Well, either the WWE has a hell of an explanation on their hands, or the Brand Extension didn't even last 3 months. =) I guess this is Vince's answer to the ratings slide.

You have to be amazed that when looking at the problems with the WWE and their ratings, after considering all of their options and the angles they could run, Vince sat down and came to the conclusion that what they needed was more of him on tv. I'll give them one more week or two, since Austin's bitch tantrum I'm sure forced some funky improv stuff, but if that's the way they hope to end the slide, well, I'm sure I can find better things to do on my Mondays.

I'd like to thank Steve Austin and the WWE. Capricious booking, crybaby tantrums and walkouts, snide little comments by HBK. I love this crap! And because I do so much, I think I'll take a nice long sabbatical myself-- from watching this complete and utter horse sh!t. Only the WWE knows hos to turn off life long wrestling fans.

What?

No.

WhatEVER.

You know? We here about this every time Vince does something that changes a storyline: People say they are going to quit watching. Let's face it. Most of you are like me. You are hooked. The WWF owns you, and you will continue to watch, no matter what they throw at you.

And, to look at this another way: Would you have preferred that Ric Flair were given "100% ownership"? Nope, not me. At the very least, I'd rather see Vinny Mac getting his ass kicked on a regular basis.

To wrap this up, I'll quote Vince from Byte This: "Everyone's a writer..." Why don't we give this some time, and let's see how things play out.

So is it waaay too much of a coincidence that WWE does an end to the "Flair ownership" of the RAW brand and (as reported at 1popup) Ticketmaster posts a house show for WCW (promoted by WWE)?

To put it another way, what if they are NOT ending the "split" and just coming up with a reason to put Shane (and possibly Steph) back on TV?

Then I can only ask who in their right mind thought we needed ALL the McMahon's back on tv? Steph in place of Flair...gee that's a winning idea.

FWIW, the ticketmaster event marked WCW does say WWE in the event details, so I'm thinking it's more likely just a misprint.

And as for angrycheesehead, well I've basically quit watching Smackdown in protest of it sucking. It takes a lot for me and most others to stop watching, but I know it damn well is possible to do. And nights like this make that eventuality much closer to reality.

Well, I don't mind Shane on TV. I like Shane. Though I am saddened by the end of the split (if it is indeed really the end, and they don't pull something else out of their ass)

maybe they are going to give Heyman an "Owner" role. i hope so. i cant stand Vince slobbering over girls who are younger than his daughter on both shows. i may not quit watching, but i'll be changing the channel a lot more.

Well, I took that quiz, and I'm a little surprised with the results.

Maybe... getting Brock to help him win would certainly help him out there. That said, please get Flair back on TV and, honestly, Vince OFF. Enough McMahons on TV. No more.

You know, this puzzles me.

When RAW was going the way it used to, before the Invasion--which everyone agrees sucked--before the split, which everyone agrees sucked--it was Vince for a large portion of the time, and while it was annoying to have him on so much, we all agree that it was better.

So what the hell? Vince comes back, yeah, it's awful, but if it gets the WWE back into the same little run they had going, then it's a necessary evil. Or would we all rather they tried to drag this excessively faltering angle on awhile longer?

(who knows. maybe we'll get a tag-team division again.)

I actually like the split.

It's some of the shit they've been doing with it that's been bugging me. They've turned RAW into the Steve Austin Kicks Everybody's Ass Show, and SmackDown into the Vince McMahon Hits On Hot Chicks and Triple H Pulls Down Kurt Angle's Tights Show.

Not to mention the piss, the vomit, the dog shit, and other nasty stuff they've been doing in the last four months.

But when WWE SmackDown: Shut Your Mouth comes out for the PS2, first thing I'm gonna do is get a draft started.

Of all the days to have my cable go out . That said -

When they announced that Flair and Vince would be meeting for total control of WWE, did you *really* think that there was any chance at all that Flair would win? Vince obviously has no intention of letting anyone or anything WCW-related get a lasting victory over himself (and, by extension, WWE).

On other topics (based on the 1wrestling recap)...

* When Regal knocked out Bradshaw with Chris Harvard's brass knuckles, why didn't Chris slide into the ring and pick up the Hardcore Title for himself?

* Looks like the Hardys are back together. That gives WWE *two* tag teams - one on each show. (sigh)

* An apparently-classic HBK promo - and I miss ALL of it. (double sigh)

* Let the Booker T face push commence.

