No matter how bad his movies with Burt Reynolds generally were, it was worth it just to see the bloopers during the credits. They showed him being funny a big teddy bear. To understate the obvious he will be missed.

Nothing more needs to be said except to note his role as Nero in History of the World, Part I - genius. Plus, he was in Evil Roy Slade.

Will be missed

Cannonball Run is one of my all time favorites. It was one of the movies that was playing on hbo every other hour when we first got cable. Such a great talent.

On the plus side, C'mon - he lived to be 75. That's pretty good, considering his physique, right?

I was going to agree with you, but looking at the list of overweight actors in US cinema at wikipedia (of course they have an article like that on wikipedia), a surprising number of them lived pretty long.

Fatty Arbuckle died of a heart attack at 48, John Candy of a heart attack at 43, both Belushi and Farley were drug-related deaths.

But Ned Beatty is still alive at 71. Marlon Brando (who put on a lot of weight later in life) made it to 80. Raymond Burr made it to 76. Ernest Borgnine is still going at 92, but of course we know why in his case. Orson Welles made it to 70. Jesus, Brian Dennehy is 70.

This is interesting. I wonder if overweight people in the acting business do better than those in other careers for some reason.

I liked his movies, but he didn't seem a good fit as host of CANDID CAMERA.

I thought his bit in the original MUPPET MOVIE was really cool.

I love this town!

Another constant part of my younger days is gone. Cannonball Run was a major film when I was young. At least he got one more cannonball run with Burt in Robot Chicken.
