Tricia's Wii #:

6775-4624-5482-8760

Tricia's Animal Crossing Wii Friend code #:

1977-3652-3442

My town is only several hours old right now with six other inhabitants and trees with cherries. I will explore more tomorrow when I have more time.

EDIT: I think it plays basically like the Gamecube version and DS version. If you liked them, you will probably like this game. The town seems kinda tacked on, but they brought back the holidays from the Gamecube and the Flea market days from the DS. I also have the guidebook and it looks like they expanded the item catalog again too. (Silver tools added) I didn't spend the extra 20 dollars for the WiiSpeak gizmo. Also, for my first town I didn't have a current DS Wild World game character to import as my new character. But I couldn't get the Internet connection to work for the DS version of the game, so I am looking forward to invading my niece's town and stealing all of her fruit!

Edit: You also need to know the character's name and the town name in order to register your friend's town code. PM me for mine if you are interested.

I got the game, but I'm pretty busy for the 1st half of this week, so I didn't bother starting up a game. I'll post my info later in the week.

EDIT: here's my code - 4640-2497-9514

I will edit this thread to include my numbers later but I'm just marvelling at the fact that, despite not having added anyone at all for this game yet, one of my villagers was discussing her old friend Spiff from 13ville the other day.

Ha! That's awesome.

I wonder how that works? Once you've obtained your friend code, you are fair game to be mentioned by a villager? Or connected to Wii Connect through the game?

What fruit trees does everyone have? I see that Tricia has cherries, as do I. I want to get some other fruits growing. I did see 2 coconuts wash up on shore in my town on separate days - I planted 1, which died as a sapling, and I'm holding on to the other to plant when it gets warmer.

I had a villager tell me, and I quote, "It's s-so freaking c-cold."

Now, I don't care about language & whatnot, but I'm a little surprised that "freaking" made it into the game.

That's nothing compared to the copy that made it to reviewers.

When you come upon Baabara, the town's resident sheep, you're greeted with a racial epithet. The word is used repeatedly in your conversation with the sheep.

"I almost forgot about you, N—-a" "So got any juicy gossip for me, N—-a?" "Just thinking about it gets me all excited, N—-a."

The word, written with a tilda over the N and an accent over the A, apparently popped up in the game because the person who was playing it, most likely a Nintendo employee, customized the greeting of the critter to include the word. One of the draw's of the original DS title was that the text speech of the game's inhabitants can be customized.

I find that when the villagers ask for a new catchphrase, the best thing to suggest is "in bed." It creates all kinds of fortune cookie-style hilarity.

Tricia, Spiff - my animals have been asking about you! I am away for Christmas but I brought my Wii - I will have to find a way to get online so I can open the gate again.

I've had villagers tell me that if I pull 7 weeds in Radville, it will make it easier to find fossils in my town.

KJames199: When I was in your village, I made a point to go door to door introducing myself. Same for 13ville. I was curious to see if I could entice anybody to move away with me, but all I got was a bird named Piper. Is ten the limit of the number of neighbors you can have?

Spaceman Spiff: I have been hearing the same thing from the animals I see when I visit the city too. For the record, in my town during December, the Katrina charm is to plant five flowers seeds to increase the chance of finding rare items. Of course, I didn’t find this out until after I had visitors over. SORRY!!

Also, is there any truth to the online rumor that if you give fruit to the animals who live in your town with you, they will give you non-native fruit back? I have been doing that for almost a week now but all I am getting back is wall paper and carpet. (so far…)

1 of my animals just moved out over the weekend (Dizzy, an elephant). She didn't say where she was going, so maybe keep an eye out for her.

No idea about that fruit rumor.

I did get "foreign" fruit from my animals in the original. Usually this happened after they moved away and they mailed it from their new town. I suspect this happens if they move away for reasons other than your town being full of weeds.

Success!

If you send out a letter to an animal and you type the phrase “friend friend gift” or “Gimme some fruit!” and attach an item, there is a chance that the return gift will be a random fruit. The other option is an item of clothing. I don’t know if it makes a difference if you are good friends with the animal or not. And all of my testing has been done with items from Nook’s and not with local fruit. But I did this and now I have all six types of fruit growing in my town.

And as soon as the trees grow in, I will trade almost anyone out there in internet la-la land my fruit for friendship codes.

Edit: My January 2009 Katrina charm is to plant 4 flower seeds for economic prosperity.

Just to confirm, I tried the same thing and immediately got back 1 apple (yay!), 1 cherry (boo!), and 2 shirts.

Edit: My January 2009 Katrina charm is to plant 4 flower seeds for economic prosperity.

I keep getting townies mentioning this to me, imploring me to do it, even after I actually did it.

And I finally caught a coelecanth! No luck catching a tuna yet.

Missouri Police: Animal Crossing is Pedophile Haven
By Earnest Cavalli

In a demonstration of paranoia that would almost be comical if it wasn't true, the Mid-Missouri Internet Crimes Task Force has begun warning parents away from Nintendo's Animal Crossing: City Folk, saying its online gameplay offers pedophiles an easy avenue to get at their precious children.

"There is no reason an adult should have this game," says Task Force member Andy Anderson, directly before Missouri's KMIZ news adds the following inference:

"Anderson says adults playing "Animal Crossing" and similar games are likely doing it for the wrong reasons."

Before you gamers verbally assault Anderson and the Missouri police, please note that they almost have to focus on the Wii, as apparently it's the only console they could get the funding to purchase. "The equipment is real expensive and we cannot afford to buy all of the systems and do not have the resources either to examine all of the possibilities," Anderson said.
