You reap what you sow.
So your explanation for regional sports arrogance is because the area has had one decade of success after decades of failure? The Red Sox winning two World Series in four years isn't the inverse of winning zero World Series in 86 years.

No. It's the crap we've got from other fans for the 86 years of the Red Sox failures.

The Bulls pull even with the Celtics at 2-2. Almost like last year's Hawks series all over again, only this time the Celtics' best player is watching instead of playing. Trouble in Beantown?
The Magic make it 2-2 with the Sixers after a big late-game shot by Hedo Turkoglu. Good to see there are at least some former Kings who are doing well.
The Rockets push the Blazers to the brink of elimination with a one-point lead. Can Yao finally make it past the first round?
Cavs sweep the Pistons, and will await the winner of the Hawks/Heat series. The Pistons, therefore, suffer the ignominy of being the only playoff team this year not to win a game. (Couldn't happen to a nicer team).

Suppose it could've been worse: They might have been so pathetic that they didn't even get into the playoffs in the Eastern Conference... like the Pacers.

Right there with ya'. Glad the Cavs closed them out early in Cleveland West, and I gotta believe they won't let rust set in while they wait for their opponent.
(On a side note, say what you will about the Pacers, but if they were in the same situation, I get the feeling they wouldn't have been calling Cavs season-ticket holders to entice them to come out to Conseco for a playoff game. Way to sell out what little home-court advantage you may have had, Pistons!)
Hell of a game between the Bulls/Celtics yesterday. Props to Chicago and Philly for making these series a lot of fun to watch!

Yeah, I'm not too happy to see the home team sell out like that, and many fans were spoiled to the point that they knew this was the end of a successful run and just wanted to get it over with. That, and I'm guessing the current economic situation in Michigan probably pushed away any fans who were wavering between going or not.
Still, the team's gotta make money where they can. And it's so nice to you're still spreading the vitriol where it wasn't even warranted. Go Nuggets! (or the 6 other teams that make it into the next round)

As much as I'd like to rip the Piston fans for not selling out the post-season game, they did bang out the building for 6 years straight until the team decided to play like dogs after the Iverson trade. Throw in the beyond crap economy in the region and why waste a Sunday afternoon going to an execution? And, the count is now at 3 post-season games in his career that Paul Pierce blew by missing a late free throw. Realizing that the Celtics have no chance of repeating with the current configuration, at least the games have been some of the most exciting in a few years. I can't get pissed at a team the year after winning a title.

BIG TIME. I missed the game. Can anyone who saw it please explain to me what the hell happened??
There really isn't much to explain. Nuggets jumped to a 36-15 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Seats were empty by the middle of the third and Peja Stojakovic looked like a shell of his former self. You would think the Hornets' scrubs would put in some effort against the Nuggets' scrubs in the fourth, but it never happened.

Pierce has won them a lot more games in the playoffs, including tonight's game, than he's lost.

I have faith in Pierce taking shots at the end of games. I just have no faith in him taking free throws at the end of games. And, I had plenty of faith in Tony Allen finding a way to screw up. Possibly best first round series in the NBA since the Pistons/Knicks series back in '84?
With the Spurs being bounced in the first round in five games by the Mavericks, this marks the first time since the 1999-2000 season that San Antonio has failed to advance to the second round of the playoffs. You talk about consistency.
It also marks the end of the Spurs' recent trend of winning a championship every two years. ('03, '05, '07, but not '09).

I was about to say that Joe Johnson has been mediocre this year, but apparently he was good enough to get TWO All-Star spots. Wow! Meanwhile, Josh Smith gets screwed yet again. Unbelievable. - StingArmy
