So I tried the McGangBang today. I was skeptical but it was surprisingly delicious. Also, even though is SEEMS imposing, I was able to eat it while driving with very little collateral damage. I could go for it again, I think.

(If you didn't click on the link, a McGangbang (also known as a "McChurger" by the guy at the 176th and Meridian McD's) is a whole McChicken inside a double-cheeseburger. And, I had the DIY McGB instead of asking them to go through the hassle of making it behind the counter.)

Since I went for the McGangBang I eschewed the Ghetto Big Mac, which is probably equally delicious.

Also, I must try the Bacon And Cheese Stuffed Pizza Burger. I give those guys credit for coming up with that.

My creation is the McQuad.

Buy two McDoubles, discard the bottom buns, and fold the remains together.

The result is a four-patty burger with two slices of cheese, two bun crowns, and condiments on both sides.

Freaking awesome.

Not the same idea, but I used to order McDonalds McFlurries and sundaes with chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla; it's a fun twist on a classic treat.

I had a friend a long time ago hook me up with a Pounder. QPw/C with 4 patties and 4 peices of cheese. Suffice to say, I never wanted to eat it ever again.

It seems like most of this is McDonald's play, but I really love a good burger, like something you get at Fuddruckers, Ruby Tuesday, or the king of 'em all, Red Robin. When I was working in a restaurant one of the cooks invented a burger that was two patties melded together with onions, green pepper, and pepperjack cheese inside, then cooked.

Kinda off-topic (or maybe not, given the thread title), but I've never understood the love for Red Robin. I went there twice, and both times I got very run-of-the-mill burgers. They weren't BAD, but I would never call them the king. Not even the crown prince or the court jester.

For my tastes, the king of franchise burger restaurants is Ted's Montana Grill. Can't beat a Blue Creek bison burger with bacon and mushrooms. Pass the ketchup please!

Red Robin is great because of its bottomless steak fries. Though, you usually have to beat your server within an inch of their life to convince them to bring you a second helping.

I am really trying to eat better, but dammit if I'm not going to find an excuse to eat a McGangBang this week.

I think part of the love for Red Robin is that the burgers USED to cost like $6.00 (and not that long ago) so it was a great place to go for relatively cheap and they have a few combinations on their burgers that can't be beat. I don't really like to go there that much anymore, but the last time we went I got a "Burnin' Love Burger", which IIRC had jalapenos, salsa, pepper-jack cheese, and chipotle mayo on a jalapeno-cornmeal roll. It was the best burger I've had there in a long time.

I give my Red Robin love for the sheer variety of burgers (most of which are also found in the very tiny "Cheeseburger" chain, mostly in Hawaii). It's all about the Banzai Burger (teriyaki, lettuce, grilled pineapple, cheddar, mayo) in my book, and I flat out can't get it anywhere else aside from making it myself.

I tried the McGangBang yesterday. It was weird. Not bad, but definitely different.

Tried the McGangbang today. There's definitely a reason they don't put cheese on the McChicken sandwich. I'll agree with Lexus that it was weird. I'm glad I tried it, but I'm in no hurry to eat another one.

Also, I somehow ended up with a spicy chicken patty. Is the default McChicken spicy now, or did my McDonald's goof? The spiciness just added to the weird.

EDIT: Nevermind. I read that the current McChicken recipe is somewhat spicy. I must not have noticed before.

Up in Missouri a couple years ago you could order a regular or Spicy McChicken. Then I moved to Texas and found that they don't serve the regular version down here at all but don't label it spicy either. Not that it's super spicy anyway but surprising when you don't expect it.

It's pretty spicy here, too, and that realization is why I went ahead with the McGB. The night before was a Friday and I realized while in the drive-thru I wasn't supposed to have a cheeseburger, so I got a McChicken instead - with no drink - and was surprised at the bite it had.

Are you maybe thinking of the Premium line of chicken sandwiches? They did have a spicy one here for a bit but now they just have the regular, club, and ranch blt. Of course, all of which pale in comparison to the Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich.

All of those combinations sound pretty much awful to me, but then I'm not big on McDs. We DO have a Fuddruckers, which is alright, but the closest Red Robin is in St. Louis I believe. Fuddruckers is decent, but nothing amazing. I do like that you can get as much condiments, pickles, lettuce, etc. as you want, as I love extra pickles on my burgers.
