Pixar's best since at least The Incredibles and maybe even better, but I need time to digest and come down off the high. Such a beautiful film, and though - as most critics have mentioned - parts in the middle bring it down just a bit it's still a hell of a movie and is legitimately moving at times.
See it now.
Oh, and the short before the film is one of Pixar's funniest. "One Man Band" is better...but this one gets more laughs.
I was completely caprivated by this movie and thought THIS was the best Pixar movie ever. And the short before hand killed me and made it even a better movie experience.
My 3 year old, who could barely sit still for Kung Fu Panda (which I also loved) sat through most of this - which was impressive. My 8 year old daughter said it was her favorite movie EVER!!
Highly recommended. Iron Man and Wall*E are running 1 and 1A for my favorite movies of the year so far.
"Marriage is like that show ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’, but it’s not funny. All the problems are the same, but you know instead of all the funny, pithy dialogue, everybody is really pissed off and tense. Marriage is like a tense, unfunny version of 'Everybody Loves Raymond', only it doesn't last 22 minutes. It lasts forever."
WOW. You are the only person I have even heard of that did not like this movie. I guess somethings aren't for everyone.

I have not seen it, but my wife, who I trust, has - she was also disappointed. Boring and preachy is what she said

What? How? It was brilliant, beautiful, and my favorite Pixar movie to date. Please explain this to me, as I can't possibly fathom why this movie could ever disappoint anyone, unless they were expecting Citizen Kane.
I have a two-year old and she's quite taken by Spongebob and WonderPets ... just wondering if this would be something that would keep her attention? I saw that I three-year old was interested but two might be too young. Any thoughts?

I would say no - unless her attention can be held for long periods of time. My three year old saw it and liked it, but like I said, there were part sof it he got restless through. If you take her, go to an late morning/early afternoon showing as there will be less people and it is usually cheaper - in case you have to leave.

Good idea. A Sunday matinee might be a good idea to see the short and whatever we can of the movie. Thanks for the info.
I want to see it just for them using The Polecat's "Make A Circuit With Me" as background music in the ads. A great "lost" 80's Classic. (Do they play it in the actual movie?)
We'll probably take the kids this weekend and hope the crowds will be a little lighter the 2nd weekend.

Funny how the only negative reviews I've seen all boil down to "everything was great, but the plot was boring because it reminded us that humans can be selfish and lazy and fat".
Personally, I loved every minute of it. Visually beautiful and to my surprise, very emotional and at times even sad. Pixar usually manages to find a way to tug on my usually unused heart strings, but I found this one especially touching.

I didn't think it sucked, I just don't think it was up to Pixar's standards.
The first part of the movie with WALL-E on the planet and the interplay with the probe was great. But when they got on board the ship and focused on the mass of humanity, I think it just went south. It wasn't that well written, and what little of impressive animation was left was overshadowed by the poorly drawn people.
I don't have any problems with the message of the movie. I just don't think it was that well executed.
I saw this yesterday... and while I agree that it wasn't one of Pixar's finest, I really enjoyed it and even teared up!! But it's no Monsters Inc. which to me is the last movie that Pixar did that I thought was outstanding.
I absolutely loved the short. Glimpses of Bugs at his best!

I thought it was absolutely wonderful. I laughed, I cried. The body of work Pixar has produced is incredible, and this may be their best ever. Oscar worthy, and I don't mean the animation Oscar.
I'm not sure I'd take a 2-year-old, though. I don't think it would captivate them the way, say, Monsters Inc or Finding Nemo did, anyway.
Anyone catch this last night? I thought I'd give it a whirl because it had Shatner in it, though the awful commercials for the show almost made me not tune in. I thought it was okay, but nothing special.
