World Wrestling Entertainment has come to terms on the release of ECW Superstar Stevie Richards, Raw tag team Robbie & Rory ofThe Highlanders, and WWE referee Wes Adams as of Aug. 15, 2008. WWE wishes them the best in all their future endeavors.
I could have sworn the Highlanders were fired at least 3 times in the past 2 years, but Stevie? That hurts me. I was hoping he would be Adamle's replacement on ECW.

He was still employed?
Raw tag team Robbie & Rory ofThe Highlanders,
That's what you get for losing to crime time. You're either the #1 contenders to the tag team titles... or you're fired. Makes you wonder why they bothered to keep rory on contract through his injury, then fire him as soon as he's healthy.

Ouch, you must have pissed off someone to get fired from being a Ref.

They were being nice? I think they've been healthy and were on HEAT back when it existed. It seemed like WWE was using them for one last job on Monday and I guess they were!

I thought they've fired a half dozen wrestlers while they were injured. I'm almost positive they did it with Test. Perhaps they've had a change of heart, but I doubt it. More likely Rory had a better contract than Test did I'm guessing...
I hated Right To Censor Stevie back in the day, but I was a big Hardyz mark then. I didn't realize how good an annoying heel he was. He was a good lackey heel with Raven in ECW and I loved him with Victoria. I always hoped they would reunite again someday and wear the matching pink outfits. Guess I'll look up old ecw promos of his now.
Stevie was a fantastic annoying heel, I'll miss him.

Add Smackdown Diva "Cherry" to the list. WWE has updated it:

I assume Stevie is still fairly young, and would be a decent mid card guy for TNA. WWE never used him to his abilities, other than Right to Censor, and that had a limited shelf life. I never understood why they couldn't form a tag team with him, and any one of the other half dozen guys they were wasting. I mean, he is no more or less generic than Hawkins & Ryder.

I think Colin, Cherry, and Stevie are surprise releases.
Colin was getting a bit of a push on ECW.
Cherry was getting a bit of a push on Smackdown as part of their new womens division. There's a real lack of babyface women right now, I believe. Why not fire Maryse instead?
Stevie has dodged being released for so long that it became a running joke, and I figured he was one of those guys that had a job for life. Oh well.
Stevie Richards was in WWE since 1999. That's nine years of steady employment. I like him too and think he's really talented but that's one of the best runs out of the current roster.
Now we can wait for Val Venis to have his name show up.

Well, maybe not "best" runs. Maybe "longest runs" would be more appropriate. I like him too, especially after watching his ECW run on 24/7 the last few years. coincidently, he is now on Nitro, circa 1997, and they didn't do shit with him either.

where he lost every match! When you're losing a feud to Tommy Dreamer in 2008 WWE, you're probably already informally discussing the plans for your big return to CHIKARA.
Seeing as Colin was only supposed to be a job guy for one night, he did unbelievably well.