* I *really* hope that Stephanie McMahon will not get RAW now that Vince is "back in control" of both WWE brands. Paul E. or Eric B. would be fine. Shane would be acceptable. But not Stephanie.

I can only hope that the weekend shows will have significant recaps of the action.

Steph

angrycheesehead: I think the you will alwaybe be hooked comment is unfair. I for one was a major baseball MARK, but I haven't been to game and lost all interest since the strike. I was a WCW fan BIG time, watched Nitro, Thunder, Sat. Night, Worldwide. But then I started skipping the weekend shows, then Thunder, and I remember this day perfectly. When Russo had Goldberg Win Streak v2.0 or your fired, I sat there thinking why I'm I watching this? and after that I never went out of my way to catch Nitro again, I saw segments but never beginning to end shows.

I remember back to my very first WrestlingBoard, it was iwrestling. And they had WWF and WCW on different forums, and when I first got there it was pretty even posts for each Fed. Then WCW started going downhill and a lot of bitchin on the WCW forum. Then the number of posts on WCW started going down and before you know it WWF forum had 2:1 or 3:1 over WCW. An average post on WWF would have 15 different peoplereplys while something on WCW would have 5 people reply... They talk about never losing the hardcore fan but you could lose casual but these were all hardcore fans, net dwellers like us, and WCW did something to turn them so off they dont' bother watching and then didn't post. I'm sure there is a breaking point for everything, once you totally get tired you leave even if you did love it once.

Unfortunatly tonight I felt the same way as Goldberg streak v2.o. I've always said don't press the panic button, the sky isn't falling. I changed my mind, something is wrong, like it was in WCW back there, the changing an entire direction of major characters and stories on a dime. It seems like a company spinning on its heels

What did we have tonight
- Vince saying stuff to Flair that made no sense for either character to do, the fans had no idea how to react, Flair a face, Vince a face, what?

-NWo kicking out there only workhorse, one questions, who's actually going to be the main wrestler in this group. Is Shawn BSing again and he could go? Tell me it's not Nash, Nash is inbetween a hasbean and a neverWas, I'd rather see Hogan, BigSHow? all BigShow pushes last a month untill people get sick of him, XPac. This group is awful.

-Women division, amazing what 3 weeks can do. 2 months ago a Trish/Molly feud was "can't miss" they booked it perfectly with 2 great girls. UNTILL, they felt like Trish needed a bit more Terri in her character (cause we all know how amazingly over Terri stuff gets). So you have your #1 face act like a complete sluty buffoon for 3 weeks. Trish comes out to a luke warm reception, Molly comes out to about the same. Heel Molly hits her finisher to POPs. I'm sure the jackasses who build Trish these last 3 weeks are all scratching there heads thinking "The crowd reacted like we didn't expect" Even though a half dozen of posters here called it 3 weeks ago. Can somebody please call Fit Finley back from his pullaway of Hunter during non-match fight encounters and have him do what he was doing the first 2 or 3 months of the women division... By the way great match girls too bad no one cares about either of you now.

-Chris Harvard, It probably is just me, but I find it obsured that a tough enough LOSER is on the show just a half year after the tough enough winner. They will say he has the talent and he might have, just seems sooo I dont' know what's the point of winning or losing or watching Tough enough... Even though I love his character.

-The World champion is getting puked on and having the Hardyz take him out, the same Hardyz that had there asses handed to them by Lesner. Ohh I forgot Jeff found his extacy err I mean extremacy, so now they are kool again.

Sorry to be so negative, I just have a bad feeling like never before. well Lawler did have a good line on Dreamers puke bucket when canfittie (sp)came out of it and Lawler said "Did a clown throw up in it" . There wasn't even a good sign in the crowd tonight =(

Rephrase:

The split itself, the idea alone, would not be a failure in the least.

However, nor would the Invasion.

The problem is that these things are judged based on what the WWE DOES with them. And much like they did with said invasion, they seem to, in general, be pissing it away.

So I like the concept of a change. One change in spirit can do wonders for a company. We'll just have to see if they take advantage of it again.

No, but at the time I had no idea of the Austin walk-out while watching the show, so I figured it was some sort of swerve angle. First I thought it was to lure out Austin so that they could both attack him somehow. Then as the show was drawing to its close I began to suspect Austin might not be appearing, but maybe this was how they would re-intro one of the McMahon kids on tv by having them interfere in the match and say that Flair promised Shane and/or Steph something if they got Vince out of the way.
