Congrats to the Phily fans. Your team really earned that title. So now that the monkey's off the back, are you guys going to cool down and be nice or are you going to still boo santa and every non-fan that visits your home field (including us Met fans)? Eh, no matter what else, I'm happy that at least Jaime Moyer got his first ring finally after 22 years. There is literaly no one who has endured as much as he has to get here.

OMG, that Ryan Howard victory charge from first was the greatest thing ever.

I was impressed with the way the teams came out firing like there had not even been a break in the action. The Phillies came out hot, the Rays responded, then the Phillies responded - it was a great finish.

The Phillies' efficiency on the base paths continued into the postseason. I think they were 7 of 8 or 8 of 9, something like that. The Rays too - it always looked like the catchers had zero chance to throw anyone out. Davy Lopes and that stopwatch.

OMG, that Ryan Howard victory charge from first was the greatest thing ever.

I hope Lidge is OK after that. Howard is a big dude.

There was a World Series?

Seriously, I turned on the tube to watch the 9 pm news and it had just finished. I completely forgot it was on. They were showing EVERYONE'S victory charge. That was pretty cool.

Great game really. Good series overall with the exception of the blowout in Game 4. It was good to see the teams come right out and score some runs but I cannot help but feel like the Rays lost whatever momentum they might have been gaining when the tarp was pulled Monday night. Not that it's anyone's fault but still feel a little bad.

Now a winter of waiting...let's see how many games the M's lose in 09. I am betting on 90

BucsFan: I would think Lidge's nightmares probably took the form of Scott Podsednik more than Pujols.

Congrats to the Phils. That town needed a winner in something before they all went nuts! :)

Congrats Philly fans!

And no, spf, it was visions and nightmares of Pujols' epic still-going home run that haunted Lidge. I am absolutely shocked that Lidge didn't blow one save this year. That's insane.

Eh, giving up a huge HR to Albert Pujols in a game 6 situation where your team wins game 7 of the NLCS seems less nightmarish than giving up a walk-off HR in the World Series to a guy who didn't have a single HR the entire regular season.

Either way, Brad Lidge can put 2005 behind him.

What it is, though, is Pujols' home run was SO massive and came when Lidge thought he was in SUCH control that it completely destroyed Lidge's mental control to the point where he would give up a homer to someone who hadn't hit one all year.

Fair enough. I know in 2006 the Sox destroyed Lidge again late in a game. At that point I figured he was done as a closer.

Chase Utley: "World Champions! World fucking Champions!" (myfoxphilly.com)

Here's a YouTube link (youtube.com)

The look on Chase's face clearly says that this was a dare from his teammates after the deal at the All-Star game.

Dare or not, it was an appropriate reaction to me and I loved it...I've been saying that exact same thing to myself and friends for two days now. But it was clearly not appropriate to say in front of thousands of children. My question to parents here is: what would you have done if you were there with your young ones?

While I'm not a parent, I'd hope that I'd be enough of a responsible parent to say to little whoever "Nope, not something you should say in front of a huge group of people".

I fear though, my first response would be "Shit, they did it!" Which, come to think of it, I DID say numerous times after the Super Bowl, though my comments were never carried on national television.

It DOES flow nicely into a discussion about chasing your dreams and sticking to it, getting rewarded at the end.

I wonder how many people in Philly are upset that "Meet the Sixers: 2008-2009" was pre-empted.

Personally, I would file that under "random F-bomb that need not be addressed".

No way. Lidge was a wreck in 2006 after Pujols emasculated him on national television in the 2005 playoffs. Sure, Houston won the series, but Lidge didn't recover until this year. Pujols owned him in 2006, too. I think he had three game-winning hits off him that year.

Rumor has it, it wasn't until Lidge stopped wearing his Albert Pujols pajamas to bed back in April that he turned things around.

I WAS there with my kid. We laughed.

This is Philly. We're used to it. ECf'nW, remember?

He knows I don't want HIM saying it. But hearing it? That's Standard Operating Procedure around here.

They cut it out of the replay on Philly57 today though.

If I were Halladay I'd have refused to pitch in that hideous thing. I think the number and font on the back of the Jays' jersey is TONS worse than the whole Pads' uniform.
