could be an actor, actress, or a WWE Champion. He said he doesn’t believe in general managers. Neither do I, but I don’t think this policy is much better. Trump said he’d be working for the fans and they’ll be getting lots of freebies from him. He talked about Wrestlemania 26 and how it’s going to be fantastic, but Vince McMahon’s music interrupted and the former Raw owner came out. He mouthed “what are you doing?” and then strutted to the ring.

McMahon grabbed the mic and said he’s had enough. He said a deal is a deal, but this commercial-free stuff isn’t working because he loses a lot of money on it (how? He doesn’t own Raw any more). He said he’s heard that Trump wants to do that every week. Then he said the fans in Green Bay don’t deserve their money back (boos). Vince said the rumors are that he wants the fans to come for free. Vince said if Trump did that, he’d be bankrupt in six months time. Trump said this is peanuts and he paid a big price for Raw so he can do whatever the hell he wants. McMahon said it wasn’t fair. Trump said a lot of his billionaire friends want to buy Raw from him and he could double his investment any time.

McMahon seemed to have a revelation and said that Trump played him. He said Trump was trying to drive him into bankruptcy. Vince admitted Trump was smarter than him and he’s got him in a bind. McMahon said he wants to buy Raw back for the same amount Trump paid him. Boos from the fans again. Vince said that was fair and the fans booed again. Trump said he had no interest whatsoever. McMahon then said Trump should have a return on his investment, saying he’d like to buy it back for the price he sold it plus 25%. Trump didn’t bite again. McMahon then said, how about 50% more than he paid. Fans booed again. Trump said it’s good for some people but not for him. He got up to 75% and Trump still balked at it. They sounded like a Price is Right crowd, shouting numbers at Vince. McMahon then said he’d give Trump double his money back. Trump asked the fans, they booed and Vince told’em to shut up. Trump shook his hand and said he’s got a deal. McMahon said that if Trump ever crosses his path again, anywhere, if he ever sees the Trump logo anywhere around him, he’d knock Trump on his billionaire butt. McMahon then yelled “You’re Fired!!!” at Trump. The Donald got in his face as, oh my God, the fans chanted “Donald Trump.” He slapped Vince in the face as some well-dressed men, including Johnny Ace, came to the ring to separate the two billionaires. Well, it was a shorter reign for Trump than I expected, but I thought that segment was good, thanks in part to Trump and the fans’ reactions.

-A shot outside Lambeau Field of the Vince Lombardi statute, then another plug for the Transformers sneak peek.

-Cole said he was working up an appetite and Lawler said he’d sell the Kentucky Grilled Chicken to Cole for twice what he paid. Then he transitioned into plugging Big Show vs. John Cena. They narrated clips of the feud to this point.

-Backstage, trainers were tending to Orton. Vince yelled at Rhodes and DiBiase, telling them to leave the arena right now. McMahon told Orton that he just bought back Raw and if Orton thinks he’s in pain right now, wait ‘til the Bash on Sunday. Orton said he can’t even stand, let alone fight and if Vince has any decency.....but Vince said he’d face Triple H at The Bash in a two-out-of-three falls match. First fall: straight wrestling match. Second fall: falls-count-anywhere match. Third fall: Stretcher match. He called it the Three Stages of Hell. Haven’t seen that in a while.

-A plug for WWE Superstars and the main event, Kofi Kingston defending his US Title in a Triple Threat match against MVP and Matt Hardy.

(4) Mickie James & The Bella Twins vs. Beth Phoenix & Rosa Mendes & Maryse

Mickie started things off, but was often looking at Maryse. I can’t blame her for that. She hit Rosa with a forearm to the face, then Beth tagged in. Cole said the Three Stages of Hell match hasn’t been held in 6 ½ years. Beth powered Mickie down to the mat, but Mickie was quickly back up. She tagged in a Bella, but she ran right into Beth. Rosa tagged in and got sent down with a head-scissors take-down. Monkey flip out of the corner on Rosa, but Beth took her out when the ref was distracted. Maryse tagged in and landed a back-breaker on the Bella. They continued working over the Bella twin in the corner and Rosa came back into the match. Finally, Mickie James tagged back in and Rosa bumped around for her. She knocked Beth off the apron, but Maryse jumped down before James could get her. Beth broke up a pin, but was double dropkicked by the Bellas. Maryse nailed Mickie in the head, but Mickie superkicked Rosa right in the chops and got the pin.

Winners: The Bellas and Mickie, at 5:06. Longer than usual Divas match, but nothing really special.

-Cole said USA was so impressed with the commerical-free Raw that they’re going to show National Treasure commercial-free tomorrow night.

