I don't know about fur flying at the pink taco, as I only caught the first half of the show, but what I did see ...

Was the best backstage face to face promo in years between Kevin Nash and Samoa Joe. Intesity was at an "11". I'm starting to look forward to the Nash/Joe feud that is sure to come from this, and I have been a heavy critic of Nash for sometime now. The WWE should take note this is how you slow boil a feud. Sure they may be doing it with HBK/Y2J, but this seems more personal and it feels like it will be violent.

X Division Round One was fun as well Davari and Tyson Dux who looks like little Billy Gunn put up a fair fight against MCMGs. Not a lot of selling, but also not high spot heavy. I really expected Davari to come out with a win here so this was a bit of a surprise.

LAX makes a gimmicky challenge where fans are lumber jacks with belts ... gay ... Hector Guerreo continues to creep me out with his old Eddy look.

Awesome Kong gets a good fight this time from Taylor. I would have rather have seen my girl Daffney put up the fight, but Awesome Kong segments are some of the best in American wrestling right now. The girl is amazing and her strength when catching Taylor from the top to the floor was impressive. TNA's women's division is so much more entertaining than the WWE's model division, and it's one thing they can do way better than Vince is book a monster. The Big Show would be a God there.

I missed the rest of the show

cheers
BDL

Hey, Loco: CATCH THE REPLAY. The Main Event -- 3D vs. Styles and Cage -- was pretty great. The best 3D match I've seen in a long time.

First match was Booker T vs. BG James -- basically an extended squash, as it should be, which Booker won with the Axe Kick. I wouldn't mind seeing BG retire, at this point, and becoming an announcer.

Loco's spot on about the X Cup match -- fun stuff. I HATED Tyson Dux last time I saw him, a couple of years ago -- he was doing a "dancing idiot" routine at the time. He seems to have dropped the goofiness; him and Davari (with a shaved head!) looked fine although they were getting PUMMELED the whole time so it's hard to make a full analysis.

I think it's safe to say that the Motor City Machine Guns are finally out of the doghouse because they have been KICKING ASS these last couple of shows. Great stuff from them.

They've done this once before -- Jeff Jarrett vs. Samoa Joe a couple of years ago. It seemed to be "legit" -- there were a couple of fans there who were recognizable as always being in the Impact Zone.

Somewhere around here, AJ beat up Tomko in back, and then Kurt Angle, too -- only it's not Angle, it's his buddy Frank Trigg (I was fooled, too!).

Yeah! Taylor is Shantelle Taylor (onlineworldofwrestling.com), former WWE developmental wrestler. I believe she's already signed a contract with TNA, so we'll be seeing more of her. This was the best of these segments -- I actually thought that Taylor had a chance.

Kaz vs. Alex Koslov: This is a X Cup "preview" match, even though the tournament has already started -- I assume this was to fill time since Team Mexico didn't make it to these tapings. Pretty good match -- Koslov is a fine heel. I kinda wish he had gone over, though, to make Team International seem like a threat.

Sonjay Dutt and Jay Lethal brawl at the (urgh) Pink Taco. Ehh. This could have been backstage at the Impact Zone for all I know.

Jacqueline vs. Salinas: Salinas is not very good at all -- I really think that LAX picked the wrong Martinez (onlineworldofwrestling.com). Jackie gets a nice wrist-clutch exploder suplex and puts Salinas away with a rolling guillotine choke. Nice to see Jackie back up her rep -- she doesn't often get that chance these days.

After the match, Jackie straps Salinas -- Salinas chooses to sell this by making scary vampire faces, which is a mysterious decision.

Team 3D vs. Christian Cage and AJ Styles: 3D laid out Rhino earlier in the show, leading to Cage recruiting Styles. I REALLY liked this match. 3D are great in their role as loudmouth bullies with the legacy and muscle to back it up, and even if I'm not a huge fan of their wrestling I respect that. They were perfect tonight, though, as Cage and Styles went high and simply outwrestled 3D to finally get the pin in a 10+ minute match (with, weirdly, AJ's springboard reverse DDT). I loved AJ countering the attempt at the 3D with the Pele kick, and AJ missing the Superman forearm (for once), with Devon SLAMMING him to the mat. This would have fit right in on a PPV.

Afterword, an angry Frank Trigg ran down to confront AJ -- and then Kurt Angle (also in a suit) ambushed AJ and dropped him. Man, Trigg and Angle do look alike -- they should form a tag team (TriAngle?) and Kurt can let Trigg do the heavy lifting.

Not quite as good as last week, but well worth watching.

Perhaps regular viewers can clarify something in reference to the World X Cup, since I'm a bit confused.

It's been reported that members of "Team Japan" and "Team Mexico" will be at next week's tapings. However, up until this point, there's just been a "Team TNA" and a "Team International."

So are there now going to be three teams like there have been in the past - TNA, Team Japan, or Team Mexico - or are they still going to have one heel International unit in this thing?

As for the show itself, I was doing a ton of housecleaning so only had it on in the background. The stuff I did pay attention to, though, wasn't bad. Lethal and Dutt had a good confrontation and brawl, though it was hurt by TNA's typical bad direction and poor choice of cutaways (the brawl aspect also went on two minutes longer than it should have especially considering it was a taped backstage segment).

