Originally posted by EW.comAt last night's SAG Awards, Mickey Rourke, star of The Wrestler, told Access Hollywood that he's set to participate in the WWE's Wrestlemania 25, which will take place in Houston on April 5. "The boys from the WWE called me and asked me to do it," Rourke told Access Hollywood. "I said, ‘I want to.’ I’m talking with [WWE wrestler] Rowdy Roddy Piper about it." The actor also hinted at a potential opponent by saying, "Chris Jericho, you better get in shape. Because I’m coming after your ass."

Way to blow the surprise, dude. I'm with some of the comments posted after the article and Jason Powell: This is wonderful exposure for WWE, but probably not what Mickey Rourke needs right now.
No way does the Academy give the trophy to a guy associated with the WWE. At least not this year.
I've seen this sentiment quite a bit throughout various commentaries, but I don't get it. It's Mickey Rourke! Association with wrestling, given his history, is hardly high on his list of debauchery
Everyone knows the guy's a flake (like Penn ain't) but his performance, plus the Hollywood love for a comeback story, should tilt the scales in his favor. Rourke with a live microphone is a different story

Demonstrations are a drag. Besides, we're much too high
If that's actually true, and not just a swerve to prevent his Oscar chances from getting screwed up, then I'm betting the decision was made by his handlers, not Mickey Rourke. I can't see that guy giving a crap about whether or not Hollywood thinks he's slumming.
Now updated with a quote from Mr. McMahon himself:
"I am pleased that Mickey Rourke will be in attendance at WrestleMania to support the WWE Superstars who support him and the film in which he stars, The Wrestler."
And perhaps, the potential Best Actor of 2008 Oscar-winner will join A Very Special Club.
If you ask me, and you didn't, the match is on. But until the Oscars are over, Rourke is just "making an appearance."

Please, DON'T put Debra on TV. I feel for her personal life, but I cherish the days where I can watch WWETV without seeing either Debra or Stephanie. phshwooh, eocs