-A video aired on Alfonso Soriano doing the “You can’t see me” bit to the fans in the outfield during Cubs games and also after home runs. They showed Cena doing commentary during the Cubs game as well.

-Cole and King were in the ring. They plugged Show vs. Cena, then previewed The Bash.

(5) The Big Show vs. John Cena

The two met face-to-face when the bell rang and Cena hammered away on Show, dumping him to ringside with a shoulderblock. Cena picked him up out there though and dropped him throat-first across the barricade. In the ring, Cena got speared by Show. Show went on his slow offense at this point, but Cena ducked a chop. He attempted to fight back, but Show picked him up for a powerbomb and sent him over his head, face-first into the mat. Cena nearly got counted out. He came into the ring firing, but Show knocked him down when Cena tried another shoulder tackle. Side head-lock by Cena, with added pressure, but Show suplexed out of it. Show set Cena up in the corner and splashed him back-first. Cena dodged another splash but again was taken down as he seemed to be picking up momentum. Show did the standing leg-drop and got a two-count. Show again stood on Cena. Cena got his feet up on a corner charge and he hit a top-rope leg-drop on the back of Show’s head, even though it looked like he whiffed. That move needs to go. Out of nowhere, Show hit the chokeslam but Cena kicked out. Show stepped on him, then hit his middle-rope splash. Show was going for a back-breaker of some sort, but Cena locked in the STF in the middle of the ring. WTF? The Miz came down and Cena knocked him off the apron. Cena got Show up for the STF but Miz, back on the apron, pushed the two forward- the ref’s view was obstructed by Show on Cena’s shoulders. Show landed right on Cena and pinned him.

Winner: Show, at 10:25.

Miz got in the ring after the match and trash talked the out cold Cena. He stood over Cena, looking cocky and confident as usual.

-Randy Orton was leaving the arena when he was attacked from behind by Triple H. Trips slammed the trunk onto Orton’s back. He whispered in Orton’s ear that it’s not over by a long shot and this Sunday, Orton is going to hell.

This show started off promising, was good for a while, with HHH/Orton being possibly their best match yet... then everything went downhill, culminating with a terrible Big Show/Cena borefest. And what point did the Trump thing even serve? What a bizarre reboot.

Surprised they didn't use the political situation in Iran as an opportunity to give the Iron Sheik a live mic for 5 minutes to talk about the situation. Lord, please let some cable network be stupid enough to let Sheik talk about Iran. Please.
The only way that the Trump thing would bankrupt Vince would be if RAW was going to be free, why would anyone pay for tickets to SD, and if RAW PPV's (by extension) would be free, why would anyone pay for SD PPV's. Other than that, which I don't think they were going for, it made no sense.
Did the guy who took the ladder shot blade?
Stretcher match does not really make you think of hell. Make the 3rd stage the old Dusty vs. Tully Barbed Wire Ladder Match.
At least Santina is done with.
The concept of putting the title match in the middle of the program is intriguing. It allows for the ending to come out of nowhere or for the match to go long without people looking at their watches and knowing the ending is either moments away or a while away.

I'm wondering if this was meant as a one week ratings spike, or if everyone got cold feet after the less than stellar reaction to the 'news' of Trump buying Raw. It seems like a lot of trouble to go through just to announce a commercial less Raw with a few big matches. Linda McMahon would have served the same purpose.

Okay, when are they going to announce that MVP failed the drug test, after Thursday Superstars on WGN? No way someone gets a push like this suddenly without that happening. MVP has nowhere to be seen tonight.

I thought the Big Show/Cena match was pretty good again, they do have good chemistry but it's worn out. The question is, what do they do with the Big Show now?

I wonder how much KFC had to pay to sponsor this thing today? By the way, their grilled chicken taste terrible and is dry.

Orton/HHH was good with the expected result of a no-winner. However, this is getting old with these two also.

I wonder if Santina gets her job back now that Vince is back in control?

What RAW PPVs? Also good point on the title match being in the middle of the show, I never considered it like that.

So much to talk about. Random order from what I remember:

I actually thought it was an entertaining show until the end when Cena and Show slammed on the brakes.

I can't believe how much imaginary money Vince McMahon lost tonight! His imaginary bank account must be tapped dry. Vince never wins his imaginary feuds with billionaires. I wonder what Trump's crazy plan for WrestleMania 26 was that Vince interrupted by coming out? I will wonder until the day I die.

Trump's first match presented as owner of RAW was a Smackdown match. Trump did not invite ECW, despite his former representative Bobby Lindsey being the ECW Champion when he shaved Vince's head at WrestleMania 23.

The Kentucky Grilled Chicken at the announce desk was hilarious. Best product placement food at the announce desk since that bottle of Surge co-hosted Nitro with Tony Schiavone. Even upstaged that delicious Subway sandwich.

