The Quick Results for TNA Lockdown:

Preshow: Eric Young over Danny Bonaduce via rollup in 4 minutes. Postmatch, Young turns his back on Bonaduce like a chump, so he attacks him with nunchucks. Rhino makes the save.

PPV: Suicide over Sheik Abdul Bashir, Jay Lethal, Consequences Creed and Kiyoshi when he X-scaped in 12 minutes. Interesting, but not quite the fast-paced spotfest I was expecting.

Queen of the Cage: ODB over Sojo Bolt, Madison Rayne, and Daffney when she powerslammed Bolt in 7 minutes. Forgettable.

IWGP Jr. Tag Titles: MCMG over No Limit and LAX when Sabin pinned Naito with the Made in Detroit in 12 minutes. A much better trainwreck, delivering what was expected.

Doomsday Chamber of Blood: Matt Morgan over Abyss via Stevie-ference in 13 minutes. Stevie attacks Abyss when he tries to use the tacks. The match was shafted by horrible commentary at the end.

Knockouts Title: Angelina Love over Taylor Wilde and Awesome Kong when she rolled up Wilde in 7 minutes. Inoffensive little match. Love was out of it when she hit her head on a crossbody from Wilde.

Tag Title Dominion: Team 3D over Beer Money via 3D through a table in 15 minutes. An okayish brawl, but what was the point of the cage if they wanted to go into the crowd? You can't eat the cake and have it too! With that said, Beer Money looked impressive on offense.

Lethal Lockdown: Team Jarrett over Team Angle when AJ pinned Booker after a Jarrett EL KABONG~ in 24 minutes. The swerve was a horrible way to end a match that vacillated wildly between excellent work and forgettable punchy-kicky.

- Bobby Lashley is in TNA! Huh! That's...interesting!

TNA Title: Mick Foley over Sting via Escape in 16 minutes. It was definitely slow. The out-of-nowhere finish wasn't exactly perfectly executed, since Foley was WAY ahead of Sting once the race began for the escape. The lack of a big Foley spot was surprising. I don't see how TNA World Champ Mick FOley pays off unless Hernandez cashes in soon.

--> I think you can summarize the entire PPV with "solid but unspectacular". There was nothing outstanding or horrible, though I'm looking forward to the next month of TNA programming, so they must be doing a decent job of telling an intriguing story. It'll be interesting to see just what Foley does with the title. Lets go with 5/10 for the PPV.

So Sting beats up-and-comers Styles and Joe, and finally loses the belt to Foley. THIS is why I'm disappointed in Mick. The guy who wrote Have A Nice Day, who accepted his physical limitations, who took pride in establishing younger, healthier stars at his own expense, has won a world title almost ten years after he first retired. He surely had the power to say "Nice gesture and all guys, but I'd rather Sting puts over Joe. Or Styles. Or Daniels."
And the match was sad to watch-he just can't go anymore.

Good show marred by an awful main event.

Eric Young pinned Danny Bonaduce with a small package. I missed the preshow and didn't see this. Apparently Bonaduce attacked Young with nunchuks afterwards until Rhino (!) made the save.

Suicide kept the X Title by escaping the cage. Kiyoshi was pinned first after a Lethal Elbow and a Lethal Consequences double pin; Creed was pinned by Bashir via WMDDT; Bashir stole the pin on Lethal after the Suicide Solution. At this point it became escape to win; Suicide was on top and Bashir was down, inside, and crawling for the door. Security was out and trying to keep Kiyoshi from interfering on Bashir's behalf, so Suicide leapt from the top of the cage onto the gang of security!

ODB won "Queen of the Cage," pinning Sojo Bolt with a powerslam. Daffney looked good.

Motor City Machine Guns kept the IWGP titles, pinning Naito (I think) with the Made in Detroit -- sort of a Doomsday Device / Sliced Bread. Match of the night, I think. Scariest spot was when Hernandez crackerjacked Sabin into the cage and Sabin came down head first.

