Why would Vince bring in Hogan? I can see Hall and Nash. The Outsiders will get a pop and I can see them being a team to actually get people excited about the WWF again.
But Hogan? On no level is this a good idea. Did Vince forget about

signs that used to populate WCW and WWF areans? I feel for Flair in all this. Flair is getting his last WWF run and here is Hogan to take the glory. Maybe UT will tombstone Hogan again on a steel chair. That would be cool. The only way I would support this is if Hogan is there to take a: Rock Bottom, Stunner, Last Ride, Spinerooni, Fam-Asser, Clothesline from Hell, 3D, and any other finisher all in succession and sent back to Thunder in Paradise.
I just do not look forward to Hogan if this is true.
January 4th 1999 - The day WCW injected itself with 10 gallons of Liquid Anthrax...AKA...The day Hogan "Defeated" Nash to win the WCW title in front of 40,000.
If Hogan is brought back it would have to be in a non-wrestling role (or maybe in Flair-like role of wrestling Vince once or twice). It just wouldn't fit in with the WWF format. Hogan simply can't put on a credible 5-10 minute match once a week and a 20-30 minute match once a month, which is expected from WWF main eventers. Vince isn't going to rework his entire show around Hogan.

"Excuse me, do you have any EuroDisney T-Shirts?" January 2nd, 2002. Paris, France. My proudest moment.
From Wrestling Observer:Word got around the locker room that Vince McMahon told the production people at the meeting that Hogan, Hall and Nash are all in. The morale was really bad upon hearing the news. A lot of sentiment about the feeling that the guys there are being slapped in the face by this one. Most of the front office was strongly against the move. This is certainly not going to be a year short for news.
Damn, they're not even there yet and they're already causing problems!
"A lot of guys on this team have a lot of bark, but no bite. Guys have to just shut up and play." -- WR Keyshawn Johnson, following the playoff loss to Philadelphia
If you listen closely, you can hear CRZ typing up the winner for Most Dissapointing News Item in the 2002 RSPW Awards.
This is just... ugh.
Here's an idea for the split: Austin, Rock, H, Jericho, Angle, RVD, Booker, Edge, Tajiri, Christian, Storm, Hurricane, Benoit, Rhyno, Kanyon, O'Haire, Lesnar, D-Lo, Val, and 10 or so old WCW cruisers. This crew gets Raw and Smackdown.
Every washed up fuck and just plain suck asses can have HeAT and Excess. If we're being asked to watch even MORE run-ins, even longer and more boring interviews than we get now, and Nash, half of Hall, and probably even Hogan "wrestling", then I don't think it's terribly unfair to ask the WWF to keep that shit in places that people who've supported them lately don't particularly care about.
At least there won't be much time left for Triple H bitching in the foreseeable future.
I really hate this news...I am just thinking about the "Brother" promos, the terrible acting, the bald head, the fake beard. This is going to be bad, very bad. I can see no role for him. Not as a manager, a owner, a anything. I hated him in WCW, I will hate him now in the WWF. He got that "Ohh it's him!" pop. But after the entrance, it was Sucksville. I would rather see Eric B. than Hogan.

Bischoff showing up during the InVasiOn aNgLe actually would have been very interesting. Hogan showing up anywhere on the WWF for any angle has little to no chance of being interesting.
I'd have Hogan, Hall and Nash come out and run through a couple of midcarders. Call themselves the nWo. Say they're taking over.
And have the entire WWF locker room come out to “welcome them to the World Wrestling Federation”. I'm already deep in the process of thinking up ingenius things to do to Hogan. Heh heh heh...
It'd be interesting to have Austin come out, Stunner all three men, and then just leave without saying a word. Then The Rock could come out and hit the People's Elbow.
Then along come the new Four Horsemen-- Chris Benoit, Ric Flair, Lance Storm and Arn Anderson. And they all go to town on the nWo-- Flair hitting massive chops on Hall before Arn Anderson spinebusters him. Storm could put the Maple Leaf on Nash, while Benoit put the Crippler Crossface on Hogan.
Oh, yes... to see Hogan tap out to the Crippler Crossface would make me mark out like a twelve-year-old schoolgirl at a Britney Spears concert.
