And Game 1 goes to the Phillies. W: Cole Hamels, L: Scott Kasmir, S: Brad Lidge. HR: C. Utley, C.Crawford.

In four starts this postseason, Hamels is a perfect 4-0 with a 1.55 ERA and is just the fourth pitcher in history to win four games in four postseason starts.

Those waiting for Ryan Howard to come alive: 0 for 4, 3k, 4 LOB. Still waiting...

It blows my mind that Brad Lidge (BRAD LIDGE!!!) has yet to blow a single save in the regular and postseason. Definitely not the same guy that let Albert Pujols completely shatter his psyche.

I love stuff like this:

In the All-Star Game, Scott Kazmir was the winning pitcher and Brad Lidge was the losing pitcher, giving the AL home field advantage.

And last night, Scott Kazmir was the losing pitcher and Brad Lidge got the save that erased home field advantage.

Game 2: Rays. Series: 1-1. W: J. Shields, L: B. Meyers. HR: E. Bruntlett.

The Phillies continue to struggle in the clutch, now 1 for 28 with RISP.

Sending Cliff Floyd on the squeeze was a surprise.

Having McCarver spend 13 minutes explaining the difference between a safety squeeze and a suicide squeeze? Not so much.

Phillies win game 3, now lesd 2-1. W: J.C. Romero, L: J.P. Howell. HR: Ruiz, Utley, Howard.

Wacky, wacky 9th to end it ( I read about it, the rain delay caused me to fall asleep early ).

Jamie Moyer, at 45, became the second-oldest player in Series history.

You have to like the Phils chances to close it out with Hamels on the mound tonight. I'll just be glad the NL team won.

I can't see how Philly doesn't win it all now barring a hilarious collapse.

Ryan Howard the last two games: 4 for 8, 3 HR, 6 RBI, 3 R, BB.

Tampa's 3 & 4 hitters: 0-for-29 with 15 strikeouts in the Series.

Advice not to get from ARod: marriage, post-season hitting.

This is ricoculous. Baseball should not have let the game get to this point. It's completely unfair to the Rays to have to play in these conditions.

As I'm typing this, the Rays have just tied it. If they have a lick of sense, they'll call it right now while they can suspend it rather than have the potentially deciding game of the World Series either played under terrible conditions or ended in mid-game.

Why does the "after five innings, it's an official game" rule apply in the WS? It's one thing to have a regular season game that's only six innings count, but for a World Series game, they really ought to suspend it and play it another day.

They let the inning end. Unbelievable. Even the Fox announcers have been criticizing them for playing (while, of course, not acknowledging that it's undoubtedly Fox' influence causing them to play). Hope they call it now and finish it tomorrow.

I didn't know this, but apparenly a rule change in 2007 would have allowed this game to be decided had the Rays not scored to tie it. How anti-climactic would that have been? There really should never be a shorted game in the playoffs under weather-related circumstances.

Selig has been pretty clear that, had the suspension happened with the Phillies up 2-1, that would NOT have meant that the Series was over. I don't know if that was ever formalized or if this falls into the catchall of "Commissioners Discretion", but he was pretty clear that there would be at least 9 innings of baseball, regardless of how long they had to wait the weather out.

Now, the $64,000 question is, is this discussion happening if the score was 9-0 Philadelphia.

And now, the game will not resume tonight either. They say rain, I think it's because tonight's House is too important.

Tentative restart time is 8:37 ET on Wednesday. No idea what this would mean for a Game 6.

I'm thinking Major League Baseball has to be a little irked at the Dodgers for blowing it in the NLCS. Late October weather isn't a factor when you're going back and forth between a dome and Southern California. Also, in that scenario no one would be talking about how poorly designed the postseason schedule is.

Well, this'll give FOX an out for airing the Obama prime time buy, at least.

Maybe not. It's an 8:37 start because Obama's going from 8-8:30. This was the plan back when Wednesday would've been Game 6.

I don't know about Game 6, but if the WS keeps getting pushed back over bad weather, it might mean the Phils can trot out Cole Hamels again for Game 7. He did only throw 75 pitches. I wouldn't rule it out.

Guess they don't have to worry about that now.

Dammit, I like these teams. It was a fresh matchup and I wanted it to go seven games.
