Mark Henry and Tony Atlas make a great pair. Atlas is great on the mic and even his facial expressions are terrific. Henry will face Matt Hardy at Summerslam and tries to scare him by bending a metal bar against his crotch.
Colin Delaney wonders why Atlas and Henry didn't help him last week against Tommy Dreamer. They tell him they'll have his back this week against Hardy. Well, they only stood on the top of the ramp while Delaney got beat and then Henry tossed him out of the ring.
Before the match, Matt Hardy was warned by Braden Walker that Colin was tough and Matt said, "A real wildcat." Cute, and hopefully people got it. I did not immediately recognize Braden Walker as the former Chris Harris. He looks a lot different. More like a deflated Rhino.
The Miz and Morrison beat Finlay and Hornswaggle and Mike Knox attacked Finlay after the match.
Chavo Guerrero lost by disqualification to Ricky Ortiz. Bam Neely and Chavo attacked Ortiz after until Evan Bourne had some nice dropkicks to make the save.
A nice show that debuted Todd Grisham to replace Mike Adamle. He and Tazz meshed well, actually.
Mike Knox suddenly found himself on my radar. In a post attack interview with Lena Yada, she asked him to explain his actions. His response was basically that Finlay used to be the guy who loves to fight, now he's the guy who dances with a leprechaun. "Finlay's gone soft." Absolutely correct! I'd pay (not really, but I'd watch for free) to see Knox force the old violent Finlay to come back.
Matt Hardy's so funny. "Yeah, he's a real wildcat." Get it? Har har har. Oh, Matt's hilarious. Freddie Prinze write that joke for you, Matt?
I was so pissed that Bourne didn't have a match. He is my main reason for watching ECW right now. I like Matt Hardy and all, but to me he isn't a show's-main-title kind of guy. And now with Kofi gone, the Bourne/Chavo feud is the most interesting they have going on. Though Knox/Finlay should be good too.

Agreed. What a great choice for Mark Henry. When Tony speaks, it's as if whoever wrote his lines told him "Look, just put these lines into your own words and you'll be fine", while most everyone else sounds like they're reading the script word-for-word. I'd love to hear the back story of how Atlas' hiring came about.

I give up. Someone please tell me what the hell that means. Also, Colin is god-awful on the mic.

Speaking of Rhyno, I always liked him in the pre- and post-alliance days. I wish he hadnt burned that bridge

They did! It almost looked like the old Tazz/Cole days on Smackdown, which I really miss by the way.

In the wake of the Michael Hayes thing, WWE said, "quick, we needs some black people on TV straight away!!! All black hands on deck!" So they re-signed Cryme Tyme, D'Lo Brown, and Ron Killings; put titles on Koffi Kingston, Shelton Benjamin, and Mark Henry; and hired Tony Atlas, who was famous for his body, to do promos.
Matt didn't call Colin a "wildcat," he called him a "wild cat." As in cat, the antiquated jazz term for a dude. Making it even more of a stretch. He might stretch, but Matt Hardy WILL NOT BEND

Grisham is solid but they missed the opportunity to reunite the greatest announce team of the decade: Tazz & Josh Matthews! They had so much fun on Velocity back in the day...wouldn't it be great to have one of Ricky Ortiz's moves described as "shades of Pokerface!"?

I thought I heard one of the reasons they ended Velocity was because Vince turned it on one time and was annoyed by them announcing like that.
