Yeah, he only won a national title and a few SEC titles. Tennessee joins Clemson, Auburn, and Texas A+M on my "I hope they never win 10 games in a season again because their fans don't deserve it." list.

I'll just remind you, via my still lingering sour grapes, that he only won a national title because he got to face walk-on Marcus Outzen at QB instead of injured Chris Weinke. And even then he barely won.
To me he's always been over rated, but again I'm biased.

You're not wrong. They went undefeated and along the way beat 5 ranked teams (Syracuse, Florida, Georgia, Arkansas and Florida State). Also, Chris Weinke was injured but A) you would think the #2 team in the nation would have a capable back up and B) Weinke was like 43 years old and shouldn't have been playing anyway.
I do think it was time for Fullmer to go, because those 2 SEC titles were 10 years ago but it should have been a thank you for what you did but it's time to move on type thing.

FSU did have an incredible backup, But Kendra got hurt in the spring and was out for the year so they were stuck with Outzen. All I'm saying is the score was 23-16 and I would bet that had Weinke played, considering the following year they went undefeated and he won the Heisman, they likely score a bit more than 16 points and Fulmer wouldn't have been at UT as long as he has.

Aren't you the guy saying Nesbitt getting hurt in FSU's last game wasn't a big deal at all?

I was saying I thought they would come back even if he wasn't hurt, so no.

I've always thought that the 4th and 10 pass interference call against Syracuse was a phantom call. It's not like Fulmer took over a weak team. Tennessee was a solid team under Johnny Majors. They had won at least 9 games 5 of the last 7 full seasons that Majors coached. Past few years it seems that the Vols don't have the speed at the skill positions that they had the previous 15-20 years.

I don't know a ton about college recruiting outside the people my school signs, but I'd imagine historically dominant programs such as Tennessee are going to see less and less talent at skill positions because of the rise of so many FBS teams in Florida. Schools in Florida, Texas, California and maybe a couple other states have a pipeline obviously, but in the past the quality Florida recruits not signed by FSU, UF and Miami would go to some other SEC or ACC school.
Now, however, South Florida is taking some quality recruits for the first time in its brief history - they've already signed one player on ESPN's top-150 list for the first time, and are the favorites for a second. Obviously that's not groundbreaking on a list that sees USC with like eight commits, but it's two players who will be staying in Florida instead of heading elsewhere. For a team like Tennesse, which relies on national recruiting because it has so little local talent, that's a big deal.
UCF manages a top recruit here and there. Obviously FAU and FIU are not taking talent away from the Tennessees of the world right now, but FAU did win its conference last year (at 7-5...), so it's not totally inconceivable that those teams could compete for a few decent recruits. The BCS conference status remains a huge hurdle for these schools to overcome, but a good player here and there is bound to be attracted to the prospect of playing in Florida.
Well Spurrier says he's not going anywhere, and had fun taking one last dig at Fulmer while he could:
"He's probably 16, 17 years there, probably long enough. It wasn't working very well, so I think everybody understands when it starts going bad, they've gotta make changes," Spurrier told The State.
"But congratulate him on hitting that lottery ticket. That's a big ticket he got," Spurrier said.
As much as I dispised Spurrier when he was at UF for some reason he always makes me laugh now.
Well now that Ron Prince is out, speculation is saying that K-State is interested in Fulmer and that's why they didn't wait until the end of the season. Well, I guess he would be better than recycling Bill Snyder which is the other rumor. Snyder did an incredible job but his time here has passed.

Do you really think so? I know the team had one bad year but weren't they just Big 12 champs in 2003?

Snyder had run out of gas his last two years. They weren't bad but couldn't make a bowl. What he did from 1991 to 2003 was a remarkable job and makes him one of the best coaches of all time but he lost "it" and he knew it. In three years Prince is 16-18 and something like 5-10 in his last 15 games. He has almost no good recruits from the last two classes and little in the way of prospects.
It will take patience and a miracle for K-State to come back given the juggernaut that is the Big 12 South and fairly consistent programs like Mizzou and KU.
And good lord, you can't lose by 40 to you instate rival.

True Grossman has only played like 6 games, but that means we don't know that he's bad, we don't know yet and it's not like he's only played 6 games because he's been injured for 4 years. He's had one injury. Let the guy play this year and we'll see.
