That really bums me out. I haven't seen the BBC original yet, but I love the visual style, mood, music, and story. It's one of the few new shows this past year that is a must watch for me.

And Ashes to Ashes (the 80s version) debuts this week on BBCA America.

I didn't dig it as much as Life on Mars (UK).

I admittedly didn't watch the US version.

At least they're letting it run out the original batch of episodes.

I think I'll miss Michael Imperioli the most. I bought into his portrayal totally.

Re: visual style...the coloration really stood out to me and was impressive. I loved how they "colored" 1973 yellowish/amberish. They made 1973 *look* old and not modern, as opposed to 2008/2009, which was shown in a more-modern bluish hue.

As embarrassed as I might be to admit it, Sam breaking into "Ice Ice Baby" was my favorite moment of the series (so far). I started out shaking my head because it was so stupid, but by the end I was grinning ear to ear.

There's no chance at all that this makes it to DVD, right? It'd be quite fiscally irresponsible to pay for all the music rights when nobody is gonna buy a DVD set. And you can't (well, shouldn't) do it without the music.

One would imagine that they get the DVD rights for the music when they get the broadcast rights now. Of course, that's just me speculating, but it's hard to believe any production company would be so short-sighted not to do that now that TV on DVD is so commonplace.

The US version had a high hurdle to clear to even approach the UK version, and it never quite got there. There's definitely something to be said for the British model of shorter, self-contained series. People might be more likely to try a series (and stick with it) if they know it'll only be eight episodes.

So will the series end with a proper series finale, or will they keep it open ended so that there's a possibility of a return?

Too many series are ended prematurely, without a proper send-off, and that bothers me.

That's too bad. The only new show I watched and enjoyed this Fall and I had not seen the original, but will try and hunt it down now.

I watched it, but I'm not going to cry over it's cancellation. Michael Imperioli's hair (both facial and his actual hairstyle) were the best things on the show. The show settled in for a while and didn't really address him being sent back in time all that much, but then when rumors of cancellation swirled, all of a sudden the episodes put a bigger focus on that.

Same here. This sucks.

I think this is the first show I've ever really liked that got the ax after just one season.

they say that it will get a real ending - I wish they would spin off Michael Imperioli's character or at least his 'stache

I want to copy a format I've seen for TV ratings, namely where I list some winners and losers, ratings wise. This lets me highlight a few shows whose ratings have stood out to me.
