At least this year they lost to a Division One school.
“How is it that I am a good actor? What I do is I... pretend to be the person I’m portraying. You’re confused. Case in point: in Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson comes to me and says ‘I would like you to be Gandalf the Wizard,’ and I said ‘You are aware that I am not really a wizard?’ and Peter Jackson said ‘I would like you to use your acting skills to portray a wizard for the duration of the show.’ So I said ‘Okay’ and then I said to myself ‘Mmm.. How do I do that?’ And this is what I did: I imagined that I was a wizard, and then I pretended, and acted, in that way on the stage. How did I know what to say? The words were written down for me in a script. How did I know where to stand? People told me where to stand." -- Sir Ian McKellen, Extras
Last year was a shocker. This year it was almost expected with the best offensive players gone and the entire offensive system changed. 2 game losing streak for Rodriguez going back to the Pitt game last season. Speaking of Pitt. I guess it really can be seen that it was more West Virginia playing poorly in the finale last season rather than the genius of Wannestadt. Special teams knocks off Va. Tech. That might be one of the great rarities in college football. Does Skip Holtz's East Carolina team now become a dark horse team this year for the Orange Bowl? The schedule is starting to look more and more conducive to a run to the Coliseum in late November.

Michigan being ranked is a crime.

Well you would have thought so, but I recall Boromir telling us that only Michigan haters or those who knew nothing about college football would expect Michigan to lose that game.
And while seeing Virginia Tech lose was hardly a shocker, it was surprising just how badly Clemson got whupped. I mean I knew they were really overrated by the media coming in, but I didn't realize Bama would be that improved. Clemson's vaunted tailback tandem sure gets completely shut down on a regular basis. I've heard tons about Julio Jones this year and he lived up to the billing.
Was scared to death for Maclin and Mizzou when he was carted off. Hopefully he's really ok. Their defense could use a bit of work again.
Just LOVE these quotes: Why? I'll explain while also defending Michigan's position (which, look at the teams under 24. If you truly think Michigan would lose to Fresno State, you need to start following another sport.) I'm going to go over each game on Michigan's schedule and mark it as "Win", "Loss", or "Toss-Up" along with a little blurb explaining why:
Utah - Win. Utah's team is NOT the Utah of Urban Meyer. Those yelling about Michigan losing it's opener once again are either those ignorant of the sport, or those who WANT Michigan to lose its opener (Buckeye fans, etc). The uncertainties are on offense, NOT defense and Utah won't be able to do much.
Fresno State's a nice little team. But they have trouble just beating Boise in their own conference, let alone tackling powers from power conferences.
The Clemson game surprised me. They were just dominated. This won't go down in history as one of the great days in the history of the ACC, with Virginia humiliated, Tech losing and Clemson getting pummelled out of the Top 10. Off the radar slightly: Arkansas State 18 Texas A@M 14 When do the boosters start trying to buy Sherman out of his contract?
arkansas state almost beat Texas last year. That is not a team I would want on my schedule. But yes, the A&M fans at work are in for a tough time next week.
I had a feeling FSU could contend for an ACC title this year. Feel better about their chances now, provided Tech sticks with Glennon.

Juice carved them up in the air in the second half, but Missouri took the option away early.
Missou will not need Maclin for three weeks, so he's got plenty of time to recover.

I hope wherever Curtis Pulley (http://www.wkyt.com/home/headlines/26279029.html) is that he's getting more enjoyment out of that doobie than he could piloting what might have been a decent UK offense partnered up with what looks to be a very good UK defense this year. I realize it was against Louisville who might or might not turn out to be much of anything on offense this year, but the "D" certainly appears to be SEC ready at the moment. Maybe the offense will catch up and maybe the defense will regress but it would certainly look easier getting to at least a 3rd Music City Bowl in a row with him than without him.

But how did Fresno end up on Wisconsin's schedule? Doesn't that go against every cupcake principle the Badgers have? If not for a phantom interfernce call on Syracuse on 4th and 10 in the season opening game for Tee Martin's team, Fulmer would have been gone years ago. How do you get beat by a 3rd team QB who throws 4 picks in the 1st half?

Originally posted by me after the RichRod hiringLloyd, you have a new protege. From an initial evaluation, this hire sucks. We're already beginning to regret the last West Virginia coach we pilfered. Yippee..... Maybe it'll turn out well. My initial thought, though, is that I'll be reading headlines after a 3-4 start to next season about how it's going to take a few years to transition to Rodriguez's new offense. I saw that in the Nebraska papers after Callahan brought the West Coast there, too.

That's funny because *I* do expect one. So you can pretty much take humility and shove it up your pompous ass.

I still don't expect a losing season from them this year.
Then why don't you try aiming your false comments at the individual fans that need to be "humble" rather than also at a fan who has an even more "humble" outlook on Michigan's season this year than the idiot who wrote the comment, k? Thanks.

Really they won't need Mac for 4 weeks, as they have a bye before they travel to play Nebraska, but most likely he'll sit next week and be good to go against Nevada.
I was at the game in St. Louis too, and really thought the front 7 played great, they stuffed the run and sacked or hurried Juice all game. Hell, they forced 8 punts in the game. Unfortunately, the secondary just got absolutely torched. Any quarterback would have piled up yards as open as Illinois recievers were getting. Hell, Juice even missed a couple more gimmes. Pinkel and company better be working like mad to fix the coverage problems.

And here I thought this was college football, where razzing was not only common, but fully expected.
Take your attitude elsewhere, I got Gator fans mocking me over online music tests to deal with. :)
I'll grant you the Offense needs to stay together point, but I'm sure most of the fans will give up one game of the starters for winning the Super Bowl. This is especially true in the Eagles case.
