On my way into work today, I was seeing lines at the shops near where I work. People lined up outside of Sears, and Penny's at 445AM. So, I figure surely us W's have some good purchases they can brag about.

I assume there are threads for past years. The question is in the title I bought nothing, although I skipped high tea to try the new taco truck in town, and it was quite tasty. I had a $5 super burrito (Asada) at Jenny's tacos.

You are setting a TERRIBLE example.

I slept in, but we're going to check out some stores that are open late and see what's out there. I anticipate buying everything online later.

I didn't go to any stores this morning either, but I did venture over to Carl's Jr for breakfast at 7, and the Target they front had a packed parking lot.

I guess you could say my big buy this morning was a Country Breakfast Burrito.

We bought a Frazier Fir for $40 at Lowe's, jeans, a sweater and a blouse for our daughter at Pennys and Maurices. After lunch we purchased some Poinsettias and headed home. There is nothing to be bought that is worth being at a store at 4 or 5 am. It's just stuff. At the Hutchinson Mall, no huge lines, just a little busier than normal. There were some really good sales but if I don't need it, it's not a bargain.

For the first time since 2001 (maybe 2000, I forget), I did NOT wake up early on Black Friday to line up outside some store. I've been following rumored and confirmed BF deals on SlickDeals.net as I do every year, and it just didn't look like there was anything ANYWHERE worth lining up for. The only thing I sorta wanted was Transformers on Blu-Ray disc for $9.99, and I got that from bestbuy.com on Thanksgiving morning. Otherwise, seemed like a bunch of crappy deals this year. Very sad.

Just woke up from workin since 3am at BB, the line was long but not as long as in other places, I blame the shopper we put in the local ads, cause it wasn't as aggressive as walmart or sears. Great deals we had was the S299 3gig 160GB Laptop, Blu Ray Transfromer 10 bucks, all simpsons seasons $15 bucks each and I went crazy with the TV's cause we really didn't have any great deals in the shopper, so made em myself.

All I bought today was a newspaper. And a sandwich for lunch.

Glad I was not at this place today.

-------

VALLEY STREAM (WABC) -- A Wal-Mart employee died and four others were hurt in the Black Friday rush to get into the Valley Stream store this morning.

The injuries occurred as the shoppers crammed into the Wal-Mart when the doors opened at 5 a.m.

Police said the shoppers knocked the man to the ground at 5:03 a.m., three minutes after the store opened.

A 34-year-old Wal-Mart employee suffered an apparent heart attack and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death.

Four others were also hurt in the crush, including a 28-year-old pregnant woman. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors determined her baby was fine.

The store was closed to incoming shoppers following the incident. Those already inside were escorted out with their purchases.

The ensuing emergency activity clogged the Green Acres Mall parking lot.

Shoppers around the country lined up early outside stores Friday in the annual bargain hunting ritual known as Black Friday. It got that name because it's historically been the day when stores broke into profitability for the full year.

Nassau County police were at the scene investigating.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc., in Bentonville, Ark., would not confirm the reports of a stampede at the Valley Stream outlet but said a "medical emergency" had caused them to close the store.

"Local authorities are looking into the situation," said Wal-Mart representative Dan Fogleman. "Until such time that they've completed their assessment it would be inappropriate for me to share any additional information."

I bought my mom a new iPod on apple.com to replace the 4th gen hand-me-down that she'd been using. It was 11 bucks off regular price.

Other than that, there just wasn't anything in any of the ads that interested me. And I worked way too many Black Fridays when I was still in retail to ever brave those crowds if I don't have to.

Bought an external hard drive at amazon.com that they said was a special price. I have no idea if it's true thought.
I ended up going with a TB drive for $120. They said they were out at the moment that I ordered, but I'm going to guess that since they let me order anyway they expect more in pretty soon.

Wish i had registered yesterday.

Many retailers this yeah went live with black Friday online sales Weds. at midnight.

Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Sears/Kmart, Target, Toys r' Us, Amazon, just to name a few.

Of course it wasn't the same storewide price cuts that you'd get form going in person but there were some awesome deals nonetheless.

There didn't seem to be one 'big' item that I was after this year, but there were some decent deals on more practical gifts. After all, what's Christmas without socks in the stocking?

Best deals I snagged:
- a queen down-alternative comforter for $20 from Bon-Ton
- a HoMedics seat massager/heating pad thing for $30 from Sears
- a V-Tech phone/answering machine with 3 extra handsets from Best Buy ($60), since our answering machine died on Monday
- 2 pairs of men's dress pants and 2 men's dress shirts for $65, at Sears
- 8GB flash drives for $13 each, plus 50 DVD-R's for $10, at Staples
- Various clothing items at K-Mart, ranging from $3-16
- Cricut cartridges (scrapbooking things that are normally $80-100) - marked down to $38, $32 paid after coupon

I think I was most shocked at the overall lack of time spent waiting in line this year. Best Buy was the longest line, and that was half an hour. Don't know if that was because fewer people were out, or that the stores planned the lines more efficiently, but it was greatly appreciated.

Sing this special song. It's just for you.
Amazon tossed up a bunch of $1.99 DVDs and $10-$15 blueray and TV seasons.

Snagged a couple copies ($1.99!) of
TMNT
Spider-Man
Spider-Man 2
Wedding Crashers
Rocky Balboa

As well as Everwood Season 1 for $10.

The games were also nutso cheap so I got Monkey Ball (Wii, $10) and Hotel Dusk (DS, $15.)

I got 2 pairs of 110$ Rockport shoes for about 80$ total.

The rest of my shopping was done at a few art galleries which are immune to Black Friday deals.

Hello all! Back when Feely put out his Top 100 list around the beginning of the year, I thought about movies. Why couldn't the same thing be done for movies, with a less arbitrary system? So, I lazily concocted the Box Office Dominance System.
