Orlando Magic point guard Jameer Nelson, who's recently been named to his first All-Star game, will miss a minimum of a few weeks, and quite possibly the rest of the season, due to a torn glenoid labrum of his right shoulder, suffered in the third quarter of Orlando's loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night.

The labrum, according to WebMD.com, is responsible for helping to keep one's arm bone inside the shoulder socket. The otherwise relatively-thin socket is deepened by the cartilage, and protects the edges of the bone.

In any event... the Magic have no backup point guards on the roster aside from 34-year-old journeyman Anthony Johnson, currently averaging 4.3 points and 2.6 assists per game, who's played 47 games this season (starting five) and averaging about 18 minutes per game. (And whom I fondly remember as averaging 20 PPG in the Pacers' 2006 NBA Playoffs run).

I don't know what the Magic's salary-cap situation is, but I'm sure the Knicks' Stephon Marbury and the Pacers' Jamaal Tinsley are watching this particular situation closely, as two point guards who've been essentially abandoned by their own teams this year. I doubt Marbury'll be traded, but what about Tinsley? Or barring that, can anyone think of a serviceable point guard on the free-agent market?

I tore that my sophomore year in HS. You get used to the constant subluxations after awhile. I have three hooks in my shoulder, but I'm sure there is a less invasive way to do it now. My range of motion is also real shitty now, too.

The Bulls are rumored to be shopping Hinrich around.

Well, the Magic made a deal today trading Keith Bogans (and cash) to Milwaukee for Tyronn Lue.

Yesterday, Celtics guard Ray Allen was added to the Eastern Conference All-Star team by Commissioner David Stern to fill Jameer Nelson's spot on the roster, as obviously he won't be able to play.

This'll give the Celtics a third All-Star this year, joining Garnett and Pierce.

David DuPree tossed this idea out a few days ago in USA Today, and it sounded interesting enough to bring over here: If you were to create a seven man team from the NBA teams in California (Golden State, Sacremento, Clippers and Lakers)
