I'm two weeks late on this, but I finally saw it today, and if there's anyone who is somehow unaware of its existence, they need to check it out as well. And I didn't see a thread in either Movies & TV or in Internet & Computers, so...

The story. Joss Whedon, creator of TV shows beloved by nerds ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "Firefly", "Angel", and the upcoming "Dollhouse"), decides he's going to create a show or movie or whatever you want to call it that airs on the internet. The idea he comes up with is called "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" which is basically the video diaries of a would-be supervillian who calls himself Dr. Horrible, and his attempted admittance into the Evil League of Evil. And he's played by Neil Patrick Harris. And it's a musical. It also stars Nathan Fillion (the captain on "Firefly") as his nemesis Captain Hammer, and Simon Helberg (of "The Big Bang Theory") as Horrible's friend "Moist", whose power is self explantaory. And also Felicia Day, a woman I'm not familiar with, as Horrible's love interest.

It is awesome, and as I say, if you haven't seen it yet, you should. It's on hulu, at http://www.hulu.com/watch/28343/dr-horribles-sing-along-blog , or you can buy it on iTunes, or eventually you'll be able to buy it on DVD (with extras such as the cast singing out their commentary. Seriously). The 3 acts are only 42 minutes long. Check it out.

P.S. The hammer is my penis.

Allegedly there's a DVD coming at some point with a 4th Act. Given the sudden shift at the end of Act 3, I'm intrigued where it will go.

Fillion plays such a good jackass.

I want to join the Evil League of Evil.

Interviews I read with Joss claim the story's over. Can you link to news about an Act IV?

I was enjoying this thing right up to Act III. Then I was reminded rather forcefully that Joss Whedon, who hates joy and love and thinks they're boring, was writing the thing. The plot arc DOES make logical sense and as a writer I can get why it went the way it did, but as someone who just wanted to sit down and be entertained it was a pretty fierce punch to the gut and soured me on the whole experience. Maybe if the overall tone of the show was a bit darker, the ending wouldn't have felt like a bait and switch.

I enjoyed the jokes and the music and the whole thing right up until I decided I never wanted to watch it again, at least.

Even the 'dark' ending was still pretty goofy.

We see a crying Captain Hammer on the psych couch, we see the various silly members of the ELOE including Bad Horse, who's an actual horse.

“How is it that I am a good actor? What I do is I... pretend to be the person I’m portraying. You’re confused. Case in point: in Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson comes to me and says ‘I would like you to be Gandalf the Wizard,’ and I said ‘You are aware that I am not really a wizard?’ and Peter Jackson said ‘I would like you to use your acting skills to portray a wizard for the duration of the show.’ So I said ‘Okay’ and then I said to myself ‘Mmm.. How do I do that?’ And this is what I did: I imagined that I was a wizard, and then I pretended, and acted, in that way on the stage. How did I know what to say? The words were written down for me in a script. How did I know where to stand? People told me where to stand." -- Sir Ian McKellen, Extras

If you are familiar with Buffy Season 7, then you'll recognize her as one of the Potentials. Recently, she's been producing her own webseries called The Guild, which is about gamers playing World of Warcraft.

Dr. Horrible is awesome and I can't wait for future installments. I hear Hulu has made the HD version available to watch now.

I want to be Fake Thomas Jefferson.

I found it in zap2it's Comic-con coverage (blog.zap2it.com)

And Googling just now revealed this video (youtube.com) of the panel.

Regarding the ending

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
I was referring to the very sudden cut at the end from a triumphant Dr. Horrible to him sitting in his basement at the camera very briefly. I'm quite familiar with Joss and his version of 'romance', but that cut at the end was jarring and seems to imply all is not resolved.
