Can anyone answer me some trivia...

Why did Hogan simply 'lay down' for Sting at Halloween Havoc 1999? Wasn't he in the red and yellow by then? What was the story behind this?

And also, why were Hogan and Warrior kept apart after their hugely profitable WM 6 match? Wouldn't a rematch have been good for the WWF bank (and been a better draw than Slaughter and Hogan)?

Can't answer the second one because I don't know, but the Havoc 1999 fiasco:

Vince Russo had JUST started booking. For weeks leading up to the show, Hogan "no showed" and on the one Nitro he was at, he stormed off angrily about something.

Meanwhile, online Vince Russo was constantly saying stuff like Hulk Hogan wouldn't like the new direction of WCW, and he'd have to accept their way, or get lost.

Leading up to Havoc, some stuff got "leaked" to the net that Hogan didn't agree with the Sting title match, and that the writers were "ready for anything", insinuating they had a backup plan if Hogan decided to "shoot".

Hogan came out, and lay down - which of course lead to the Goldberg thing, then the World Title tournament.

It was work that ultimately did nothing for anyone involved, and was never mentioned again.

It's also why everyone is skeptical with the Bash At The Beach 2000 "shoot" since it was more or less the exact same thing.

My guess would be an error in judgment my the WWF. They probably expected the Iraq vs America sentiment to draw much greater than it did.

Mean Gene: "You know, I don't think it's a question - Goldberg, I don't think it's a question of who's next, I think it's a question of who's left?"
Goldberg: "No, see, that's where you're wrong. It ain't who's left, it's - WHO'S NEXT?"

Now this is more or less a guess but I think that Hogan vs. Warrior didn't happen again because of Hellwig's attitude.
Warrior had a drug and attitude problems. Plus his infamous holding up Vince for more money before his matches. Leaving the belt on a coked out steroid freak wouldn't have been the best idea. Then there was the whole steroid trials afterward and Hogan leaving because he testified against Vince.

I just have 13 words for you. How much wood would a woodchuch chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Thanks guys.
I never understood Russo's need to work the net, because the reality is that it never spikes a decent rating. I still have always wondered why Hogan and Warrior were kept apart, and why Hogan even jobbed to someone who was an even poorer worker than himself, and had less depth. The Warrior, by that stage, had shown us everything he was ever going to. He was profoundly limited in the ring, and behind the microphone showed nothing more than a fetish for the dictionary, but little intelligence in terms of the structure of an interview. I still can't imagine why they put the strap on him. The booking of the Hogan/Warrior match was also very discreetly put together to make Hogan look weaker. If you recall the criss-cross they do in the match, where each man runs an adjecent set of ropes, and then one drops down, the other hops over him, the dropped man stands up and slams the runner. Hogan and Warrior did this, with Warrior getting up instantly and Hogan staying down to sell. Little things like that lay the subtext for Warrior being 'better' than Hulk, and personally I think Hulk's credibility was hurt when he came back because of it.
The title's value took a huge dip at that point...Warrior, Slaughter, Hogan for a brief spell, Undertaker, Hogan again, stripping the belt.

Another question, now. What went into that decision, the Undertaker title changes with Hogan in '91, leading to the strap being vacated and put up in the Rumble (which Flair won) the following January. Why would they vacate the belt just three years after doing the same thing (they vacated it in '88 with the Andre/Hogan/Dibiase thing, before it went to Savage).

I missed that part of the show Thursday night, but I just watched it along with Velocity and Confidential, which I recorded while I was out last night, and that was definitely about Derrick Thomas.
