I am not sure how many people have watched this series, but the past week (M-F) they showed 2 1/2 hours of episodes leading up to the final 2 hour movie on Saturday night. During the week, they did a masterful job of tying up all loose ends, reintroducing old characters and continuing to move towards the final end. The two hur movie was outstanding and left me both satisfied as a fan but also desperately wanting more.

I can honestly say that this has been my favorite all time series ever. From start to end, the writing, acting/voices and animation have been top notch. The character development and continuing plot lines were superb.

If you have never seen Avatar, I would HIGHLY recommend watching it from beginning to end. If you have been a fan but missed this past week, please make sure you watch each of the episodes in order leading up to the final movie.

I am under the assumption that this is the end of the series. I would love it to continue but I don't think it will. Perhaps as the occassional movie, if anything.

Again, greatest series from start to finish ever and the greatest series finale ever. I cannot wait for the full box set to come out. Hopefully there will be some extras involved.

"Marriage is like that show ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’, but it’s not funny. All the problems are the same, but you know instead of all the funny, pithy dialogue, everybody is really pissed off and tense. Marriage is like a tense, unfunny version of 'Everybody Loves Raymond', only it doesn't last 22 minutes. It lasts forever."

I don't know that Avatar is the best series ever, but it would definitely be in the upper regions of my top 10 if I had to make such a list.

The finale had everything I love about the show. Great action (the Zuko/Azula fight was quite the spectacle), mystical revelations (giant lionturtle), hilarity (the birthday party), and dramatic moments (everything with Iroh). Azula's descent into madness was particularly enjoyable to watch.

Anybody remotely interested in the show should watch the first few episodes to see if they get hooked.

I'm dreading the M. Night live action movies.

Harry: That's a special feeling.

The way I see it, there was no bad string of episodes or "jumping the shark" in this short lived series. In terms of quality from beginning to end, I rank it at the top with only the British version of The Office even close.

While there are a bunch of shows that are great, they have been around longer and had stretches of time where did not consistently perform at that high level like the Avatar did the whole series.

M. Night is doing a live action of Avatar?!? I just threw up in my mouth.

This show is an example of the creators knowing the story they wanted to tell and telling it. I have seen interviews with them where they state that the show was planned to go three seasons - and it did. Plus it was well written and the voice acting and animation were all top notch, I am not sure what more you could ask for.

That said, on to the finale. The finale was suitably epic and contained some of the best action of the series. Zuko/Azula stole the show (I loved Aang/Ozai, but there was just a little too much flying for my taste) The return of the Old Masters (as the White Lotus) was phenomenal. Zuko's reunion with Uncle and GrandPakku were great. I agree with Wpob it was great wrap up to a great series, but I do want more.

As far as the movies are concerned, apparently the creators are very involved with the productions so hopefully M. Night won't M. Night with them too much.

Well, I am weeping now. I could not think of a WORSE director for this movie. I shudder to think how bad this will be.

I have enjoyed this series immensely and I was very satisfied with how the loose ends were tied up. I only have one minor issue: the White Lotus. Maybe I missed the clues (I really don't think that those clues were there...), but the only character that I associated with the White Lotus was Iro. The rest of them just kind of showed up and said "White Lotus? Yeah, we're members..." Sure, the writers hinted that the White Lotus had a membership that extended beyond the normal borders and prejudices and I'm not sure that there was a better way to do it, but it bordered on deus ex machina to me.

OTOH, maybe I'm over analyzing... Regardless of this minor complaint, it was still a good show with a satisfying end and one of the few shows of this quality that my kids could watch and enjoy.

One of the Thirty-two (or maybe Thirty-four....)!

Piandao gave Sokka a Lotus tile after training him with the sword. Jeong Jeong, Pakku and Bumi were never associated with the White Lotus until they showed up with Iroh and Piandao. It is a convenient way to have the old characters show up without having to provide further motivation, but it does explain some other things that would have been hanging.

"What happened when Pakku showed up at the south pole?"
"Did Bumi escape his imprisonment in Omashu?"
"Why did Jeong Jeong desert, and where did he disappear to after Zhao happened along?"

Truth be told, I just liked seeing the characters again so much I didn't really care how they got there.

Not her. Fuck Jennifer Aniston. I'm talking about the psuedo Night Court reunion, which may have been the highlight of my month so far - and please look at my avatar when you read that. I don't think I've ever "marked out" to a sitcom before....
