The eternal optimist that I am: If you thought '08 killed your wallet, '09 will make '08 look like Camelot. Dow will float near 5,000 at some point, the S@P between 500-600. Slight bounceback towards the middle of the year. Rally will die when China decides to dump Treasuries. Then, Dow 5,000 will look like the good old days Unemployment nationally goes near 15%, which if you use the pre-1994 method of calculations means it really is closer to 30%. Bailouts will get bailouts. Bernie Madofff will use the defense that he was just running a system similar to Social Security, thus the people who are prosecuting him for running a Ponzi Scheme are running a Ponzi Scheme of their own. He'll get at least 1 hung jury off of this argument. Israel and Iran will finally have a, if not a hot war, a warm war. India and Pakistan will have a hot war, with at least 1 nuke being launched. Regime change will occur in Egypt. Unfortunately, it will turn Egypt into Iran 1979. Mexico will move more and more towards anarchy. The History Channel will really bang the drum on the world ending in 2012. I'll take the Giants/Celtics/Red Sox trifecta to hit.
I have a feeling that the American people, about 12 noon or so Eastern on January 20th, will be watching their TV's and ask themselves: Who the hell thought it was a good idea to elect this guy again?

Undoubtedly.

My only lock is that 2009 will end with a still-unmarried Bristol & Baby Daddy Palin. Chances are 50-50 if the story is still that they "plan to get married" or if they've quietly put that to rest.

When it happens once, I chalk it up to 'one of those things.' Twice in a two week time period makes me think someone might have figured out how to play with this companies grid system.