Matt Morgan pinned Abyss with a chokeslam onto tacks. I don't know why the tacks help here; they don't increase the impact or anything. Anyway, Abyss got screwed by Dr. Stevie, who came out to keep Abyss from using any weapons. Mike Tenay was all "THAT'S STEVIE RICHARDS~!!!" and I had totally forgotten that we weren't supposed to know who Dr. Stevie was.

Angelina Love won the Knockout title by pinning Taylor Wilde after Wilde was kicked by Aw some Kong. Kong was mostly helpless after Love and Sky tied her hair to the cage (!). Wilde hit Love with a crossbody and Love landed wrong or something -- she was TOTALLY out of it -- a little scary, actually. Wilde had to help her "kick out" and then Wilde held a chinlock for a while to kill time. People were talking to the ref and stuff. Wilde got up and wandered over to Kong; Kong kicked her and Love draped over her for the pin.

Team 3D retained the IWGP titles and WON the TNA tag titles by 3D-ing Robert Roode through a table. Fun brawl; crowd was super into it.

Team Jarrett beat Team Angle. Jeff Jarrett hit Booker T with the guitar and Styles pinned him. They were teasing that Jarrett might hit Styles. They were concentrating so hard on this "OMG WILL JEFF TURN" storyline that they forgot to make the actual finish exciting. Good fun otherwise. Our dear Styles was on top of the cage at one point and leaped through the roof -- breaking through the mesh -- to land on top of the MEM in a painful looking spot.

After the match, BOBBY LASHLEY walked out and POINTED AT EVERYBODY. Kurt Angle laughed and Jarrett looked concerned. I'm not excited, BUT if they're planning to trade out Nash for Lashley it's probably a good thing.

Mick Foley became TNA champion by climbing out of the cage (a stip added by Foley just before the match). This was lousy. Slow. Boring. Sad. Best part was Foley trying to escape the cage by squirming through a camera hole. But, yeah. It's hard to imagine giving the belt to a guy who, evidence suggests, doesn't have anymore good matches in him.

That hadn't occurred to me -- that would be pretty cool -- but still, why give the title to Mick?

I agree with both points but I'm actually more for the second point. Foley could still use his position to put over Joe or Styles himself. I'm more upset about the Foley win because Foley just can't wrestle. Sting might not have made an impact in the ratings like TNA hoped but he's been a very good main eventer that has constantly put on good matches even at his age. Whatever title match comes next isn't going to be as good with Foley as it would be with Sting.

Regardless of whether Sting or Foley is the champion I actually think the way to go next is to have Angle win the title. Foley and Sting might have better, more historic careers but Angle is the most relevant current wrestler and can have the best match. Plus Angle is a heel and good at it. Styles, Joe, Daniels, Hernandez or whoever is going to win the title should win the title from Angle.

I agree that solid but unspectacular is a fair assessment, but there was definitely a period where they were on a roll. I really liked the MCMG match followed by Stevie's appearance followed by Love winning the title followed by 3D/Beer Money and then part of Jarrett vs. Angle. But the ending of Jarrett/Angle, followed by Lashley, followed by the main event was pretty deflating.

I guess Lashley for Nash is a good trade off if that is where they are going. But I'm afraid Lashley is either going to be on the Frontline and take time from AJ or Joe or he's going to get the monster big guy push that Hernandez should be getting.

Just a nitpick, but I would've liked to see Daniels get the pin in the Jarrett/Angle match.

One thing that bugged me that nobody mentioned was a promo that Jarrett cut where in defending his loyalty to TNA he asked "where have AJ and Daniels been the last 6 months??" Uhhh...well, AJ has been fighting for TNA the last 6 months. Where have you been? Daniels on the other hand was fired. Why didn't you bring him back sooner? I thought it was pretty dumb to call out two guys who didn't really do anything wrong and whose loyalty is not in question in any way.

