Why are people ragging on last night's RVD-Guerrero match? If anything, it was a much better match than the spotfest ladder match. The guys showed that you don't need to go over the top rope all the time to do an entertaining match. These two actually wrestled their asses off. But there are these buttholes who cry out for more and longer 'rassling matches and less McMahons, but when it happens, these morons cry "Boring!" What's up with that??

I promise most of the folks who don't want Vince on tv and who like long matches are not the folks who might have been bored by that match. However, that match was somewhat off to my way of watching it. It seemed like RVD wasn't quite able to get into the flow of Eddy's rocking submission ground game style, and his inability to lock into the style and really sell it made the match seem somewhat ragged to me.

I liked the match, but it bothered me that the crowd was so quiet for most of it. It might take some time, but if they can re-educate the fans on submission wrestling and psychology, then matches like that one can become more the norm. The thing is, they need some sort of payoff, to show at some point during the match that Eddy working on RVD's arm had an actual effect, that it wasn't just them killing time until the end of the match. Even if they'd done a little thing where RVD hit the Rolling Thunder but landed on his arm in the process, and was too hurt to go for the pin there as a result, that would have made the matwork more meaningful.

I think on Smackdown, Christian and Val had a nice little match that made it work, where Christian hammered Val's back and Val went for Christian's knee. Both injuries figured into the end, Christian's knee buckled on him which allowed Val to hit his backdrop powerbomb thingy for the win. If this is part of a concentrated effort to rework the "WWE style" of match, then I say bring it on, but it'll take some time for the wrestlers to remember (or learn?) how to do it correctly, and for the fans to buy into it. It's like the earlier thread though about multiple finishers and kicking out of them, this is the sort of thing that can make the whole match more exciting, because every move would count and could have an impact on the match's finish, not just whatever's done in the last minute or two.

spf, you helped me make my point. For the past year RVD almost exclusively fought brawlers and aerialists. Guerrero played aerialist during the ladder match. Of course RVD would be crossed up by Guerrero switching to mat wrestling for this match, so he did look ragged.

As for the fans being quiet, well, intermediary holds and locks doesn't lend itself to raucous cheering. Also, Guerrero was working to take the fans out of the game, and he succeeded. Also, these aren't ECW fans, who, contrary to popular opinion, do cheer for technical wrestling.

Fortunately, RVD after a few minutes realized he got mat skills too and made a match of it.

I thought the match was quite good. I don't know where the hell Good Ole J.R. and Jerry's heads were during this match. That and the fans were never really into the event all night. I think Goldberg got the biggest pop. I believe the match went over 10 minutes so I can't complain. I could watch these two every week, sorta like Lynn/RVD. I was surprised by the outcome though.

That was a great match. I really, really liked it. The crowd was expecting Goldberg for some reason. He got a few chants last night. But I enjoyed it, screw the Atlanta fans if they didn't. But I think it is a case of them not being used to seeing a long match like that. I hope we get to see more of those matches.

While I'm sure the match was good, I've seent he two together too much. You don't end the RVD/Eddie run after that ladder match by following up with a tag match and then a King of the Ring qualifier. I was kind of bored, I'll admit, there were nice moments, but on the whole the crowd was dead and while the guys were giving their all, I'd seen it all before. I've seen TOO much Eddie/RVD for now. I'd like a week off, thanks.

One thing to remember about the crowd reactions is that before the show started apparently an announcement was made that Austin would not be appearing at all. All the reports seem to imply the crowd never really got back into the flow of things. So combine a bummed-out crowd of Austin marks waiting to bellow "WHAT?" with an intricate mat wrestling affair, and it's not hard to understand the quiet reaction.

I'm really hating the "WHAT?"'s now, they're getting fucking annoying and not showing any respect for wrestlers cutting promos.Apparently, the only people who can afford tickets to WW(F)E shows are Austin marks and don't know any wrestlers beside him.

I shall make this point with a reenactment of something that happen to me at the JUDGEMENT DAY PPV:

Me to guy standing next to me:
Who your favorite wrestler?

Guy:Austin,You?

Me:I like RVD.

Guy:Who?

Me:You don't know who RVD is?

Guy:Is he that guy who walks around like a snotty british guy.

Me:Uh,no

Guy:Well,I don't really watch wrestling that much,I just see what Austin does than i turn it off.

Me:So,you don't see any other wrestler.

Guy:Yeah that old, white haired guy he's fighting with.

Me:That's RIC FLAIR! How in the bloody hell do you not know who Ric Flair.

Guy:I just watch what Austin does.I don't care what some old wrinklin' up man does because Austin is the best wrestler ever.

At this point I walk away because I was afraid I do something I'd later regret.

But the point is about all of the fans who go to WW(F)E shows are just going with the popularity level of it.A lot of the TRUE FANS are carrying "CRZ IS WALKING" and there for the psychology.I thought the RVD/Eddie match was good and the short 5-STAR off the apron was killer.

Anyway the TRUE FANS know the truth about wrestling while the NEW FANS just know about the Rock,Austin,HHH but ask them who Lance Storm is and they go "WHO"? and they're not talking about Jim Neidhart

OK,well i'm finished ranting

END COMMUNICATION!

Who the hell are you to judge what makes a real fan? you ever heard of an opinion?

And you should really take wrestling a little less seriously if someone not knowing your favorite wrestlers is enough to get you all crazy mad.

Yes,I have heard of a opinion and that was mine.

I am a real fan,I have watch wrestling since I was 3 years old,
A lot of what I was talking about was respect, the fans don't show any respect for a lot of wrestlers when they're chanting "WHAT"? during every pause.

People who are true wrestling fans know it but a lot of them are just posers.

That's MY opinion and I could be wrong.

BTW:The part where I said I was afraid I would do something I would regret,I never really thought that I was adding it for a little comedic effect.

I think JR's shitty announcing hurt the match. He doesn't get into anything that doesn't involved 90% punching and kicking. Everytime RVD and Eddie would do a crazy spot, he'd blow it off and resume talking about Flair/McMahon. I know it wasn't the main event, but he was the same during their ladder match.

And I thought the crowd was fairly hot for the match. RVD turned to the crowd early on to showboat, and they went apeshit. Which begs the question.... when the hell are they gonna pull the trigger on his main event push??? It becomes more apparent with each week that RVD is more over than most of their top guys. Eddie has been looking awesome, too. I've officially become a fan of his.

I also thought the crowd was sufficently jacked for the match. I certainly didn't expect them to pop for the *cross armbar* like some overly pretentious smarks thought they should. They definately dug the moonsault and splitlegged variety that RVD missed as well. If you watch any match with a slow pace like this one you'll see the crowd being quieter. I watched Judgment Day 2000 yesterday, the Iron Man match specifically and the crowd was just as quiet during the 5 or 6 sleeper spots they pulled out. I think people are ragging on the match because of the botched finish. If RVD won clean with the frog splash I don't think you'd see the backlash. It could also be just expectations being too high for these guys. Every match they've had has been under the microscope. For what this was, RAW TV match, I thought it was good.
