Yeah! As long as the job involves "just fuckin' chillin'" he should excel!

Even better, according to The LA Times McCain's campaign basically just GOOGLED HER!

I think the local cafe my newly retired Mother just started working at did more digging before they hired her.

I hope the father doesn't marry her just so I can hear someone say "My Baby Mama's Mama is the Vice President"!

(God I hope Obama wins).

And here's McCain's response (corner.nationalreview.com) as filtered through NRO.

Mr. Boffo, your post about Sarah not really being her baby's mother is interesting...but if we're supposed to believe that Bristol is the mother, there's the little problem that she would have had to get pregnant with the one she's carrying now *before* she gave birth to Trig, and that just don't happen. So unless there's a greater deception going on, or Sarah was covering up for someone else's pregnancy, then I think we have to discount that. In fact, what I heard was that they disclosed Bristol's pregnancy precisely in order to quash the story that Trig was Bristol's child. Still, one does wonder why SP was so casual about her pregnancy.

In any event, it's a really sad commentary on today's political realities that there's a website called bristolpalinpregnant.com.

As for the Alaska Independence Party story, it seems that in fact Palin's *husband* was a member. Dan Savage's blog has a post making the point that if it had come out that Michelle Obama had once belonged to an organization that wanted to seceed from the USA, the shitstorm would have been huge.

I would hope before accepting the VP nomination, Palin discussed it with her family and made sure they were OK with the inevitable scrutiny that would come with such a decision.

Making that assumption, the daughter had to have some inkling that this would come up - if her mother didn't advocate denying girls such as her own daughter access to information on birth control, it wouldn't really be an issue, but the fact his her mother does so it's news. The daughter (and mother) HAD to know this was coming well before the decision was made that the elder would run for the vice presidency.

I feel worse for the people - like Palin's daughter - who are denied access to crucial, basic sex education - thanks to people like Palin's daughter's mother - for absolutely no good reason.

and I also believe they will get married. I also would guess it won't happen until after the baby is born. That is, today, what I have seen after children have made errors in judgment in Christian communities and got pregnant - the baby is born, the children grown a bit more (because, they are clearly both still children), and then marry.

It's always tricky when kids make babies.

It is tricky and I hope you are correct. Unfortunately, when marriage occurs under these circumstances and at her age, it seldom ends well, Christian or not.

I also agree this is alot for a 17 yo to deal with but her mother certainly knew what would happen and the scrutiny. I hope for the families sake this all goes away.

I actually from a personal perspective wonder how the baby with Downes Syndrome will fare if she is elected. But that is a family matter, not national political fodder.

My favorite was "Two conservative commentators on MSNBC" as the title. As if anyone on MSNBC is actually conservative. Conservative compared to Olbermann, I guess.

Careful, Doc - don't be one of those guys who seem to think only liberal women are allowed to be equal and have the same jobs as men. Dems (and for that matter, all rightminded people) have been fighting for equal rights for women for years. And it applies, but apparently, only if your name is Hillary or something. Girl's got a passel of kids - she knows how to take care of 'em.

This isn't an equal rights issue and I wouldn't care who it is male or female. For Libs or Cons, family should come first. One of the great myths IMHO is that we can have it all. My wife and I have both sacrificed many things for our daughter and that is the way it should be. Equal rights doesn't abrogate our duty to the children we create.

If elected, I hope she is up to the task.

Your word, I will take for this, Zed. I must admit, MSNBC is set to skip at my house. I get plenty of that viewpoint on other stations.

Of course, there are disagreements about vice presidential choices - bet we could have had some really nasty ones if we had discovered an open mike after Biden was chosen at the Katie Couric desk or whatziz name, Clinton's press secretary.

The "betting on whether the daughter and the guy will get married" thing is more than a little sick, if you ask me.

In any event, I liked Obama's reaction to the whole thing-- "The candidates' families are to be off-limits in this campaign."

Yeah, he just sics Norah O'Donell on them She lives in his camp anyway

Norah O'Donnell has 1 1/2 year-old twins -- and a 1-month old. Meanwhile, her husband owns three restaurants -- and she is in Minnesota covering a political convention for a week!

Who's watching her kids during this presidential race this year?

Someone didn't give Kellyanne Conway that memo. No clue when it'll be up, but here's the page (onpointradio.org) for the segment of "On Point" where she just blew her entire foot off. As much as she said "let's talk about the issues" in regards to Gov. Palin, she sure seemed to do everything but that, playing the entire deck of victim cards when it comes to Bristol Palin and oh, this wouldn't happen if Gov. Palin was a MAAAAAAN.

If you want to guide the discussion to the issues, it'd be a good idea to bring up the issues, at least beyond using the phrase "that abortion nonsense" in reference to her pro-life stance. If I was on the fence, the Republicans and conservative commentators, at least so far, have done a REALLY bad job of selling me on the McCain/Palin ticket.

Am I the only one on the board that likes Olbermann? He clearly isn't for everybody and I would never try to convince someone who 'despises' him to like him, but I enjoy his coverage/slant/angle whatever you want to call it. Then again I'm also starting to really enjoy Rachael Maddow, and I'm sure that will make a few peoples head spin.

As for Palin, why is the press being called sexist and bullies for wanting to know more about her? For wanting to ask her question directly? Obviously she is being brought up to speed on a lot of issues, and yes her son is deploying for Iraq this weekend which even I am willing to cut some slack for ... but come on. This is a person who is stepping on the playing field to be Vice President of the United States, she's going to be a 72 year old's heartbeat away from the top seat in the country. I think we are entitled to know more about her than she shot a winning free throw and hunts for moose.

Also if I hear her use the line about being a mayor of a small town is different that community organizer, because there is 'actual responsibility' again I might puke. I hate the fact that she is getting a free pass. I hate that she has been allowed so far to be the doe eyed beauty who is allowed to have the tongue of a snake.

This election has been dragging on for what seems like forever, but we are only 60 days away now. Simply being a pretty face, who is anti abortion and delivered one well timed speech might be enough for some people. It's quite possible the Republicans are trying to figure out what they have here, bhe longer she is kept under wraps the longer a suspisious person like myself thinks suspisous thoughts.

I also enjoy watching Keith Olbermann on MSNBC; but I also enjoy watching Bill O'Reilly on Fox News. While both men are incredibly full of themselves, and they each spew enough manure in a week to fertilize all of Central Park, I consider both men to be extremely intelligent, and I find their respective television programs to be consistently entertaining and insightful.