Right off the bat, Grisham screws up and asks did anyone ever think "Donald Trump would sell RAW." JR caught it immediately and corrected him that no one would have ever suspected "Mr. McMahon would sell RAW." That's why JR is the best and Grisham is a Muppet with a headset.

I did a spit take when Lawler said that the fans might be even happier to see Triple H win the WWE Title from Orton than to get their money back. Lawler's KGC must be laced with PCP.

It annoys me that Triple H and Orton had a better match tonight than they did when it mattered most, at WrestleMania 25. I also hated Hunter getting his heat back with the parking lot attack on Orton. Where was Legacy?

I loved Punk sneaking into the ring behind Hardy, feigning hitting him with the belt, and then raising his arm for the babyface pop. Punk's heel turn slow burn is terrific.

And thank God/Vince/Trump that my greatest dread wasn't realized and Smackdown's roster was not pillaged for RAW's benefit. I was afraid someone like Edge would hired by Trump or something. I love Smackdown just the way it is.

After months and months of the Divas having tag team matches that last two minutes with most of the girls not even getting to wrestle, the RAW Divas got to have a real tag team match. To dead silence from the crowd. RAW Creative has to reeducate the RAW audience to accept Divas matches again. Unfortunately, the lack of reaction might just put the idea in their idiot heads that people don't want to see the Divas wrestle on RAW. They do. They just want to be given reasons to care. That's your JOB, Creative!

Interesting how Miz and Maryse get so many backstage skits together because they have something in common: The way they're being booked is killing them. Miz is not being presented as a threat to Cena. An annoyance, sure. Some guys are enjoying his verbal shots at Cena. But can he beat Cena? Are we to believe he has a chance? No, of course not. He has never been presented as someone who is a physical threat to the mighty John Cena.

Similarly, besides her hotness and hair flipping, the unspoken secret to how Maryse got so far so fast wasn't that she was necessarily a great worker at this point in her career because she isn't -- but on when she was on Smackdown, she liked to fight. She beat up Maria. She took the fight to Michelle McCool and beat her. She beat Gail Kim clean. Why, at Survivor Series last year, she was the last member of team Smackdown and took the fight to Beth Phoenix (who was then a monster) and nearly beat her. Maryse was a fighter. RAW Creative has turned her into a coward. Is there any wonder why she doesn't get the reactions she should be getting?

Again, the booking of Miz and Maryse is harming them. They're not gonna draw money if this keeps up.

MVP? Never heard of him.

I think that's all I got. Fun RAW until Show and Cena.

The commercial free bit was intended as a ratings spike, so probably the Trump appearance was as well.

I thought I fast forwarded thru something that might have explained why Vince was going to lose money on Trump running his own show with commericals. Should've just known what I was watching. Surely we're going to see Trump down the line (probably for WM?), but for this whole bit to actually mean anything, shouldn't McMahon be somehow affected for having lost all that money to Trump? Not just in a Angry Vince way, but something financially to make it seem meaningful?

Presuming the world title match happening during the middle of the show was less to make the length a bit more mysterious (though it helped!) and more to give them an hour to set up the stips for the rematch. Couldn't have done it if it was last.

(I enjoyed the Punk/chicken lines!)

Oh, yea, please please Miz and Maryse win so they can be awesome together. For at least a short time, that's all I ask.

Okay I did not watch RAW because of the LSU kick @ss baseball game but I'm guessing the WWE were sick of the too many commercial complaints as well as the "That show sucked, and Rip off complaints" on the fan feedback page.

Bottomline, sounded like a good show. I'll have to go back and watch it on the old VHS recorder.

Who was it that said you were supposed to build your opponent so it's more important when you defeat them? Someone in the last six months or so went on a long soliloquy about that point.

Tonight's Cena segment was so far on the opposite end of the spectrum from that, I'm actually believing that The Miz will win Sunday. Seriously. They're making it out to be such an impossibility, that it'll be that much more important when he DOES somehow win -- by cheating, of course, but still a win. I still think this might be an attempt at recreating the Cena/Lesnar magic, back when Lesnar injured Cena while Cena was still pretty much a joke. Cena started making threats towards Lesnar, named his finisher the FU ... and the rest is history. I remember thinking what a joke it was that the WWE expected us to consider Cena a credible opponent for Lesnar the first time they faced off, and look how that feud turned out.

So, yeah. I think Miz takes it on Sunday. If not, though ... that was the dumbest promo ever. Pretty much means Cena beat someone who was nothing, which does nothing for him.

Actually a fairly entertaining edition comedy-wise, absent the logically-challenged Trump/Vince segment. Let me get this straight now.. Donald Trump paid an impossibly outrageous price to buy Raw off of McMahon - only he didn't get any revenue stream in the deal?