I'd mark out just as much watching Nash submit to Lance Storm's Maple Leaf. And to even see Arn Anderson in the ring would make me go crazy (in a good way, 'natch).
And that, as they say, is that.
“Bow-wow-wow, yippee-yo-yippee-yay, Oil of Olay all day, every day!”
A conversation between Satan and Vince McMahon (insert your own joke about them being the same person)...
(Satan) - "Say Vince, do you remember when you had double, maybe triple the ratings of WCW programming, and they brought back Nash, Hall, and Hogan, and it didn't help one little bit?"
(Vince) - "Sure I remember that."
(Satan) - "You should try that."
(Vince) - "Yes. I should."
Okay so that was short and highly uncreative, but so will be the WWF, and this is how little sense it makes.
This whole thing about a split, this whole thing about these guys coming back...I would love nothing more than to find Scherer reporting tomorrow that "The WWF was swerving us all along and none of it is true whatsoever".
I know a guy who is involved heavily in local independent shows and who produces a wrestling radio show locally called "Saturday Night Slam", and when WCW was purchased, he was bemoaning about how everything was going to go into the toilet. He saw all of this coming. I said "Vince has been through this before, he's not stupid enough to let it happen again." Boy was I wrong. I couldn't have possibly dreamed how wrong I was.
So, it's finally happened (we think). The Three Stooges make their way back to The Fed (we think).
But worry not. This could be the greatest thing in Fed history.
How, you ask? Sit back and let The Brew tell you.
I see two good scenarios and one bad scenario:
Good Scenario 1: Hogan, Hall, and Nash work their butts off, job to who they're told to job to, and make a good show even better with the talent which they still possess.
Good Scenario 2: Hogan, Hall, and Nash half-ass it, last about a month, then are unceremoneously sent The Way Of The KroniK, sending the ULTIMATE message: If you half-ass it, you're GONE - even if your name is Hogan, Hall, or Nash.
Bad Scenario: Hogan, Hall and Nash half-ass it and the front office lets them get away with it. I don't think this will happen (I sure as hell HOPE not!), but if it does - very, very bad things will happen. It's a big risk on the part of the Fed. Plus, there goes a lot of screen time for up-and-coming performers; that's never good.
It's also a shame that these three guys are coming in now that were way past InVasion. Imagine that main event at InVastion being something like Austin, Angle, Rock, Undertaker, and Kane vs. Hogan, Hall, Nash, Booker T, and RVD - I have no idea how good the match would have been, but I wonder if everybody would have bought into the storyline a lot more....just a thought.
Booker T. RVD. Lance Storm. Taz(z). Spike Dudley. Rhyno. Chris Jericho. Chris Beniot. Paul Heyman.
If this is a worse case scenario (as in the past repeating itself), these men who are on the rise (or already risen) will be ones who suffer. And I'm not looking forward to it.
"The ability to think does not make one intelligent".
OK, truth be told, I'm fucking digging this. I've always liked the Outsiders, and Hogan is ok in small doeses. This isn't as bad as Russo being hired back as head writer. Don't forget Vince's top draw Austin had heat with Hogan over him being fired from WCW. It's all checks and balances. Even now, I think part of the reason Foley left is because Flair was coming in. Nash and Hall may have a strong ally in HHH, but I think HHH is smart enough not to put his ass on the line for his friends anymore. He is too career-minded now.
I live in Japan, and I've caught a few Hall matches on TV. Usually tagging with someone, but I noticed he looked like he was having a good time. Something he stopped doing in WCW. But before he left WCW he was busting his ass, well before he got "injured".
As far as Hogan jobbing to Crash, Spike, etc... thats not the way you do a veteran, no matter how much of an asshole you think he is. The people will go ape shit the first time the NWO come out. It will be up to writers, if they can keep us popping for them.
Bah. I'm unhappy about Hogan coming back because he's associated with the old WWF early 90s wrestling in the minds of many, and will embarrass me if I ever have a conversation with a non-wrestling fan.
Nash I could live with..Hall and Nash could be fun to a point... Hogan? My gawd...why?! What happened to Vince? He might be an ego, but he was never this stupid. Let's all hope we are being ribbed here and the Big Show will run out as the Showster and that will be all.. *prays to Foley and other wrestling gods*
Imagine this is some funny signature. Then I will imagine you compliment me on it.