I knew it was unlikely but I was disappointed the former World Champion making their debut wasn't Taz. Even as a color commentator Taz would've been a better addition than any free agent wrestler. Maybe it will still happen though.

Who was Joe talking to before he entered the ring?

I have zero problem with Foley winning for a couple of reasons. One, I am a giant Foley mark, so lets get that out of the way. Two, Sting has been on this am I heel or face crap since he joined MEM, now it forces his hand and should lead to him being a face to Foley's out of control wrestler/executive. Three, Foley knows how to work as a heel, Sting doesn't, so now he can have more clear cut matches against Joe, Jarret, Style and so on. Four, the win was not predicted by anyone after watching WWE's paint by numbers Wrestelmania, it is nice to have a match where i jumped out of my seat in surprise and joy something I have done with WWE in awhile. It shows TNA has a bit of an edge when comes to booking. Lastly, Foley is God.

I do love Sting and I don't mean to bash Sting, I do love the guy, but the whole am I a heel or face was played out a few months ago. I think last night was a good change up to TNA, you have new women's champ and tag team champions, so we will probably see some new feuds out of this. I never bought a TNA PPV til last night and I was happily surprised and can't wait for Impact. To me this was a hundred times better then Mania.

It's impossible not to laugh at Mick winning the belt, but him putting over his fellow chubster Joe in a world title match could ostensibly mean a good deal for him and would at least slightly change up the "I'm gonna lose clean to somebody, you're welcome!" Mick formula of the last five years. I say that and he'll lose the belt to Angle, natch, but for me it's TNA so who really cares anyway -- I say that not to tweak the Ws who are actually invested in the company, I just legit don't think it matters what they do month-by-month.

Really Samoa Joe is kind of a fat idiot who stabs people, he's not much of a line-crossing standard bearer at this point neither. They should have a SOFT-SPOKEN HARD HITTING championship challenge rematch from Vengeance 2007 with Foley, Lashley, and Booker.

medicore show.

some bad stuff (women, morgan/abyss) and some decent stuff (tag 3way).

From friends there, they spent much of the pre-show moving people onto the hard camera side to make it even close to being attended.

I thought they would reveal Taz to be the cameraman that handed Foley the bat.

Double turn in the main? FOley was certainly behaving heelish.

Apparently the weird bit with Joe before he came out was a tease for Taz coming in as his mentor, as indicated by Joe wearing a towel on his head and the Taz-style suplexes he was throwing. Is there anything wrong with just letting Joe be Joe? First he was Umaga, now he's Taz...maybe he can be Sabu next.

I want Joe to be Bastion Booger next.

Daffney looked great compared to the last time I've seen her wrestle, which was in WCW.

If I'm not mistaken neither Hernandez nor Homicide have cashed in their briefcases. I don't know what TNA is waiting for though.

Kong did a senton flip......jesus. If Angelina hadn't of got knocked out it would of been a pretty hot finish. Hope she's ok.

Foley as champion. Team 3d are tag champions. Bobby Lashley is a hot commodity. This was a weird edition of Summerslam.

Boy, was I off on my predictions.

Dittos to what everyone is saying about Foley as champ. They need to make their own homegrown stars look strong. Immediately, if not sooner.

It is absolutely asking for trouble to have faces cut a promo saying that they're afraid of what the crowd will do to their opponents. Especially if you're then going to have their match spend a lot of time IN the crowd. Ray and Devon should know better. All it takes is one idiot in the crowd who decides to follow up on the promo. Bad, bad, bad.

Other than that, what I watched (basically the middle hour) was pretty good. Kong's flip was amazing to watch but I would have saved it for a situation where she could win with it. Tying her hair to the cage was certainly a creative way to take her out, though.

I like Lashley coming in if--and it's a big if--he's not portrayed as above the homegrown guys. Equal to them would be good. They should have Joe, Daniels, AJ, and Abyss look strong against Lashley, Sting, Angle, and so on.