While it's probably not that far off of reality that Trump gets into some fairly hinky deals, this makes him look like quite the Bozo. Only to get topped by Vincent Kennedy "All about the MUN-NAY" McMahon, who promptly gets suckered into doubling The Donald's price. (Can't wait to hear from someone in the know whether this was the plan all along, or did they cancel some longer-term program?)

Questions for regular Raw viewers, if someone can help me out:

1) Did they play the Santina angle as "Santino's fraternal twin sister" all along?

2) Has Mickie been using a Superkick finisher regularly?

3) Punk is a vegan, too? (Man, that's hardcore.)

Rhetorical questions:

1) Did Jericho give Miz his Goldberg angle?

2) Is King going to Wrestler's Court for saying that Mickie's Superkick was the best he's seen?

3) Trips and Orton at the very end of the show - after the PPV, will Randy still respect Hunter in the morning?

Lesnar destroyed Cena in that match and won clean, so maybe not the best comparison. =p

But it did put Cena on the map as someone to watch, and not JUST a funny Vanilla Ice joke.

Especially when he then went on to try and do the same with Undertaker, pissing on the grave and such.

Vince ordered them to leave the building when he confronted Orton backstage after buying back Raw.

It looks like the SEC is getting involved in the fake sale of Raw and WWE's stock dropping on the report of the "sale."

World Wrestling Entertainment and General Electric, the owner of USA Networks, could face an investigation by the SEC into their publicity stunt last week that likely caused WWE shares to fall 7 percent on Tuesday, Fox Business Network reported on Friday. The plunge in WWE shock occurred after WWE announced that it had sold its RAW TV franchise to Donald Trump. The following day, however, both WWE and USA apologized and acknowledged that no sale had taken place -- that it was all just a gimmick to publicize a new "story arc" for the wrestling show. But Randy Katz, a securities lawyer with Baker & Hostetler, told FBN that an SEC probe "certainly is a possibility. ... The world today versus a couple of years ago has less tolerance for these types of issues. There's a greater likelihood today, than if this happened a few years ago."

I got the feeling after the Trump/Vince segment was done to get rid of a possible SEC violation. Of course, none of it made sense on how Vince would lose money if he doesn't own the show anymore. It was an interesting idea that could have been fun. As for the show, Miz has to win on Sunday or Cena is HHH from 2003. Burying people on the mic and then in the matches. I am rooting for Miz to win just to see where they can go wit that storyline. However, I expect Orton/Cena to main event SummerSlam again.

    1) Did they play the Santina angle as "Santino's fraternal twin sister" all along?

The bit was everyone thought Santino was just cross dressing as Santina and pretending to be his own sister. Except, the ending bit proved they were two different people after all.

    2) Has Mickie been using a Superkick finisher regularly?

Nah. She usually uses a DDT

    3) Punk is a vegan, too? (Man, that's hardcore.)

Yep.

FWIW, Meltzer said the plan had been for Trump to be owner for a lot longer, but plans changed for unclear reasons during the week.

Nice title match, even if it is possibly the most worn out rivalry I can think of.

Not a Cena fan (or his new John Deere look) but that was one of his better promos in some time. This angle is much like Cena/Brock now that you guys mention it, let's hope it works out the same for Miz. Or at least on a smaller scale. But Cena has already done his job this week, he ain't eating another pin at the PPV. Miz will have to settle for the Consolation Rub.

Sure it does.

They said Trump bought the RAW franchise, but it was still part of WWE who would presumably continue to collect a percentage of revenue from RAW. It wouldn't have been too unreasonable for Trump to ask for full control over ticket pricing and other commercial decisions, nor unreasonable for Vince to accept that thinking that Trump wouldn't do anything to negatively impact revenue from RAW. He might even have figured he could afford a drop of X% in RAW revenue's before it would be a problem for him.

As it turned out, Trump looked like he was going to treat it as a plaything to win himself some popularity rather than run it as a strict business enterprise that would be profitable in its own right. Vince sees what he thought would be a hassle free stream of cash threatened and decided to try and buy his business back.

That, or the franchise payments to WWE were going to be fixed rate and he was worried about what redsoxnation said (RAW being a cut-price/free alternative to Smackdown which would lose mucho money as a result).

Of course they never exactly spelt out how the whole franchise/parent company thing would work and how the money would be split, but the above wouldn't be out of the ordinary and doesn't contradict anything they said. Or at least anything I remember them saying, which admittedly might not be the same thing ;)

Well, if anything, trying to do this will show you how thin the roster really is, especially on the heel side. Here's what I got: (* denotes Team Captains) Pre-Show (NXT)
