President Barack Obama: The Man and His Journey (The W at Amazon) (direct to DVD, 2009) Hrm, when's Inauguration Day again? Includes "Free Digital Download of Exclusive Brian McKnight song." FREE DIGITAL DOWNLOAD OF EXCLUSIVE BRIAN MCKNIGHT SONG!!!!!!!!
Repo! The Genetic Opera (2008) I see they have wisely attempted to sell it as "from the producers of SAW" rather than "Paris Hilton SINGS!" Believe it or else, this was out in November but never made it into more than 11 theatres - coincidentally, eleven, I believe, was the number of talk shows Hilton went on to attempt to promote this thing Repo! The Genetic Opera [Blu-ray]
National Lampoon's Stoned Age (Homo Erectus, 2007) Oh, Lordy, WHY. Truly frightening cast list I will spare you but when David Carradine is followed by Talia Shire, followed by Carol Alt, followed by Gary Busey...well, you get the idear. National Lampoon's Stoned Age - Unrated
MOVIE FOR KIM OF THE WEEK The Kids Are Alright (UK, 1979) Reissue of the out of print 2003 Pioneer release The Kids Are Alright "Special Edition" adds second disc "Won't Get Filmed Again," around 2.5 hours of bonus material
MOVIES FROM NORWAY OF THE WEEK Cold Prey (Fritt Vilt - Norway, 2006) Co-written, directed by Great Name Roar Uthaug - if you speak Norwegian, check out www.frittvilt.com - YES there IS a "Fritt Vilt 2," we can only hope it'll land on our shores very soon now Kill Buljo (Norway, 2007) If "Kill Bill" were made in Norway...again, we have the Weinsteins to thank for bringing this to America. Sadly, their website appears to be non-functional.
Here are a bunch of rereleases under the "Girls' Night Out" banner. I think that means these are all chick flicks - who knew? More info MAYBE at www.girlsnightinfun.com - if nothing else, you really should check out the fact that they have a TRAILER for the entire CONCEPT - and it's just DREADFUL.
The End of America (2008) Naomi Wolf wants you to know we're living in Nazi Germany now The End of America: Director's Cut "This two-disc director's cut is jam packed with never-before-seen bonus material, including: an exclusive interview with Anthony Romero, president of the ACLU; a detailed interview with Daniel Ellsberg, former military analyst; a featurette with New York Times reporter Nicholas Kristof, and much more."
Ninja Vixens: Complete Box Set TEN movies, none of which you've heard of - Flame of Seduction, Crimson Blades, Devilish Angels, Vixen Dropouts, Web of Passion, Forbidden Paradise, Treasure of Lust, Carnal Enchantment, Demonic Sacrifices and Virgin Nightmares Kick That Habit (Switzerland, 1989) "A Sound Movie by Peter Liechti (peterliechti.ch) - (not much more) info at Drag City Records (dragcity.com) Shinobi: The Law of Shinobi/Runaway (Japan, 2002) (Japan, 2005) On Each Side (A Cada Lado - Argentina, 2005) Another Man's Garden (O Jardim do Outro Homem - Mozambique/Portugal/France, 2006) Connected (Bo Chi Tung Wah - China/Hong Kong, 2008)
Hidden Agenda (Canada, 1998) Christopher Plummer, Andrea Roth, Michael Wincott, JT Walsh Life's Decisions (2005) Stripper Academy (direct to DVD, 2007) Ah, Maverick (maverickentertainment.cc) - always good for one god awful yet strangely amusing trailer per week
18 Year Old Virgin (direct to DVD, 2009) - don't conclude it's possibly the worst film every made until you watch the trailer over at The Asylum (theasylum.cc)
War Metal Battle Master Lair of the Minotaur - www.myspace.com/lairoftheminotaur - I guess what's MOST confusing about this listing is that Amazon thinks it's a good jumping off point to get to the "Mamma Mia!" Blu-ray release.
A BIBLE STUDY FOR THE CRUNK 13 Letters with Book(s) and DVD 116 Clique - "...a hip hop overview of Paul's letters in the New Testament" expanded into a 13-week course. Word? More info at Reach Records (merchline.com)
We're done here. But hey, you want to talk about it? Reply now!
Back on the Monday with the usual statistical stuffery!

Well the nudity certainly made it more palpable....but yeah, it looks pretty bad. Kinda reminds me of that old MTV show "Undressed."
Oh yeah! Time to bump up my SAW collection with #5 and maybe Max Payne. My father loves the games but was bummed out by the movie. I have been told I am a rather sick puppy with my likey of the SAW flicks. Who else don't wanna see one of the New Kids on the Block get maimed?

I can't speak to the DVD, but the cd is actually very good, assuming you like that style. In addition, the 116 Clique's theology is surprisingly good on the album and in their other work associated with this project. Any artist who name drops John MacArthur and James Boice in their discussion of Romans, as Shai Linne does, gets a big thumbs up from me.

I hope you didn't have your heart set on ordering "Saw V" from Amazon. I have no idea why you can't get them there. Clearly from all the TV ads I've had to endure it IS still coming out Tuesday...and you can still get the Blu-Ray or full screen versions.
Here's the Top 24. Notice that "Saw V" is STILL in there even though Amazon says it isn't available. It's one of those CONUNDRUMS - like in the SAW movies!
The Powerpuff Girls set showing up from nowhere over the course of a week means the Cartoon Network ad campaign must have worked. So too must the push for Repo! as "from the producers of SAW" in the "Saw V" ads, since it's now up to #2 - I wonder how many of those people actually know what that movie IS - or how awful it is. My guess is a lot of folks are getting hoodwinked and in two to three weeks you'll be seeing a lot of sub-$5 copies available from the usual Amazon resellers. Not that it matters, because you should not pay ANY price for this movie. I cannot stress that enough.
Let's all fear for the country even further as we examine the early top 24 for NEXT Tuesday...
You wanted the best, you got... Out of Context Quote of the Week.
"Mangini might not have had balls, but he DID have soft, supple breasts." (SEADAWG)
As I understand it, the whole push behind Repo! originally was to spin it as a Rocky Horror Picture Show-style cult classic. So if that's what they expected, that's probably how the studio pushed the movie: limited theatrical release, make assloads of money on DVD. Still doesn't explain the premiere in the Planet Hollywood casino (on the floor, no less), although I would've loved to see the reaction from mindless slot players a few days earlier, when they premiered Saw V the same way...
Actually, I think I heard a rumor a while ago that they were interested in getting Isla Fisher to play Poison Ivy. But this was a while ago, so it could very well be false.