Hernandez cashed in against Sting, with a MEM run-in for the dq. Foley or Cornette promised he'd get another title shot, though.

Ah, I was wondering about that as I read through the thread. I was sure Hernandez had cashed in his shot, but didn't see that he was promised another title shot.

The show was pretty bad. I liked the Dudley Brawl mostly because the Dudley's were getting a great reaction to everything they did. There might have been bigger name tag teams with more pizazz, but the Dudley's really have been the best tag team the last 12 years or so.

Lethal Lockdown is just a dumb match to start with. The cage isn't big enough for that many guys. The rules aren't that far out for a TNA match, but they are still dumb. If the opening of the match is going to be no pins, then why not use some psychology and make the numbers advantage mean more.

The AJ Styles spot was neat and looked painful as he fell straight to the mat when nobody seemed to break his fall. The Frankenstiener could be the scariest move to be a part of right now, but it's crazy to see him still do it.

Foley/Sting seemed like it should have been more epic or something. You really could have put this match anywhere on the card and gotten the same thing out of it. I used to really love Cactus Jack and was fine with Foley drifting in and out of it, but it doesn't work for me anymore. Sting just seems like a stiff out there.

I always feel like I am watching wasted chances when I watch TNA. The WWE might seem stagnate, but TNA feels like watching a rerun only slower.

I am all for passing the torch, but what has Hernandez done to show that he deserves to be World Champ? Ever seen the guy cut a promo? Not pretty.

Don't get me wrong, I like the guy, but think LAX has floundered since Konnan left, and their ill advised face turn. About 2 years ago, when they feuded with AJ/Daniels and AMW, they were the hottest act in wrestling, or at least TNA. Not so much since.

I don't see anyone other than Joe or Styles being the guy to get the rub from Foley (if it even is a Frontline guy). And considering Joe is now in worse shape than ever, maybe it should only be AJ on that list. With Matt Morgan waiting in the wings, maybe?

Rock and Mankind, early '99. Granted, it was a brief period of shirt-wearing for Rock, but it fits the question.

True, but I think he meant "When was the last time a major promotion had to consecutive champions who were so fat/out of shape that they wrestled in shirts?"

I always Bobby Lashley and didnt like him leaving WWE, but I cant say I have the highest hopes for him in TNA.

I certainly agree it should be AJ. Even before Joe was screwed up I still thought AJ was THE TNA guy and that is who should win the title. Not to mention he'll do just about anything for the company, works his ass off and even improved greatly in his mic skills.

I don't know if Hernandez is a World Title contender but I'd take Hernandez over Morgan in a heartbeat. Morgan hasn't had a single match that was anything special. LAX has had a ton. Maybe they haven't had any in a while but it's not anything they've done wrong. Konnan leaving didn't make LAX any less skilled or over, Konnan leaving just lost them their push. If LAX is pushed properly (I know, big if) then they can still be the hottest thing in TNA.

Hernandez might not be good on the mic, but Morgan isn't great or anything. AJ wasn't any good on the mic until recently. I don't think Joe is that good either. He's certainly not going to get any better on the mic unless they give him the opportunity to work on it like AJ. If pushed properly Hernandez could at least get to the level of the old extremely over Abyss that was at least in the World Title picture and after a while got a short reign. Morgan at best I think is current watered down Abyss who is just kind of there not doing anything special.

Of course if this were a perfect world (for me) I'd say forget all of them and give Shelley the title.

I think I would go Hardy Boys. 2003-2006 they were apart and since then they've only reluctantly been allowed to be together but their body of work and popularity is just too singular. Too bad WWE squandered the main event programs they could've had with Hardys vs. Miz & Morrison and then Edge & Christian that would've really cemented their legacy. I'd actually call them the greatest tag team in WWE history.

So apparently AJ is Suicide.
