Anyone been watching this? The audition shows were very hit or miss, and the ones I liked most often didn't make it through.

Tonight the first hour was actually pretty darn funny, but things went downhill later on. The judging, however, was horrific from my point of view. Three of the chosen finalists outright sucked, IMNSHO--God's Pottery (cute idea, but just not funny), Paul Hood and Ron G. Adam Hunter was the only one who went through who really made me laugh. The others I likes--Erin Foley, Erin Jackson, Shazia Mirza, Dale Jones--got hosed.

We (my fiancee & I) liked the impressions by Marcus, so we checked out some of his online videos--funny stuff. Looking forward to him last week. Also have to recommend Stephen K. Amos who was on briefly in the auditions--we've watched a bunch of his stuff online and he kills.

I've been vaguely following this, so I don't have any sincere commentary on any of the goings on except to say that I like Paul Foot because he's a living Douglas Adams character. Past that, I didn't particularily care for anybody else on the show tonight.

(I've made it through about 1/2 the show on DVR so far.)

Sorry, but Erin Foley bombed big time on her set last night. I can't believe God's Pottery made it through either, but I do like them. I got a chuckle how they had the crowd shot of the gal with the gaudy giant cross necklace during their song. I definitely agree Ron G. should never have moved on - his whole routine was stuck on that one unfunny note.

Phil Palisoul got hosed. He even made my wife laugh, and she hates these shows. I also kind of felt bad for Lioz Shem Tov. The turtle was "eh", but the Bill Gates stuff was pretty funny.

They must have pre-picked the winners of this episode because Ron G. and Paul Foot totally sucked. In fact, I don't think Paul Foot has been funny any of the times I have seen him this season. I also took an informal poll at work where two other people watched and they expressed horror that he moved on. My wife and I liked Shazia Mirza and think she got hosed.

I happened to be in a bar last night where those guys and some others were having a viewing party. They enjoyed that moment a little more than I thought they would have.

Cool enough guys too (friends of friends, but I was there for other reasons than to watch TV with people from TV).

A friend of mine was one of the three winners in Minneapolis (John Evans). Was he on last night and I missed it or is there another "semi finals" show to come.

And I really didn't think God's Pottery was that funny myself.

I don't recall seeing John Evans this time out, so I assume he'll be in the other semifinal next week.

DiCaprio as TR doesn't work for me. Perfect TR would have been Gene Hackman 20 years ago. Even Tom Hanks 10 years ago when he could do no wrong as an actor would have been pretty good. But DiCaprio? I'll pass.
