I've gotta say, I really rooted against Peyton Manning early in his career, because in a former life I was a Gator fan and the dislike just seemed to carry over even after I'd been converted. Once Tony Dungy became his coach, I couldn't hate him anymore. I also thought he was overrated. But I was wrong. He's fucking amazing.

Anyway, this year, barring a miracle collapse by the Colts, Manning will pass on the career victories list, among other notables, Johnny Unitas. That will be a cool moment, him surpassing the last great Colts quarterback. Well, besides Jim Harbaugh.

Others he will pass are Joe Montana (with whom he is currently tied) and, most likely, Fran Tarkenton. He will also pass Tarkenton for third on the touchdowns list. He will probably move to fourth on the career passing yards list, passing Vinny Testaverde (!!), Tarkenton and Warren Moon.

I guess he could also get injured, but that seems unlikely considering he has never missed a start. I never realized that until just now. He has the longest ever consecutive start streak to begin a career.

EDIT: Also, Brett Favre, when you read this thread, I want you to know that every season you retire then come back increase tenfold my desire to see Manning break every single one of your records except the interceptions record. Oh, or the record for throwing six interceptions in a playoff game.

One stat that pops out on that list is Peyton's .665 winning percentage. Among the top 10 in wins, Peyton's percentage is second only to Terry Bradshaw (.667).

No offense to Bob Sanders, Dwight Freeney and the like... but they are not Joe Greene, Jack Lambert and company.

Does Warren Moon's passing yards include his CFL yards?

(I'm guessing no.)

Miracle that Warren is this high on the list considering that he had to prove himself in Canada just to get a CFL job and his receivers in KC dipped thier hands in butter before each play.

I remember watching Warren spend a first qusrter where every incompletion was a drop and him just shrugging and after that he spent the rest of the game hitting guys in the gut forcing them to catch the ball. On a few plays, the opposing team (SF?) disn't even have to tackle because Warren was blasting his own guys to the ground with his passes.