I hate Hogan. I despise Hogan. I agree with dskillz, I'd love to see him get a beat down with every finisher that can be put on him (that was in my thread for the rumble). But, if his awful interviews are kept to a minimum and he's just there for decoration to Nash and Hall, then I can live with it, IF THE ANGLE GOES SOMEWHERE. Please Vince, don't screw this up too.
They gotta bring these back!!!: "talk to the hand because the man don't understand." - "The Crippler" Chris Benoit "...and that is the LAST WORD." - "The Big Nasty" Paul Wight and of course: "Don't hate the playa...HATE THE GAME~!" - WCW World Champion Booker T
You know what? A lot of us hate hogan... and why?.. because of the amount of air time he is given in his later years.... cut down that air time... let him come out... do his thing.. maybe use him to put Paul W. or somebody over eventually... cut his mic time way down and just let the nWo run it's course... there is no doubt the common fan will pop for them... everybody knows who hogan is... bring him in and you will get everybody watching for a little while... if they do it right then they can pick up a lot more fans...
dont you wish that you were me??? no?.... i've got two words for ya!
This is not good news at all. Hogan could`ve just faded off into the sunset. I can`t stand Nash, he constantly has that face of boredom, like he`s about to yawn in the ring. I forgot who said this but someone pointed out that he always has the look of "Gee, wrestling is fake and I get paid for it" written on his face.
I agree with all of the people who say that this isn't good. Why? BECAUSE IT ISN'T GOOD! Nash and Hall bore the hell out of me in the ring and on the mic, and that was in 1999. They are each 3 years old and haven't stepped up their games, what makes Vince think that the fans want him? And Hogan? I didn't want to see Hogan back in Wrestlemania IX (The One No One Likes To Talk About) much less now in 2002! My only last hope is that Vince just told the locker room this just gauge a reaction, and then decide whether or not to bring them in based on that. But the chances of that are quite slim. To quote exasperated Peanuts™: "AUUUUUGH!"
The maddening thing about this is that I'll still be watching WWF.
...Some fear the Pink... ...But many fear....THE MOUNTIE! (He's handsome, he's brave, and he's strong, you know)
Sad thing is, moneywise, in Vince's eyes, he's probably thinking that he absolutely HAS to do Austin/Hogan and Rock/Hogan at a WM. And there's certainly no guarantee (lose/lose if there is) that either would happen this year, so that could mean... 3 years of Hogan.
But do you really think that Vince would let them have as much power behind the scenes as they're used to. I don't think that McMahon would let them have as much control again. Hogan had it because he was the top draw in the 80's, so basically they needed to make him happy. Nash was influential because he and Michaels' were the top draw for the WWF in 95 and 96. Don't you think that if the situation got bad enough that Austin, Taker, Rock, or other important wrestlers would stand up and say something. We need to wait and see if these guys can still bring the ratings, and if they can't I don't see Vince giving them too much stroke.
"Kent Brockman here once again at The Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, where a complete evacuation has taken place. Details are sketchy at best, so we've taken what little information we have, added our own theories, and concluded that whatever the likely disaster, it's most likely the work of our former president Richard M Nixon, even though he is rumored dead." -Kent Brockman
I agree with Brewguy totally. I don't see much negative about this news right now. Vince can do what WCW failed to do. Use the nWo to further create his next group of superstars. Vince isn't stupid, and he won't let these guys kill his business. And i don't see how bringing these three in and seeing what kind of attitude they are going to have is going to hurt business. At worst they go the Kronik-Bagwell route. At best, well, I can see this as being pretty good in a business sense. Casual fans will be back, at least for a few months. No matter how old Hogan is, it's hard for me to think that Austin-Hogan, Rock-Hogan, HHH-Hogan, or even Angle-Hogan won't draw better than average buyrates. Look, Nash doesn't hold the book in the WWF. I havent heard anything said yet, but I don't imagine Vince would give Hogan creative control. JR says Hall has cleaned up his personal life. These are big names to the casual fan, and like it or not, there are lots of casual wrestling fans out there that aren't watching right now. And i believe this is a good move for Vince if he wants that business.
