I find it amusing that the Heroes faithful of The W have scattered from talking about the show, leaving me to start threads about it.
The two major events, perhaps not in order of importance are:
Claire gets a job at a comic book store and John (Lionel Luthor) Glover is revealed as Sylar's father.
Both big homages to Heroes' dwindling geek fandom and both, to be honest, I found pretty annoying. Not so much the completely stereotypical scene where all the comic book nerds in the store stare and drool over Claire, but at how absolutely clueless and pathetically she's written in her job interview.
Nerd in Charge: "Do you have retail experience?" Claire: "Uh... um... I was a cheerleader?" Nerd in Charge: "You're hired! Because you're so fucking hot!"
Would Comic Book Guy on The Simpsons hire her? No, despite her blonde ripe lusciousness, because she shows a complete ignorance about comics that would disgust Comic Book Guy. That scene was meant to be funny and wink wink, but it played especially retarded because Claire came off dumber than a cardboard longbox.
Also, Danko finally figures out Nathan has a superpower and is SHOCKED! SHOCKED!
Dumb episode this week.
Also, I shouldn't have watched the repeat of it on G4, which was horrible. Every act, they minimized the screen to a fourth of its size to show real time live blogging from their website. Ugh.
I loved that comic book store scene because half the geeks in there work for Nerd Herd/Buy More.
Too bad Sylar didn't cut open his Dad's head. Who knows how many cool powers he's accumulated besides the TK and Whistle thing.
'But if one is struck by me only a little, that is far different, the stroke is a sharp thing and suddenly lays him lifeless, and that man's wife goes with cheeks torn in lamentation, and his children are fatherless, while he, staining the soil with his red blood, rots away, and there are more birds than women swarming about him.' Diomedes, The Iliad of Homer
Lionel Luthor as Sylar's father annoyed you?! I was pretty thrilled myself. He's a great actor, I just wish he'd stick around on the show a little longer (or, even better, I wish the Smallville writers would figure out a plausible way to insert him back into THAT show).
I also found the job application pretty damn annoying. Number one, I don't know where the writers do their comic book shopping, but most shops I've been in have female customers. I'm not saying that it's anywhere near an even split, but these people have seen women before. And number two, like you said, she comes off even dumber than usual - which is a real achievement for the character.
You can top that off with her ending the show in "Daddy's" arms. Oh...thank you for rescuing me from the bad agents...that you sicced on us in the first place.

Why didn't Noah tackle Danko to the ground (he DID just throw a US Senator out of a window after all) so that he couldn't look out the window, then Nathan would have time to hover towards a ledge and make it look like he was able to grab on just before falling to his doom?
Danko would then be like a superhero's version of Mister Furley from "Three's Company" ...
This week's episode was better than last week's. That's not saying much. Last week's episode ruined the only Fleetwood Mac song I like.
Nice of them to finally remember Parkman had a whole life when this started. I wonder if we'll ever see his old partner again.
So I guess Nathan's a good guy now for finally realizing that he was being a douche. Am I the only one who thinks Danko is hiding a power of his own? All this irrational hate has to come from somewhere, right?
Why does everyone on tv rip arrows out backwards? Aren't you supposed to push them out the other side to minimize the tearing? I know that Sylar can heal, but still, why make it hurt that much more?
You believe me, don't you? Please believe what I just said...
I worked in a comic book store and yes, Claire would be hired on looks alone, because god damn that has happened and will always happen. I thought the episode was fast moving and it is starting to move towards the conclusion to this arc in a good way.
That was interesting way to go with episode 2. I figured with the cast that someone was going to be killed off by the first season, did not see Hawkman being that guy. Heatwave was my pick who has been awesome.
