Originally from the Chicago Sun-Times thru AP:
"CHICAGO — Many Chicago Bears fans are roaring mad about the team management’s new restrictions on a favorite fan activity — tailgating during the games at the parking lots outside Soldier Field.

For years, countless fans have shunned the stadium to watch the games on television in the parking lots, where they often enjoy a food and cocktail spread that rivals any restaurant buffet,

But under a new policy that starts with the team’s first exhibition game Thursday night against the Kansas City Chiefs, fans will no longer be able to remain in the parking lots during the games. Once the game starts, fans will have to cease tailgating.

In an e-mail sent to season ticket holders Tuesday, the Bears said the move is part of a crackdown on unruly behavior."

The Bears love their fan.

What a bunch of crap. Unruly behavior? At a pro football game? What's next? Requiring a shirt to get into the game?

Sheesh.

Apparently, eating food and drinking beverages brought from home rather than purchasing the over-priced fare sold at the stadium = unruly behavior.

Welcome home, men of the 2nd Bn, 127th Inf, 32d "Red Arrow" Brigade, WI Army Nat'l Guard! Good luck to those down south.

Yet another problem you'd never, ever have in Green Bay...outlawing tailgating.

The Favre mess'd be nothing compared to the riots that'd spark off.

This is just after the game starts - they aren't banning tailgating altogether.

People will buy parking passes so they can tailgate during the games...happens at Miller Park all the time.

Just another example of how the Chicago Bears management secretly hates the goobers who follow them. Didn't their fans get it when they refused to get an NFL-calibre QB before the season started? THEY DO NOT WANT YOU! Come to the lure of Lambeau!

I don't really think if you are going to judge a franchise on listening to its fans about their QB situation you should try to use Green Bay as your example of what to do.

They are discussing banning alcohol at The Q for Chargers' games for the same reason. The San Diego City Council figures if a booze ban works at the beach, it will work at The Q.

This is true, their last one really sucked. Oh wait...

BTW Bears fans....#1 draft pick Chris Williams to have surgery for a herniated disk. The reason some teams took him off their draft board...health concerns.

And, with the loss of revenue from alcohol purchased in the stadium, it will work the Chargers right up the coast to L.A.

I saw on my local news today this is happening at every NFL stadium as part of the Commish's new "Fan Code of Conduct Policy". It cracks down on tailgating as well. There was a article of NFL.Com a while back, but here I found this,

Banning it at the stadium completely or banning it in the parking lot?

I dunno, I thought there would be a lot more uproar about the lack of tailgating opportunities at Petco too. (There's only one lot that allows it, and it costs extra about 3x more if I remember) That isn't to say there wasn't griping, but some people took to tailgating at the Q and then taking the trolley in, or went to a downtown restaurant instead and it doesn't seem to have hurt anything.

The UT breaks it down neatly...

Not quite a ban, and, of course, there is the traditional halting of beer sales after the first half of the Raider game. 15 arrests a game doesn't sound like much, but a ton of those happen at the Raider game.

I don't mind not being able to tailgate at PETCO so much. We just walk a couple of blocks from the Convention Centre, hit Randy Jones' BBQ place in center field, and watch batting practice from the batters eye.

That's not that bad. I can't say that I miss living a few blocks from the Q, especially not during Raider's games. It was really annoying to walk to 7-11 for something and find people doing all sorts of dumb drunk things in the bushes. Apparently alcohol makes people think that 1 1/2 foot scraggly bushes are good cover.

I'm hoping for the Sox season to go long enough to just ease into the Blackhawks season. This whole Bears thing is just not looking good this year.

We were booted out of Safeco for getting mad at starting 1st baseman Miguel Cario for dribbling a ball for a third out with runners on when losing 0-9. No profanity, nothing offensive just yelling and heckling at a bad team playing a bad game. I know Seattle is a little sensitive, but we would have been one of the tamer band of idiots if we were in Fenway or Yankee Stadium.

I know you can get away with more at a football game, but I've noticed a scary trend where if you aren't cheering when the Jumbo Tron tells you to you should probably just shut up and watch the game ... having an annoying conversation that has nothing to do with anything in the stadium seems to be okay as well.

Eh, they've already got your money, what do they care?

I know I'm in the minority, but I wouldn't mind if every sport had the same rules that golf and tennis do re: noise. I was in the bleachers at a Brewers game where a guy kept yelling things at Astros RF Hunter Pence. I doubt Pence could even hear the guy, but it sure took away from my enjoyment of the game.

Referees aside, think about this game. Every kick was made, only 1 turnover in the game. In the conditions they were playing in how remarkable is that? Lance's Response: THAT IS AWESOME!
