$169.99 in the US, $199.99 in Canada. Anyone getting one? If I happen to see one in a store sometime soon, I can see myself doing something stupid, but really, I have no need for one. My DS serves me well.
Until demand warrants it, I will keep the DSi release information in the DS threads. This is a one-time-only launch-day special.
DSiWare (North America; Sunday, April 5) - Master of Illusion Express: Funny Face (200 points) - Bird & Beans (200 points) - Art Style: Aquia (500 points) - WarioWare: Snapped! (500 points) - Brain Age Express: Math (800 points)
Wired reviews the DSiWare launch titles and the two 500 point games look like the ones to get. Coincidentally (?) you get 1,000 free points when you buy the system.
I still use my original clamshell DS, with no regrets (the later DS model actually feels too light in my hands, if that makes sense) ... I was tempted to pick up the DSi for music playback, but - apparently - it doesn't support MP3s, so no thank you.
I really like Tactics... but if I didn't already have a DS, I'm not sure I'd buy one just to play one game. That said, I think that there are enough titles out for the DS now that I wouldn't worry too much about buying a DS or a DSi, I'd just do it if you have the expendable cash. I do like the Zelda title (though some of the puzzles that rely on DS only things like blowing into the mic threw me), and there are lots of fun "play for 10 minutes and put it down" titles of various kinds. Game Fly does rent DS titles, so you can do that instead of buying lots of other games. You might see if you can get an older DS. I like my original DS just fine, and do not intend to replace it (the newer not DSi one feels a little small to me, but I think the button configuration might be better against cramping) with the DSi in the forseeable future.
Damn it, I didn't even realize a new Tactics was coming out. Why can't they release these things in the winter when I have more time.
I picked one up today; along with Phantom Hourglass, and both Brain Age games. I'm going on a road trip, so they'll do just fine for the way there.
So far so good: I'm not pleased that it doesn't support MP3s, but after some research, I found out that it's not hard to convert them to AACs. Now, the fun part: converting 8GB of music to AAC...
What I like: the finish - it's no longer a fingerprint attractant. I love the new matte finish as opposed to the glossy DS Lite.
The screens are larger, but I hadn't owned a DS long enough to remember what the DS Lite's screen looks like.
The cameras are low quality, but I own a 7.something megapixel Canon and my cellphone has a 2.0MP integrated cam, so this was more for fun than anything.
Configuring network connections is a joke; and the browser stinks.

Not necessarily. I myself am not an RTS fan (and therefore not a Warcraft fan, though I've played the early stages of Warcraft II -- that's how I know I'm not an RTS fan), but I'm interested in WoW.