And ditto Karlos's take on the 3D/Styles & Cage main. Good stuff, and Bubba's promo earlier in the night reminded me why I used to think Team 3D were freaking great as heels.

Four teams: TNA, Int'l, Japan, and Mexico. Japan had representatives against the MCMGs last week in an exhibition match, and they're still figuring out who's going to be Team Mexico, due to visa difficulties.

I catch TNA more and more these days, but I'm still not up on all the storylines, so hopefully this doesn't sound as stupid as it might (and hopefully it doesn't sound like fantasy booking either).

But last week, when Kong laid out Karen Angle for the completion of the "I took a hit out on my wife" ... was that followed up on at all in this week's show? For some reason I got the vibe from it that Kong would end up turning on Angle (for non-payment, or because she realized his wife was right, or something), kind of an old-school Kamala turn or Big Boss Man turning on DiBiase.

From what I read there's been some talk of bringing Kong over to face some men, although I'm not sure having her attack a former champ is the way you want to do it. But I can't see any other reason for her taking out Karen Angle other than to go down that road. Am I completely reading into things here?

(Mind you, of course, I also see the best logical conclusion of the Awesome Kong Challenge being that Raisha Saeed turns on Kong once the challenge money is pumped up enough to make it worth her while, so it might not be possible for BOTH of those things to happen.)

Pink Taco is the name of an actual restaurant, but they're only in Las Vegas, LA and Scottsdale, so that's probably not where Lethal and Dutt were.

I totally forgot about Bubba totally freaking out on Rhino. That was a great promo. I agree about Team them now that they are going back to their ECW roots of being total bully dickheads. I miss the glasses though.

I hope I remember to catch the replay, because I do usually like watching them fight smaller opponets. It's when they face the bigger guys that they run into problems.

re: Team Mexico - It's sounding more and more like TNA didn't get in the paper work for work visas in time, so that's why the CMLL crew missed this last set of tapings. (It may just have taken longer than usual because of new restrictions.)

Ultimo Guerrero and Rey Bucanero told the press this week that they finally got their visas, so at least those two should be good to go for Monday. No one in the press has yet gotten a hold of the other two members, Averno & Volador Jr., to find out if they're also cleared to travel. They should be, but the only thing I trust here is for something to go wrong.

Is that the same Tiger Chung Lee from 80s WWF? Isn't he 100 years old?

I do believe that was sarcasm. Rikidozan's been dead for quite some time.

I would have loved to see them find a way to bring in Razor Ramon HG, just to see the reaction everyone has to him (esp. Jerry McDevitt).

I've heard a lot about these guys, but never have seen them. Are they very good?

Kevin Kelly: "Mr. Austin, would you like to comment on Wade Keller's Take that endorsing the XFL hurts your anti-authority character?"

Steve Austin: "Oh shit, he actually said that? I thought the boys in the back were ribbing me!"

Kelly: "No, he really said that. Did they tell you the part about you sitting in the stands, looking all skeptical?"

Austin: "AHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah... oh man that was too much."

I guess Team USA is probably going to win but can we at least make it look close? So far it looks like MCMG is going to dominate the tag matches and Kaz dominate the singles with Curry Man jobbing the occasional match. I think I'd even prefer Team USA lost. Like maybe make it come down to the Ultimate X match and they could choose Sabin over Kaz and he could lose to one of the other teams. You can justify Sabin being in the match over Kaz because he's been in 7 Ultimate X matches and won the finals of two World X Cup tournaments, but then you can also justify him losing since he is tag guy now. Kaz and Sabin could even feud afterwards when Sabin loses.

Team 3D has been great ever since the MCMG stuff, which supposedly was booked by Team 3D themselves so I'd let them continue to do what they want.

Even though AJ going through Tomko and Angle so quickly is confusing it looks like we're getting the serious face AJ push we were hoping. Two good main events in a row for AJ. Let's hope he comes out on top whenever the feud ends and that he is in line for a title run after Joe.

If TNA keeps up the good main events then we're pretty much guaranteed two or three really good matches a week between the main event, the World X Cup and either the tag or women's division. Let's hope it continues that way since that is really what they have to offer over the WWE.

The regular replay will not air this Saturday like usual.I think their is a UFC marathon on. The replay actual aired today (Friday) at 9AM. I was shocked to be flipping threw when I caught it on.

Okay, I am sold. I saw Nash deliver a great promo last week, and recorded this week and just got done viewing it.

If they keep this Joe and Nash shit going, I'll keep tuned in. Joe calling Nash the great and powerful Oz had me laughing.

Yeah, Wikipedia has a pretty strict "if it hasn't been shown on TV yet, it's a spoiler" policy, which is probably why they're not saying anything yet about other members.

Someone on another board pointed out that Team International might have a chance since they're the most likely to stick around after the Cup (Doug Williams has possibly already signed a contract). I wouldn't mind the four of them staying a team for a while and getting up to some unamerican antics. They've got an uphill battle, of course -- the MMGs and the Dragon Gate guys are well-oiled machines, and Team International really, really isn't.
